A DAY ON THE BEACH CAN'T BE BEAT

Two ears of corn on the sand,
With no sunscreen, they thought it was grand.
     They basked in the rays,
     In a golden haze,
Till they popped like a snack, so unplanned!

Popcorn Words

Corn couple lies in beach with bodies bare,
smooth skin soaks in midday sun’s scorching glare.
        His lewd stare makes Miss Cob groan,
        heat bakes anger in her bone,
kernels of sizzling words pop up in air.

Popcorn Scatter Gun

Corncob lay basking in the sun 
Sunbathing and having such fun 
But it got so hot
His nib-lets were shot - 
Popping off the flies, when done

one stays chill, the other pops—
summer’s buttered joke.

Popcorn and Needles

I remember how 
you used to roll
your popcorn popper
across the floor grinning
and not paying attention
to where you were going—
and how happily you 
pretended to drive
the rusty ’49 GMC pickup
I was still trying to restore:
Rosie, we called her,
after Rosie the Riveter.

Remember the didgeridoo?
I bought it for you after
we saw a performance
of a didgeridoo quintet
from down under.

Popcorn: My go - to Snack

Kernels popped in olive oil,
Butter-drizzled and
tossed with salt or Parmesan 
or candied as balls!
Versatile delight
in puffs of
white!

Popcorn

Priced high in cinemas
Pick from cheese, butter, salt
Plucked from corn bits...then heat
Pair this with soda... zing!
Pop it ,crunch it...mouth sings
Please, bring this great snack on!

Oh, the 2024 U.S. Presidential election race,
as I ponder on it with my head's empty space.
Our nation is so out of joint,
our political differences at a breaking point,
with name calling rife in online blogs,
I would rather listen to bellowing bullfrogs.

Republicans, Democrats, Independents,
liberal, moderate, conservative, it's malevolent,
people attacking each other,
well, if I had my druthers,
I'd nominate
