Monkey Business
The bear was quite happy,
or so it seemed, alone in a
damp, cold, gray stone den.
Until the children on a trip
visited the zoo. Riotous, noisy,
and unsupervised bullies all
jeering at the bear, throwing
peanuts and insults at this
hulking, lonely, beast.
Cowering amid the debris
he rails against the onslaught
his roar awakening,
weakly at first, then fueled
