                             NURSES
    A caring heart beneath the shades of blue.
              

Intrusive Thoughts

Dare I share my intrusive thoughts
Once suicidal in a mood so dark
I actually tried to stop my heart
Using vitamins to sin with life to part

It was a low that got so deep
Manic tide had overcome me
Was hearing voices in trilogies
Mad as I was bipolar buried

I recall walking outside
Collapsed in the sunshine
Barely recall ambulance ride
Feeling lost

The Tale of Two Patricks

My father was born,
Late on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day,
Inspiring nurses to insist the babe’s name be Patrick,
To which, my grandparents laughed and chose to obey.

Decades later, 
When my parents had their first son,
Though the birth be in October,
The life of another Patrick, Pat Jr., begun.

Every St. Patrick’s Day has a special spark,
Because it

Most aspire nurses

to achieve more out of life.

Nowhere does caring invoke the spirit.

But time shapes your world its way,

sometimes silencing your hustle.

 

It’s like no other profession.

You become a proficient whisperer

piercing into the hearts of others,

not realizing you also have one.

these are acts of infinite morality

guiding you to the best of the next life.

Tell me this question nurse
Describe how you ever see me
A wrinkly old fuss pot woman
At the grand old age of 93
You wash and you dress me
You feed each one of us
Its your job but i hear you moan
When one of us makes a fuss.

I'll tell you all about my life
Right where do you want me

Needle In The Eye And other Fun Things

I disclose that I
Have regular appointments
For a needle in my eye

A thing I dread 
And I'm afraid of most
Is when I see that Javelin
Getting close

It hurts so much
I want to die
And like a little girl
I cry out  NO sob and cry

Don't move the nurse said
As she tied me to the bed
Ouch and have you

THANKFUL FOR NURSES

Today I’m thankful for nurses and the comfort and joy they spread

how in our life they are necessary…
essential…
needed…

And I hope they understand as Ralph Waldo Emerson said:

To know even one life has been made easier because you have lived…
means…
you 
have succeeded….

Nurses

Eat, work, eat, repeat.
That is what we do but sleep.
Eat, work, eat, repeat.
That is what we do to keep.

Eat, sleep, eat, drive.
That is what we do but thrive.

That is what we do to survive.

Drive, stop, drive, splurge.
That is what we do but burst.

Man In Green Vs Green Snake

A man in green overall 
With  a  green walking stick 
Was near the green garden. 
A green bird on the tree saw 
A green snake in the green garden, 
And sung to warn the man 
about the danger. 

A man was clueless about 
the green snake which  was near him.

Chet Had Heard About the Va Va Va Voom Nurses

Chet was thrilled to be sent to Kanas City Mercy Hospital East
He had been told the food was great, hot bread made of yeast.
Their desserts are delicious, and their nurses are svelte and fine.
He could barely wait to have them look at his sore back behind.

He was all ready to have his fine tushy looked

Surrounded By Nurses

The clock on the wall is relentless
It keeps moving forward never ceases
Time's getting short
More love to export
Unaware of time surrounded by nurses

The Nurses Who Roam the Halls

She roams the halls at night,
Taking care of us.
She is only but a nurse,
But she is an angel,
She is a hero.
She has those kind eyes,
A special touch,
A golden smile,
And she is the keeper of our hearts.
The moon protects her,
The sun welcomes her while hiding her halo,
For those of us who are not privileged,
To know of

Observing Todays Nurses

A nurse saunters by 
wearing all black
even black nursing shoes
I never saw that before

The ones with super hero scrubs work with children.
But which patients does she work with?
Do they think of her as a real nurse not wearing white?

Questions to ponder as I see masked bandits
enter in and out of doctor’s offices, sharing this germy

Nurses

no tourist dolphins
pelicans of sacrifice
they die curing ills
