My team had just lost a volleyball match and I realized my water bottle was empty
I was filling it up when I said to my friend next to me, my whole team's kinda depressed
He responded, ya I saw their faces and they all looked mad then I saw yours and you were your usual self
This touched me because I work really hard to be positive and it's showing because my friend said that's how I usually am
I was the only one on my team that wasn't sad, I was smiling, goofing around and talking to everyone
Don’t get jealous; Be awesome.
Be awesome, stay awesome.
your moment of concentration
has me mesmerised
I'm no longer a poet ~
just a fool with unuttered longing
this day already drew its close
but I can steady my weary gaze
settle it upon you
all but your beauty ebbs away ~
I look on with tired eyes
"lit by a match"
I'm half dreaming ~
my favoured state
and you
within arm's reach
as I drift aloft
caught between the shadows and smoke
that swirl together
one last time
Inspired by The Sulphur Match by John Singer Sargent
My spinner’s simply not a match
For when the wind is rough.
I reinforce its pole with stones
But that is not enough.
The ground is hard and rocky
So it’s tough to hammer in,
Though as soon as it’s erect,
The slightest breeze will make it spin.
I’m on the back porch writing
With the wind chime’s tinkling sound
When, with one big gust, that spinner
Tipped and fell upon the ground.
I’ll head outside and stand it up
And it will work, I trust -
At least until the next time
There’s a more insistent gust.

The Revenge of Match Girl
Never will I allow myself to die in this dim zone
Though the snowy night freezes me to the bone
I will not expire this way all alone!
Come with me my selfish & cold community
As I warm your houses alongwith thee
You also deserve to burn alongwith me!
So rise now, oh match girl and show them your wrath
This is the moment to bring this town to its blood bath
Add pain, subtract life, multiply death, divide homes – perfect math!
Oh little matches, let's begin with this dry barn – our chance
Let us confound these creatures from exit to entrance
Dodge with my army of flames as they try to advance
From house to house as we paint the town red
Like the fires of hell, like the blood of head
Like the wrath of volcano, like roses on bed
Burn! Leave no trace of this rotten civilization
This is the night of its fated extinction
Watch the Revenge of Match Girl in fullest demonstration!

Truly land is the free gift of nature
But women are the free gifts of treasure
Truly land do not depreciate
But women are just priceless
Men may not always appreciate
Their good deeds that are simply selfless
Land may bear more fruits
But women bear more wears
How much attention to their hoots
That are silent to their children cares
The fear of men and their stubbornness
Not enough a promoter marketing sternness
In case you still doubt your definition
You are the most beautiful miracle of God
You are a gift from heavenly abode
I not only care for you but I love you dear
For at the end of the day, you are our mother.
The most relevant documented reservation
For there cannot be a better gift than a mother to a child
Her heart is so clean, beautiful and strong, yet so very mild
The love that a mother has is so unique and so very rare
No matter how much time passes it will just never wear
She is this guardian angel sent to protect you
She will forgo the world but never leave you blue
Happy Mother's day, dear Mom.
Have I really found my true sincere and safe sanctuary
In something other than my once onesided poetry...?
Upon meeting; a reunion filled with familiarity.
Christmas 2025
2025.12.25
Monkey, monkey sits on the desk,
Do you witness him still surfing on the internet.
Ask him out to get some sun light,
Walk on the beach or wade in the sea.
There are so many things to see.
Broaden his mind and enjoy the sunshine.
This Christmas, the presents
Were much less than last year
Not because of being stingy,
Or love him less than what was used to be.
It was purely because ......
Strangely this year,
There was no Christmas lights,
Decorated in front of his house.
What has happened to him,
No celebration nor decoration?
Did he know that,
Everyday for the past six months,
His favourite song was the first
And the last piece of music
I play at the piano.
He was the person who introduced me,
To the world of music and encourage me to play,
Yet, he never knew nor had a chance to hear
What I play everyday.
Faith, that was all about faith.
Merry Christmas and Happy New my dear.
Good bye and good luck to you.
Ill go
where the match meets the flame
Where embers ignite
the empty space that remains
Ill sit
by the trembling door frame
Where dry bones weep
The words leave my charred tongue,
seeps through my teeth
"5 flares in still waters"
This is where love meets
Joy jumping out of bed.
Mud in my eye; well,
in my mug.
Click kicking heels together.
The weather is fine;
so am I.
Magnanimously smiling.
A peep at pre-rise;
no delay.
Yes, up before the match
strikes in the horizon;
yellow leaves of sun.
I’m undone by my God
who supplies all His riches
in glory.
Perhaps, you’re still
under the sheets,
buried in sleep.
Pre-rise tomorrow!
Click kick heels &
Joy jump out of bed!
I’ll wave at you
as you pour mud
in your mug.
"The Match"
Time falls like a traitor
it smiles at you through mirrors
you see all faces surrounding you
other than your own
each a voice imprinted in your memories
a part of the Word's words,
remonstrations tumbling
through your voiceless throat,
they respond hitting the walls
leaving hollow hieroglyphs
promises that slip,
some self-righteous Umpire
calls the serve landing out of bounds
and doesn’t hesitate to record a fault;
through the backhand grip
your own thoughts
are ghost written volleys
that skim without hesitation
over the net
bouncing towards
the inexperienced experienced
their hearts,
hands, eyes, and lips
the memories are lost in unplugged sockets
still,
they take they’re hit
you smash it back
full hilt;
you think you are electric
time falls like a traitor
and everyone
in their own mind
one way or another
thinks they’re in the game
a winner,
even loser’s think
they’re winners in the end,
they take their hit;
love-all
just the same
and you are lit.

One summer day Speedy Gonzales
met a very sweet girl named Alice
she liked his big yellow sombrero
it complemented her little bolero
AP: Honorable Mention 2025
A truckful of drunks
half-skunked boozers
gun racks in the back
unlucky losers
pulled up to the pumps
for a gallon or two
only high octane
tanked would do
then one had a bad itch
he started to scratch
wanted a smoke
and when he lit a match
the explosion was heard
three miles away
to arrive alive
do what they say
'Don't drink and drive'
and yes it's true
it could ruin your day
smoking is bad for you
I light the match
And watch the flame flicker.
The flame is bright,
A beautiful blue, orange and yellow.
I know that if I touch this flame
I’ll be burned. Perhaps scarred.
But as I stare at this dancing flame
All I can think of is the beauty.
So I reach out with my other hand,
Slowly, tentatively, purposefully.
But then I stop, look at the flame.
And I think about what I’m doing.
Then I drop the match.
I watch the flame, stare at it.
In the back of my mind hoping I don’t get burned.
Lift voice on air
Yell last hurrahs
Ball not come in.
Powerless jump
Tall guy rebound
Ball on long hand.
Point guard dribble
Pair by pair watch
Clock is ticking.
Score tied match
Desperate move
One sunk the three.
