Motherly Aunt

A mother
A carer
An aunt she might be
A growing bond like a best friend is what she is to me

A warm and comforting heart of love and care
A strong personality that would take on a dare
Reflects as inspiration in her glare

Footprints I will follow as it guides me a far
Shadow I want to live in as unique and bright like a star

I might not be there physically today
Celebration of my two favourite people's birthdays -
HOORAY!
Wishing you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

                         Motherly Love and Frowns

Treading down the memory lane streams to my mind
memories from far yet near, some sweet, some sour,
memories preciously shelved in the precincts of my inner sanctum;

so sweet were the mindful motherly hugs of love
like the embrace of a divine angel
so serene soft and self-assuring her smiles
         like the spring selfless sunshine
so delicious her warm kisses on the forehead
that no other feel can replace,
yet interspersed at times with some harsh words
	for playing hide and seek on the sideway street;

so soft was the caress of her hands on the cheeks
that not even a beloved can bestow
so cool and compassionate her cuddly care
         no considerate nurse can dispense
so pleasing to rest on her merciful knees
more so after a hectic day`s fatigue,
yet interposed often times with some scowls
        for dusting my clothing or getting home late after cycle rides;

In afterthought, her love and frowns have made me the man I am.

‘I was born with the meaning of home running through my veins.’ - Lauren Eden
**************************************************************

Light

with home rule in my veins
paternal care not vain words
 motherly hug a retreat
sisterly smiles like rays of sunshine
the mind free to wander like the breeze
early to rise a routine
offering devotions a sheer joy
the glow of inner light
now illumines my journey of life
goads me to the rightful path
ever keeps me company
as a benign guardian
as I steadily trail my footsteps
during the midday sunshine
in the solemn silence of sunset
alongside solitary moonlit footpaths
and in the darkness of night
when I retreat home
to lay my head back on my pillow

Motherly - Nyasia Wiley

How can you heal a broken heart
When the purity of your own
Has been tainted
With the viewpoints of hatred
For the souls you trusted
With your own

How can I not run
When my own life has been
Nothing but a pure understanding
Of my own pain and suffering

For yet I give you all I can
Knowing that the only person that
Suffers, in the end, is me

But I will smile
And say “I love you”
As if that is what the mother
I never had
Said to me

Because being the person
I never had

I became motherly

In Mary's Warm Arms

In the freezing night
In the cold world of mankind
In Mary’s warm arms
Laid burning love wrapped in flesh
An incinerating light

Motherly Love

Tik tok goes the clock
With each set of time
Her energetic vibrant being
turns frail
She who i'll never call by her name

In retrospect,she raged
Against this decadent diabolical world
She raged to give her bairns the best of life,
The tenderness of her infinite love
In equal measure we give our allegiance

Albeit in absence of economic strength
We never went to sleep with growling tummies
Neither did we walked bare and unstitched
And the coldest of the nights went by unperceived

Even in her recurrent nostalgia phase
I still see her
The sailor who weathered the storms for me
The soldier who fought my unseen battles
The angel that brougt tranquility within in the dead of the night

In all eternal divine
Through her brisk and lethargic life
I hold her in my warm embrace
My fourth god
My begetter.

Premium Member Nature's Motherly Beauty

In nature's realm, beauty lies.
Where mother's love forever flies.
A tapestry of colors, vivid and grand,
With a gentle touch of mother's hand.

As dawn awakens and the skies ignite,
With a vibrant palette of pure delight.
The sun, a mother's warm embrace,
Kissing the earth with golden grace.

A symphony of birdsong fills the air.
Echoing the love that mothers share.
Going from a high peak to a low plain.
Nature's glamour starts to shine again.

In every breeze, a gentle caress
Nature's love, a motherly finesse
The rivers flow, a soothing balm.
To wipe out our rage and render us calm.

From the mountains high to valleys low,
Nature's beauty begins to show.

Premium Member Some Suspiciously Specious Motherly Advice

Happy National Parents Day (tomorrow, July 24) to all you Poetry Soup moms who are, ever have been, or who would like to be. And with this caveat...be careful what you tell your children. They often tend to be quite liberal with your meaning and quite literal in their interpretations.

My mama taught me manners
That serve me to this very day,
But there's one I never understood
Nor could fully quite condone.
Mama said:
"Don't slurp the soup,
And sit up straight,
And eat every bean
And pee on your plate."
I didn't question her advice…
'cause moms are never wrong…
But because of it,
Now I'll only consume legumes
When I'm alone.
So, mamas, when you give advice,
I urge you to be wary,
Lest your kid, like me,
Grows up to be
A victim of vocabulary.

Premium Member Calming Motherly Qualms

“… Progress toward retrogression…”
yes, I questioned diagnosis with mixed emotions
as fear swelled over courage, striving to prevail
yet, faith in God* surmounted my motherly qualms.
Now, our special child in his wheel chair zooms toward progress
singing praises to the Lord in sign language blissfully.

*Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Motherly Bug

first things first you think the worst
take my worst days and make them worse
dismiss my words so my side's not heard
and kick like strangers when I'm down hurt

I fall out with friends you side with them
isolate me further with sympathy for them
if the world's against me you side against
you make me feel worse then do it again

they say you only ever have one
but Mum you mother like I have none
why turn to you when I can turn and run
please understand the bond is done

The love a mother gives will last a lifetime~
The lack of love she gives will last for two.

Motherly Musings

I always wanted to be a mother
‘It’s painful’,
‘You will suffer!’,
Yet I always wanted, to be a mother.

A mother I became,
Not once but twice
A son and a daughter
Life was nice.

Until they grew up,
in the literal sense,
Their attitude developed,
grim and intense.

Respect for me,
Was ego to them,
Things out of control,
I was overwhelmed.

To pull things back,
I was adamant.
I stirred the dream
That lay dormant.

I always wanted
To be a mother
For she is special
Like no other.

A person who loves you
Not for your face
Who keeps in her heart
Forever a place.

For you to snuggle
When the seas are rough,
Often for her though,
It may be tough.

Today as I smile
At my precious gems,
I realise proudly
I am that person for them.

No matter how painful
Or how much I suffer
I’ll always be,
Their special mother.
