The Stoner

I was sitting on the corner, stoned
When out of the blue, my dead aunt phoned
How could this be, she rests in peace
Right beside my loving niece

I answered the phone, and my auntie said
"I know you think that I am dead"
"I'm alive"- my auntie moaned
Or- could it be that you're just- "Stoned" by Charles Messina

Niece Alice bakes brownies with magic herbs
She uses rich chocolate, and flour, two thirds
Before Auntie June gets out of bed
Alice feeds the cat and minds his head

She shared a snack and laugh with you
And now you’re happy and Auntie June is too
When auntie asks why your eyes grow and grow
You say “Go ask Alice, I think she’ll know”

Hi Anaya. This is a great topic…there are a lot of people who can relate. The picture says it all. Sending Chester Cat smiles and although I don’t use, I can understand why many do.

Cheshire Cat loves his catnip! & so Alice minds his head as well. Lol. Wonder if poets caught that, as you did dear Duke. Ty for the read, the laugh, & most of all your smile. Blessings

Hmmm is she using Mary Jane in those brownies too? That's what I think and I want one!! Good thinking for this contest. I really like the idea of this sponsor. I wrote my part. Just not posted it yet

The last line is a clever incorporation that I feel I should have seen coming considering her name. I wonder what percent of readers will recognize it. Charles seems the right age. I will enjoy writing for this contest. Alice minding 'his' head rather than 'her' head throws me unless the cat is male. Or maybe it's because I'm stoned and more focused on chocolate.

Haha, she minds everything & everyone's head, including Cheshire catnip, I went that route, pretty sure all have heard of the greatest song ever done..."White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane, if not, they know now. Ty, sweet CayCay, glad you enjoyed. Blessings
