Appearances Can Be Deceiving

Altho' I didn't study for my Rorschach test
when the proctor a doctor a shrink
evaluating my perception in search of insight
to discover what I might really think
handed me ten pictures on a card
I took a long hard look
then knew exactly what I did see
and did not blot my copybook
as often what you're gazing at
is simply (on the dot) precisely that
so it was not difficult at all
personally from where I sat
to pass with flying colours
and unravel this Gordian Knot
it wasn't a butterfly moth or bat
sometimes an inkblot is just an inkblot

He felt so cocksure
his Midas Touch was proctor.
Vegas pulled him down.
Now his Midas touch is brown.
His failure was a shocker.

Sent Sun

I’m the patient while these words are like my doctor/
Find the grace and style to please hoards jarred like nectar/
Wined by the taste and trial to ease an orange barred sector/
I’m defined by the baste and survival like a horrid scarred protector/
Come near the scope of my word turret I’ll tour it if God’s sure of it/
I drum to conquer pits and concur wits with thoughts I stir to spit/
Begun is a helicopter verbal arrangement within a range of mint/
Been fun to gel a proctor with verbal engagement and pin any mental derangement/
Sent sun in lieu of a stricter hurdle and a big stage dreamt
Don’t groan in lament just loan what’s lent moan what’s meant or be shown what’s sent/
Growth’s strewn to own not to make sense /
There’s a renown presence in this precedence like a full press dance to commence.

To Rise Again

No ordered enchantment,
no purpose in luck
No dreams in forgetting,
no lover mistook

A bells rings in silence
when ears have gone dry
A bat’s in the chimney
when fire’s denied

All hail to the wonder,
all hail to the chiefs
All hail to the proctor,
all hail disbelief

Indentured we mingle,
inclement we fall
Inspired we stumble
—in spite of it all

She was sick, but you would never know it.
She liked her nurses, they were slim and fit.
She rarely complained. Her name was Bonnie Proctor.
She enjoyed her friends, they shared the same doctor.

What is your super power? A head doctor asked her one day.
She had not thought of it until then, so what could she say?
Your super power is your strength, her mother suggested.
The nurse came by for blood, so she could get it tested.

Your super power is your smile, her grandma added.
There were three visitors that day. One came padded.
He had coloring books, markers, paints and other stuff.
He was her cousin Louie, who sometimes acted gruff.

She went to bed that evening dreaming of super powers.
Hers was flying, and she saw herself in a field of flowers.
She saw Jesus and gave him a friendly happy wave.
Keeping her super power to herself, this soldier so brave.

You are electron microscopic size, but you possess infinitesimal power. Just a single strand of encapsulated RNA, yet you and your brothers SARS and MERS can sicken and kill more complex life.

Covid-19, virion unseen
Bring humans to their knees
Cowering and trembling

You spring up suddenly from nowhere and spread like fire in a parched forest. Devastating stock markets, stopping sports teams, halting concerts and forbidding gatherings over 250 souls. Quarantines of ships and planes. People greedily grasping, fighting and clawing for the important things in life: toilet paper, masks, cleaning supplies, paper towels.

A boon to corporations
Johnson and Johnson, Proctor and Gamble
Secretly happy you are around.

World wide you spread, showing no regard for race, boundaries or politics.

Italians, Iranians, Chinese,
Americans, Norwegians,
Japanese, Brazilians

The world caught unprepared. Scientists scrambling to develop a vaccine. All will breathe a sigh of relief when you cease your rampage. That is until you return, mutated, the same but different and we start all over again.

Shrink Wrapped

can i get a back beat

my doctor
is a proctor
not to be bothered
about your father
so go further
blur blurring vision
deciding decisions

yo
begin again
begin again

i've never sinned
casting stones
throw in the towel
after a awhile
fashion fashionably
late for a date

yo

no make up
making me make
taking a take
a second glance
a second glance

yo
yo
yo

loca mujer
hair dyed rojo
afro fantastico
don't know when
even then
then is now
bow to you
you're my Muse
muse about
get it all out
no leather couch
here where
all are chairs
take care
take your meds
bed is bedtime
time i'm instead

writing about her
again about her
again

yo

vinyl record scratching
back records show
you're good to go

yo
yo

you're good to go
te quiero
te quiero

Poor, poor fisherman, Jim Proctor
A flying carp sent him to the doctor
He was out sturgeon fishin'
Now his left eye's hurtin'
When his wife first saw it, it shocked her

Santa's Bad Day

The elves filled Santa's sack with toys
For all the good little girls and boys

When he lifted it up he used his back
Instead of his legs and he tore his sack

An elf gave a band-aid to Santa, their proctor
Santa said, "No, I need to go to a doctor"

But sadly a doctor he would do without
There was no time, so he started his route

He stood up in the sleigh, his jewels in a brace
Yelling, "OW, Merry Christmas!", all over the place!

Poor Jeremy Squires.

Jeremy Squires a strange wee breed
would cough and sneeze all day indeed.
So Marjorie Proctor sent for the doctor.
She asked that he come real quick.
Before Jeremy Squires and his coughing expires
then he'll no-longer be sick!

Well, said the doctor, if I don't come quick
and Jeremy Squires is no-longer sick
he won't need a doctor Marjorie Proctor.
Is that what you've just said?
Yes! Said she, oh don't you see
cause Jeremy Squires will be dead.

Be what you see in present tense,
One way shapes truth in actual voice;
Believe and be what you dare sense.
Promptly live proof in poise and choice,
Reach to know why you can succeed;
Obey your heart when mind speaks clear,
Clear focus buys the fate you seed,
Trust in fond start that attracts cheer;
Open to goals that you achieve,
Reap the firm feel that impacts plain.
See what unfolds through self-belief,
Align sure will to accept gain;
You think you can to prosper well,
Seed a sound plan as action tells.
