Let It Rain

Let it rain on the
drought-shrouded
terrains.
Let it rain on the
meadow and her
grains;
For the ember stare of
the bridled sun
Fiddles and suffuses our
flaccid corn.

My Best Rain Poem

Mountains feel its cascade.
Yesterdays remember its destruction.

Blossoms drink its delightfulness.
Estuaries enliven effervescently.
Sunshine shimmers during sprinkles.
The freedom of rain exhilarates.

Rainwater refreshes.
Acclimates the atmosphere.
Invigorates the soul.
Nurtures all that lives.

Precious precipitation,
Omnipotent and cyclical,
Entices excitement.
Merrily mizzling..

Premium Member On a Sweltering Day

on a sweltering day, I watch the sky
as it tries to eke out tears. . . .
but it simp ly can not

drenched in sweat, too stifled even to stir,
I see grey clouds gathering -
then suddenly explode!

sheets upon sheets of rain come pounding down -
freed, I stand smiling beneath. . . .
as heaven weeps for joy

Rainbow Girl

What a pretty girl...
Walking on the eyes of me
Smiling as the rain comes down
She is my rainbow...
May the sun stay here a while
So I can touch her and smile

In her company
I blow bubbles in the air
And I stare and watch her climb
Down the firmament
As her foot reaches the land
I lay in awe on the sand

Briefly there's a grey
Cloud that's jealous of my love
So he calls a thunderstorm
But I patiently
Cry until the drummers leave
...butterflies sing on my sleeve

Dancing down she comes
Dressed in colors of the world
Waiving at the land and sky
Flirting with my eye
How can I not love her, she
Kisses everything I see

What a pretty girl...
Walking on the eyes of me
Smiling as the rain comes down
She is my rainbow...
May the sun stay here a while
So I can touch her and smile

Nature's Fury

The storm was unrelenting,
Possessed of a fury unmatched by anything he had ever seen.
The wind blew the rain towards the ground in regimented and precise layers,
Legions of droplets descending on the earth like some vast army.
In stark contrast to the disciplined layering of the falling lifeblood of the clouds,
Sheets of water whipped violently about in intricate patterns on the path,
Raging and frothing forward in the manner of a screaming barbarian horde.
He stood in the midst of it all,
Watching gusts of wind propel walls of rain at him.
As they hit him they dispersed into their separate components,
Letting him feel the sting of each individual droplet against his chilled body.
All of a sudden the heavens erupted, spewing forth a bolt of lightning
With a peal of thunder mightier than the most glorious battle-cry.
He watched it race to earth,
Forcing the night sky to shed its dark cloak and reveal all in one awe-inspiring moment,
Captured in time and memory.

Cycles

Soft rain falling on a drought filled brow
Earth rejoices here and now
Nourished by the slow downpour
Rising up on each lake shore
Flowers glisten in subdued light
Branches reaching
For day and night
Cascading sheets from each rain cloud
Grass blades sharpen well endowed
Gentle light now parts the sky
Captures every watching eye
Patches sweet of baby blue
Rain clouds dance away from you
The day continues bathed in light
Water beads they now take flight
Feel the dampness of the air
Humid memories we all share

Embracing Nature

I can feel the rush of the wind in my soul and it carries to my flesh as I look up at the
sky.

The rainbow smiles at me with a touch of sunshine just to make it so supreme.

The trees are flowing up high in the sky as the rain sprinkles on them.

Just to make them grow a little higher and to stay original.

I breathe in the mist of the rain as it cleanses my lungs.

I look at the crystal blue river and embrace its beauty as I see a touch of silver.

I find the flowers fragance so divine with anything that I could ever find.

Loving this and wanting to enjoy this is more than I could expect.

Seeing the sun waves good night, made me feel all right.

When the stars enter I feel so at peace in the center of it all.

I am just having a ball.

Thou Rain

THOU RAIN
Oh rain why art thou falleth
Isn’t it to stain the earth?
Yes! To accord a soothing comfort
Oh rain why art thou falleth
Aren’t you on a mission?
Hmm... To rescue the earth
To vomit her eternal burden

Premium Member Rain Drops

the rain drops spuratically
hitting every pane of glass
till all is wet to touch
the rain pours deeper now
splattering upon the grass
till it's too much
the rain a steady stream along the driveway crease
filling the drain
washing away the leaves of winter past
how many tears can angels cry over the world's mass?

Stormy Weather

Musty, earth scents adorn the air
aromas of the grass and flowers
lift into your lungs.
You know the rain is coming.

This is the rain,.....the rain of Africa,
 ..South Africa
Clouds linger, lightning strikes
thunder roars, the heavens
open and unleash a fury of water
Hard heavy pelting to the streets and walkways
cleans the gutters
washes the cars

ten minutes of torrential rain,
then sunshine, steam rising from the streets
grass sparkling with tear drops from the sky

Premium Member The Threat of a Late Winter's Storm

Delicate verdant leaves on the Weeping Willow dance in the brisk wind like a harem dancer's
sheer covering. The sighing of the pines sounds like a cymbal gently playing. As rain
droplets sparse and large touch bounce upon late winter's earth, gray amassed clouds pass
over at a moderate rate speed...Then stillness__Is this the quiet before the major storm or
only a repose giving the turbulance a break from blowing in the storm from the west? The
Star Magnolia that was devoid of flowers yesterday fifteen open in different stages..Will the
harsh wind and rain destroy their beauty and let only such a brief life be theirs? The
Japanese Magnolia has flowers open in different stages with more on it than ever a year
before..The Bradford Pear buds opened during the cold late winter's night gracing all who
pass with their gracious beauty...Yes, as in life the storm did blown with harsh winds and
chilling rain...Damage was done to the lovely spring buds and blooms..After the storm, the
survivors were hanging on with a quiet strenght..

Premium Member Rain-

We took no notice of a sky turning gray
Upon the ever changing, brooding afternoon
The rain at last, that finally tiptoed in
We almost missed the laughter, but for leaves
That murmured quick surprise along the eaves
And tapped with chatter on the window-pane
But having heard, we left our cozy place
And stepped outside into the evening air
To feel the slope of rain upon our faces
And could even hear the rustling trees
Pitter patter, dripping laughter
With song of raindrops in the night
                                   ~
prelude to bedtime
rain comes as a child
behind leaden eyes
and indignation
sky puckers up
with an angry brow
and brooding face
sputtering
with warm tears-
howling pleas
day weeps
til’ night
sleeps
   ~

Do not cry or lament the rain
Just look for where the rainbow begins
                                         ~

a sobering sky

spills a tear upon the dust...

         earth's quivering chin

Rumble In the Clouds

The wind roared to the sun
The sun boasted about onto the flowers
The flowers dodged the bees
The grass said "Ouch!" every time my feet trampled upon it
Wind told me it was feeling under the weather
While the rain got offended and came down on it hard
Bullied it back beyond the clouds
The clouds stood as one
And filtered the whole sky
Marching coast to coast
Waving a plain white flag
Beckoning the bashful sun to show again
The sunshine has gained a courage
And told the rain to get lost
The rain cried gently as its last stand
Flew far west where he might be more appreciated
The flowers waved goodbye for their petals were soaked
The bees came back to suckle more
But the wind stomped in hard and blew them away
The sun finished having his garden party
But grew tired and lowered himself down for the night
Moon walked galantly past
Ushered by his obnoxious stars
They twinkled and sparkled conceitedly
While the Night let open how his day had gone

Premium Member Fickle Weather

This morning, when I awoke
The rain was thundering down.
So hard, so fast,
Sounding like drums on the roof.

Then... it stopped.

Now the sun is brightly beaming down.
The wet leaves, still dripping
Have a glorious shine to them.
Everything looks so bright,
Fresh.

Through the trees
I see the clear blue sky.
Soft white clouds
Where only an hour before
A dark rain cloud
Covered everything.

Fickle weather.
