I was sitting on the corner, stoned
When out of the blue, my dead aunt phoned
How could this be, she rests in peace
Right beside my loving niece
I answered the phone, and my auntie said
"I know you think that I am dead"
"I'm alive"- my auntie moaned
Or- could it be that you're just- "Stoned" by Charles Messina
Niece Alice bakes brownies with magic herbs
She uses rich chocolate, and flour, two thirds
Before Auntie June gets out of bed
Alice feeds the cat and minds his head
She shared a snack and laugh with you
And now you’re happy and Auntie June is too
When auntie asks why your eyes grow and grow
You say “Go ask Alice, I think she’ll know”
A few weeks ago I stopped
smoking pot as an experiment.
Easier than I thought-
I’ve had practice. Depth
of feeling starts coming back
like micro-bullets to the cranium
so invisible to the naked eye that
every corner shields a perpetrator.
Part of me likes it, this blitz of feeling
because it turns out I’m masochistic
like that and feeling a pinch dead
gets boring after awhile. Creeps
up on you like an unwanted flat-
mate on a sock by sock flit
to your only spare room and you didn’t
even notice for the cupcakes.
But granted, everybody’s different.
Did you know that the worst
time to have a heart attack
is during a game of charades?
Demetri Martin said that.
A few weeks ago I wouldn’t
have laughed.
Yesterday I did.
She says she prefers weed
That its as wholesome as green trees
But if she’s a marijuana queen
Why can’t she do more than eat
Babies need their mothers
Men need their lovers
But her only desperate desire
Is to set Mary Jane on fire
Is it a gateway drug
For many it is a help
For her it’s not enough
She mooches off everyone else
Maybe her teens wasn’t a dream
And she had childhood trauma
But nearly thirty and it seems
She is the cause of today’s drama
I’m not a fan of anything
That kills your motivation and dreams
Your drug of choice isn’t working
Please abort and start praying
Monday rolls up
there's not much to say
morning grey drizzle
seems on for the day
Perfection in circles
sizzling bud in a pipe
rings reach for the ceiling
fat, round, and tight
Rib-eye sits resting
six eggs on the pan
I mix three margaritas
then turn off the fan
After breakfast times two
it's all rhythm and blues
laying back on the sofa
settling into the soothe
Another hit from the bowl
guitar, drums and bass
sets the mind free to dream
in one's calm inner space
Marijuana sommelier,
A marijuana or weed expert.
A Mary Jane professional.
Someone happy
to let the grass grow.
Not a junkie or druggie,
but a pro, a get high expert.
Weed connoisseur.
As a kid, If I had known
about this profession,
I would’ve been up there
with the best of them,
like Cheech and Chong.
But don’t get me wrong
I’m here to confess
I used to smoke
some of the best.
Sesa-million,
Acapulco gold
Hemp and haze.
As I give a dime bag praise,
those were the good old days.
I still miss having the munchies,
I would clean out the kitchen cabinets
and the refrigerator.
Eating everything that didn’t move.
And some things that did…
I smoke until my eyes bleed
And a friend I do not need
For if there was a stud
Who'd think he was a bud
Was it rather smoking weed
Track: Wiz Khalifa - Reefer Party :p
With roots in hell,
beware her spell.
Poison to sell,
keeping you well.
Masking the pain,
in no way sane.
Frying the brain,
life down the drain.
try cannabis they say
people I did not know even knew the word cannabis
religious people
judgemental people
strict, status quo, black and white people
In my wildest imagination I never expected some of them
To even know what cannabis is
Let alone to recommend it to me
as a possibility.
I thought I knew these people
But life changes things
Pain and cancer brings out new possibilities
Pain and cancer brings new ideas to the fray
Desperation makes cannabis seem okay
And pain brings desperation
Legalize all drugs
Because when you do
the drug dealers will leave
For they will no longer make a profit.
They will go to a different world, maybe a different planet
But please legalize marijuana first
For the people are shaking
and their eyes are quaking
and they have cancers and other ailments
that can be readily calmed and cured by marijuana
So let's get it to them, and quickly.
Let's heal the people.
Legalize all the drugs.
Especially marijuana
For we need it to stop the sorrow and the sickness
We need it to calm our nerves and make us into better
Sides of ourselves
Legalize all the drugs
Let's heal the country
The drug dealers will leave
If they cannot make a profit
why would they stay?
We are
A nation
Of drug
Addicts
Legal or not
Why wont my
Health insurance
Cover medical
Marijuana
2019
Still oppressed
We take ourselves so seriously
that we cannot take a joke
The chance we might offend means
we don’t talk to different folk
And our taxes keep on rising
‘til we might just have a stroke
But we’ll all still vote for Liberals
(pffffffffffp)

~Marijuana~
I fly
High and high
To the reverberation
To the bliss
I fly
High and high
To the goddess
To the serenity
To make love with the unsung hymns
I fly
High and high
With the puff
Pondering Self, the elf
Calming down
When the whiff gulps down
The pain
The body weight
I fly
High and high
To the void
Knowing I am not this
I am not that
Searching the Self, THE I
I fly
High and high

Marijuana
Drug tests,
loss of employment,
Jail sentences.....
and even execution !
Medical issues,
and I get legalised,
Killing symptoms.....
of cancer and HIV !
I am marijuana !
Recreation
forget about,
That's illegal !
Killing of pain,
gain in disease,
Well that's legal !

For Debbie Guzzi's contest 'Global poetry'
Theme-the legal use of marijuana
Awarded 5th place
I feel as if walking inside
an impressionistic painting, that too in 3D
as far as I can see, a world of dots and light
the same as what I’m made of.
I see summer in spring.
My eyes touch the sky and sky me.
I feel people staring at me
but why don’t they ask me about my Glaucoma.
My optic nerve, the cable, is damaged
And sends visual information to the brain
And can cause slight vision or even blindness
And am advised to take marijuana,
The most controversial choice
though there are alternative therapies.
I know smoking marijuana has been proven
to reduce intra ocular pressure
and prevents optic nerve damage
but takes a heavy toll
as one has to smoke multiple times a day
for the consistent results
adding to the global drama of medical marijuana.
I am trying it out but…….
Feeling the side effects of depression & exacerbate asthma.

Contest: Medical Marijuana by Debbie Guzzi
Open the flood gates of creativity
Human ingenuity enhanced by natural selection
Plants and herbs by all effective means
Affecting consciousness as the projector screen
Our thoughts but suave pendulum circles
Made evident from chambers of visible language
Emotional doors unleash the soul
Unrestricted imagination, intuitive belief
There's a reason why
Plants and people evolved together
