Pine Away Poems

Premium MemberTomorrow's just another day

Why worry about what the future brings?
Tomorrow's just another day, they say,
No need to pout, and pule, and pine away.
Instead, I'll relish this day's offerings,
Anticipate tomorrow's profferings,
And strive to keep all gloomy thoughts at bay,
And let the future bring me come what may.
With fortitude I'll weather fortune's stings.

I may not always know the world's largesse,
But sure's the sun keeps rising and setting,
And sure's the world continues its spinning,
Worry is no way out of hopelessness.
A chance to renew, the past forgetting,
Each day's reward is a new beginning.

Author's note: I'm not by nature a worrier, but I do try to build on the past and plan for the future.

Why I Want to be a Poet

I will never be a great poet, but that is okay
writing poetry helps relieve the anxiety of life’s challenges
a life full of ups and downs
I have a choice to make
will I sit and pine away or will I try to help myself
one needs to vent and free the soul of stress
I find putting words down is much better than screaming
it is better than crying all day feeling sorry for myself
I write poems describing my sad feelings as well as happy ones
I have always been a very private person so baring my soul to people
scares me to death
but time and the events in life have helped me feel out loud
poetry has freed my soul from fear of rejection
I will do self care and release more feelings
Pretending to be a poet

Premium MemberWhen I Kick the Buckett

When I kick the bucket you better cry
misery and loneliness overwhelm you when I die
You better mourn over me missing me a lot
even with another don't ever let me be forgot
Make your home a shrine over my memory
let every soul know how much your missing me
Beseech the entire town for my memorial day
lead every church service remembering me as you pray
Keep dreaming of me every night pine away
for if you don't I'll haunt you every day
It's not that I am greedy or needy for your love
to simply remembered me is all I'm guilty of
So when you lay flowers on my immaculate kept grave
just remember that trust fund and all the promises you made.

Premium MemberLand and Sea

Do you wish to hold me?
We can drift on the sea my love,
under the stars above.
You were my lovely dove so free,
who captivated me.

I thought I’d never be so glad
and still inside so sad
For the love we both had, is gone.

As we approach the dawn
I will think, “Once upon a time,
you were meant to be mine.”
So now my heart does pine away
Wishing that you would stay

I know that you will say, good bye
Still I will wonder why,
you chose another guy, not me.
Him on shore, me at Sea~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Down On Me

Crusty old oaks
wave brittle arms angrily
overhead, threatening
to drop dead
crushingly
heavy limbs
Down

Taller trees
having achieved
the highest heights
pine away, lonely
jealously pouring their
sharp needles
Down

Towering above
terrifyingly insecure
in their position
they shakily
throw their shade
blocking sun and rain-
trying to keep me
Down

What did I do
to deserve such spite
but struggle to survive
with limited might
a dogwood sapling
that could never possibly
grow to over-shadow
them?

Song of the Sojourner

From far, far, away,
In this land so foreign,
Memories of you haunt me.
I pine away in craving,
For the feel of your breath,
Cool, soft and saline,
Fanning my face, gently.

Memories of our first embrace,
As I crawled on my belly,
Under chairs, tables and beds,
Crying at every obstacle,
Covered in your dirt,
In search of my beloved mother
My mind has clearly rebuilt.

I still hear your music,
In a tongue rich and ancient.
Your pantheon of masquerades,
Deifying great creatures of your rivers,
Each, called to the center by name,
By the voice of your talking drums.
Dance steps, electric and eclectic!

Though I continue to sojourn,
In this land across foreign waters,
Your gods, I have not forgotten,
Your traditions, have never left me.
I therefore make this pledge,
That surely, I will return,
To you, oh land of my fathers

Fading Love

You gave me a magic walk in the rain
Those beautiful sunsets time and again
You gave me glimpses of your beautiful mind
Love that is gentle, tender, and kind.

The rainbow, the blossoms, sweet scented flowers
You gave me many sweetly passing hours.
Those enchantingly sweet, nostalgic nights
Ensconced in our world of sweet delights.

You gave me those memorable, delightful days
Showed me you care, in a thousand ways.
Lovely moments of divine bliss and rapture
Time's golden hours we can't recapture.

You left me heartbroken, in tears and in pain
I tried to forget, to move on but all in vain
Your goodbye so abrupt, so final, so brief
While I recall our past and pine away in grief.

Oh precious noble sunrise gift
Collecting small pieces of mosaic to a beautiful love
Your my majestic rose whom blossoms deeply splendid
Flowering a Princess young and lightly blushing regal sovereign

Take me with you into dreams of royal splendor
where your grace pours upon lips divine honey
Please don't make me dream lonely or pine away
It would be the beginning to a warm happiness true lovers should feel
Where we will hold each other in silent whispers

Starlight wonder dances upon a stream of silver dust
And the moon's loving energy promotes the Divine
Magically you raise me up enchantingly songs
A heavenly choir bringing the stars into the soul

Inside your Heaven we will fly together free
As the sunflower we turn our minds toward the light
Becoming one spouse with the perfect pure love
Into another space I feel you all around me

Premium MemberSad and Happy

Usually feeling very upbeat and happy
But even clowns have their days
Probably brought on by the Christmas season
For those old days we pine away

Nostalgically recalling how it used to be
A young family just starting out
Sadly those happy days are gone forever
Acknowledging what life's all about

Really do wish I could live forever
How sad to have to say goodbye
To all our friend and the happy memories
Remembering, it's hard not to cry

So very sorry, didn't mean this to be sad
The holiday season can do this to me
As I remember all those great Christmas' Past
With good friends and dear family

Saying Good-Bye

My heart plummets as torrents of rain
Beat against my foggy window
Pummeling the glass as I
Stare at the phone

You said you'd call and now it's been
Days since you said good-bye
Leaving me to pine away
The long hard hours

Is your imprint on somebody's sheets
Your sights on someone new?
You're breaking my heart
Just don't do it

I gaze at the walls as they close in
With each hour you disappear
From my heart and soul
Farewell my love

Mystery Man

Enticing eyes hide secrets unknown,
Slicing a heart that I no longer own.

Endless talks which are chatter to some,
Upon eager ears are more than welcome.

Neither moon nor sun, neither spring nor rain,
Is fit to compare; each is utterly inane.

My pierced heart that longs for much more,
Shall gladly pine away with this fatal sore.
