To the veteran; daughter, son
We honor you for all you’ve done.
Throughout the land, our flags we raise;
A grateful nation gives you praise.
From general to private class,
Unsung heroes and honored brass
Receive our broken, heart-felt gaze.
A grateful nation gives you praise.
No benefit nor medal pin
Begins to fill the debt within
Each fallen tear reflects a glaze
A grateful nation gives you praise.
Widows know and children feel it:
Freedom’s price, they so reveal it!
Ceremonies, wreaths they have laid
A grateful nation gives you praise.
No greater love, than sacrifice
All veterans have paid a price
May thankful prayers be upraised
A grateful nation gives you praise.

The rich green leaves of Summer die in Autumn
like a love that is no more
both defenseless to the currents of change
tumbling toward an unfamiliar stream
flowing out of a sea
where yesterdays have already passed
carrying dusted memories, entwined by the twist of life
where wishes are hidden with lost stars
of memorialized misperceptions
having come and gone like vanishing time
when the shivering swathe arrived
taking both the leaves and love
on a hopeless journey to non-existence
when emotionless worlds acquired their life-blood
causing my eyes to flow with streams
out of a sea of sadness

It's a winter wonderland
pure, pristine, clean,
cleansed of the darkness
given to the transition of the light
release from the cold blackness of night.
The morning sun rise glistens
reflective rays listening
winds blowing off the cotton ivory coverlets
from every bouncing branch
within the chill of winter's first dance.
Snug and warm within closed doors
safe, protected in the confines of these walls
the season echoes a recurring call,
of peace, goodwill, promised hope
from the gifts of Heaven's host.
A celebration of life living from sacrifice
the heart fires begin to ignite
decorating trees, ornaments and lights
for recollected finds
in memorialized Christmas time.
Two thousand years dusting the centuries
of the Christ child's entry
his birth along the once desolate earth
renewing hope, joy, promises and love
gifts from our Creator above
it's the bounty and gratitude
revealed in
the first snow
reminder of where
we have been..

Let no war death that wears a shroud,
And memorialized, do us proud.
Loud salutes distract us,
Nor pomp make undue fuss,
In vain are young heads rolled
For the ambitious old,
Silver streaks, stripes or not, dark goes death cloud.

Poet’s note: Wars are raging on many fronts in the world today. The ambitious old and the powerful plot these fights and young men pay the price with death. We must remember this before we commemorate fallen soldiers who are felicitated with medals in the spirit of Memento Mori in a matter-of-fact manner.

It lay
halfway down the hall,
once the spare bedroom styled
where out of state family once sprawled,
for a while.
Grown now,
two states away
with families of their own
all too busy for a visit these days
back home.
My niece once remarked
that the room is pervaded
by remnants of Christmas collectibles parked
in dusted positions faded
for my heart's memorialized condition sparked.
Herein displayed
the many gifts they gave
so many Santa and Angel figurines
Baby Jesus on parade
in happier masquerades once seen.
As the season approaches
with every possibility of time recalled
the past encroaches
in the hopes and dreams, we still applaud
the sanctuary of the Christmas Room.

innocence memorialized in candlelight
as we sit and dream in its gleam
of flickering and playful flames
timeless and free flowing
finding each other in the midst of longing
vigilant in the rapture of a touch
reimagined
ritualizing the oneness of our being
connected in the purest form
within the glow of warm light and soft wishes
without the barriers of the tick-tock clock
endlessly - breathlessly
lost in love

The first and final time
Not that we knew it
Still half closed, to the world
Cocooned eye and wing
As life's adventurer
Love's, without compare.
If wayward, both accounts.
Butterfly-like in.

We Swooning Sparking Sparkling Fiery Fierce Lovers, By Davieo, David Rothchild
We Swooning Sparking Sparkling Fiery Fierce Lovers
When we were wholly as one true being complete
Long known birth names could not be recalled
A body was a sublime sky shaping unmovable mountain
Eyes were closed, translucent time faring glowing minds
Were lit with supernal love, diamond-sapphire happinesses
Kisses rained like golden rivers of sky posed painted joys
A love ocean deep rebalanced, memorialized empyrean emotions.

With just one glance her enchanting smile won
Cadence of his heart crooning: she was the one
And fairy-tale of sweethearts had thus begun
Stealing stealthily the missives of alluring eyes
Gawking sundown on ebullient magenta skies
Welcoming newfound tempo passions bestow
In temple of his soul where halos of love glow.
Tethered to that moment strums song of yore
Serenading love, lauding memories sublime,
Extolling moment divine, firmly etched in time,
Never conquered since, nor tendered before,
Pulsing strings of hearts its rhythms now implore
Gilded autumns of fervor to forever blaze ardor
As melodies romantic soar, warbling evermore.
Years have traversed, yet, he treasures that smile
Eloquent in her style, as sensuous eyes beguile,
While tolling bells of fate blissful hymns chime:
Oh! how one sweet moment became a lifetime,
Neither shall it wither, nor fade from its prime;
This moment divine, now memorialized in time~
Tethered to it journeys, his blessed life sublime.

Stones
smooth and rounded pebbles now grown
placed strategically by wind and rain
washed clean, rough edges,
polished gloss reflections of time memorialized;
rocks
once impaled upon mountains,
long ago set free, released from earthen clay
sleek, lustrous serene entities transfixed
by historic renderings forgotten;
sand
gravel pounded down, crushed
strained by the source of life
ocean waves, waterfalls, rivers, streams
pushing, pulling, tugging along the centuries;
earth
ground silt, sedimentary deposits
renewed, refined, rebuilding,
returned to its origins
ready, anxious, eager to renew itself.

Fury, wrought in a bygone age
Memorialized and destroyed in a tumble
Heaped on the pile of broken dreams and promise
We are each one gods —drained of our icor
Each moment—closer to the forgotten
Where the west lies oh so precious—
Each moment—closer to the forgotten
At arm’s length, cheering until
Now is your time to shine
Your time to live
Your time to formally acquiesce
All the pounding—no one heard
Each moment—closer to the forgotten
Where the west lies oh so precious—
Each moment—closer to the forgotten
At arm’s length, cheering until
At arm’s length, noises forgotten

Firehouse dalmatians with goofy faces,
Your fine reputation is clearly the aces.
In every single solitary one of your cases.
You were bestowed with marvelous graces.
Not one of those dogs in movies that chases
Majestic true loyalty in all kinds of dog places.
You show your love in all kind of traces.
We’ve memorialized you, in our firehouse foot races.

A discordant drumbeat from Washington comes
Lawmakers to senseless partisanship succumb
Midst the darkness, light a candle
Pave the way for the Savior to come
From the Oval Office menacing texts and tweets
Leaving a sour taste behind holiday treats
Midst the darkness, light a candle
Thrill to the triumph of the Maccabees**
Social media's blasphemers, angry trolling mobs
Intimidating their victims, making them sob
Midst the darkness, light a candle
Send a signal to the bullies and snobs
Terrorism the world over rears its ugly head
So many innocents, injured or dead
Midst the darkness, light a candle
May the Flame of Goodness be spread
**The Maccabees restored and rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem,
including the Menorah Lamp, their brave deeds memorialized in the
Holiday of Chanukah.

Starry Night
There are moments in your life that will live in your heart forever
Moments that will take your breath away
Indelibly etched into your very soul.
And will never be forgotten.
Memorialized.
My first such moment was laying on my back at night
Looking up at the night sky in awe.
Taking in the wondrous splendor
Of the heavens above
Mesmerized
The band of the Milky Way stretched across the length of the sky
Blazing a trail of light as far as the eye could see
A myriad of stars too numerous to count
Brning into my retinas
Hypnotized
Although that night was so long ago I recall it so vividly
I can call to mind the awe it filled in me
If I live to be a hundred years old
I will never forget.
Crystalized.
For me those moments are food to nourish my soul
Such happy memories for when sadness calls
When I need to remind myself
It happened to me
Realized
There was no social media to share this wondrous moment with
No cellphone camera to record for future posterity
Only my minds eye to recapture it
And play it back again.
Memorized.
For eternity.
