Stormy Weather

Musty, earth scents adorn the air
aromas of the grass and flowers
lift into your lungs.
You know the rain is coming.

This is the rain,.....the rain of Africa,
 ..South Africa
Clouds linger, lightning strikes
thunder roars, the heavens
open and unleash a fury of water
Hard heavy pelting to the streets and walkways
cleans the gutters
washes the cars

ten minutes of torrential rain,
then sunshine, steam rising from the streets
grass sparkling with tear drops from the sky
