Surely one day,
I won’t know ‘alone’.
Surely one day,
I won’t go,
I won’t go anywhere alone.
Surely one day,
I can hold on to you,
Whenever I’m cold.
Surely some way,
I can hum to you,
The tune to our song.
I don’t know no dance,
But you make me laugh,
Smile,
I’m stuck in your trance.
You know you cross my mind,
You make my heart beat,
So fast,
I wanna slow dance.

Thinking of what the top looks like, and everytime the scent of fear comes back.
Mediocre me, weakly me, silly me, frequently thinking and dreaming of greatness weekly - The fire burning in my chest as I dive deeply into daydreaming.
But I want this to be real, I want to be more than just a dream, I want to be more than just me.
Fear creeping in, death driving me deep, despair pulling my feet, but I hear that the heavens only honour men that grit their teeth - for this reason I refuse to remain just silly, weakly, mediocre ME.

Things are not the same anymore--
People wash their hearts with mediocre
Busted pieces spilled and cracked;
Now a later point in time;
Just like a candy-bar melting;
Things won’t be the same anymore;
People wash their hands before;
Dirty feet and broken teeth;
Baby crying in the crib;
Doesn’t mean he can speak, lie and fib;
Muddle waters;
I taste, I drink;
I take my bathes in the kitchen sink;
My pinky toe smells like rotten eggs;
On the lawn under the porch where I sleep, I lay;
Things are not the same anymore;
People wash their hearts with mediocre;
Dirty minds and broken hearts;
Mother’s and wife’s burying their sons and husbands from the crib;
Urban slum ghetto ridge such an unruly way to live;
Doesn’t mean justice and liberty can speak, it so do lie and fib;
Things are not the same anymore;
People wash their hearts with mediocre;

Expctaisons…
No, it’s spelled “expectations.”
I spelled it wrong.
I disfigured the written word.
I am mediocre.
If you couldn’t tell.
I didn’t intend it that way.
But then it was five years later.
I am trying to maintain the illusion of being stubborn.
Because in the wrong circumstances, I am fragile.
Which maybe aren’t mutually exclusive?
Anyway,
I am mediocre.
But at least I have a nice smile.

Mediocrity, Excellence two shores
Waves of Efforts connecting shores
Surf on tide, swim against flow of ocean
Be ashore leveraging art of propulsion
Mediocrity, a reality, almost repulsive
Excellence, a rarity, almost elusive
Race of Excellence, making man a rat
Each gnawing at other to breast the tape
Peaks exist because of bottom layers
Underneath layers vital for peak to be there
Peak below feet, mark of Excellence pursuit
Feet dragging at layers, a mediocre feat
Peak and layer, complementary pair
Live with conviction, dash of dare
Peak accommodates just few
If at layer, gear up, stir up, be amongst few

Mediocre we need not flatter
With laurels on a cheap platter:
Hero’s Effort make a matter;
A dropped metal’s heavy clatter…
“What is right” we foully batter
And Future Foundation scatter,
When save we just can The Latter
And ensure True Victory later…
Mediocre we must not flatter:
On our clothes staining mud spatter;
Problems feed and they are fatter,
Tires allowed to be flatter...
Don’t forget FIFA’s Staunch Blatter;
No Cups to have on a platter.

Words that do not speak to me
Fine poetry may very well be
My taste, middling mediocre
No literary bona fides

The most gifted poets who ever wrote
Occasionally penned gibberish and tripe
Even Coleridge, Wordsworth, and Keats
Sometimes were at a loss for words
In exchange for a royal coin or a token
Valued principles were sometimes broken
Even poets will follow the popular herds
To sit with the noted, the famous elites,
Writing mediocre poems of every stripe
I pluck my own beam, seeing their mote.

Rapid beats keep me sane in woe
Stress leaves, only for panic to settle
Guffaws prevent a show of shame
A day of commitment, followed by a day of inconsistency
Failure known, a choice concluded.
Blank paper, equivalent to unknown writings
Basics discarded as a device is employed
Habits adopted, leave hope weary
Repetitive recollections, curse continuation
Blurred vision, drowns in regret.
Excuses sought after, not excusing
Hours of availability, passed by a tense mind
Empathy discovered through similarity
Nerves made less taut, only for a will to give
Lessons that toll, make learning strenuous.
Perseverance momentary, as priorities fluctuate
Unread messages, precede books of progress
Lines written, to be forgotten
Evasive understanding, denies marks
Attempts to absorb, futile efforts.
Fading smiles, magnify reality
The fear of the probable, punctuated by the expected
Vocal lies, temporarily disengages the silence of truth
An aching head, webbed in despair
A mediocre mistake, extends a lengthy journey.

Had natural touch
And loved his playing so much
We did stay in touch.
Was mediocre
When we first met our broke
And I could choke her.
Want to retire
Stock in straits that are dire
Liquidate entire.
The last Super Bowl
Seriously had took a toll
Ended up in hole.

I went berserk
I went Down
Down Under the ocean
Down Under the sea
Sea for invisible to be
Sea for none to see
See the limits
See the Rules
Rules to restrict
Rules to follow
Follow the leader
Follow the mediocre
Mediocre is the way to be
Mediocre is the way of life
Life that is bourgeois
Life that is ordinary
Ordinary gets accepted
Ordinary gets praised
Praise the like minded
Praise never the merit
Merit excels
Merit kills
Kill the Merit
Kill the competition
Competition breeds competition
Competition needs competitor
Competitor works
Competitor takes risks
Risk may earn
Risk may reward
Reward is a bribe
Reward is a carrot
Carrot is shown to a horse
Carrot encourages greed
Greed is unending
Greed never stops
Stop the work
Stop the downfall
Downfall cripples
Downfall hurts
Hurt those who push
Hurt others
Others need to imitate
Others need to follow
Follow you
Follow the mediocre
Mediocre is guarded
Mediocre is protected
Protected
Guarded

Often times I can't remember
What I mastered long ago
Relentless as a timber
Wiped out by wind's blow
I try so hard to recollect
My most favorite, finest skill
To fulfill what they expect
My brain, a hollow wheel
Diverting attention becomes my mission
Ignoring my trembling hands
Relax and breathe, though full of tension
Answering the task's demands
Excuses, excuses, I carry a list
Insurance for any storm
Tightly clinched, angry fists
The room becoming warm
Never heard "reach for the stars"
Only, "stick to what you know"
Always ranking just below par
I learn a little slow
