You Lit the Match

Getting dumped
shouldn’t feel like shattering,
but it did.
It cracked something deep,
a place already bruised
by months of breaking silently.
And you knew.
God, you knew.

You knew about the storms I’d weathered,
the weight I was carrying quietly,
the wounds I never wanted to reopen—
but you pried them wide
in a matter of seconds
and called it closure.

You broke me
with a smirk,
like it was

The Hands That Lit Eternity

her hands
did not turn on light bulbs.
they were light bulbs,
they were clay vessels through which flowed
a light tired from too much godliness.

when she entered the room,
it wasn’t her who entered,
it was a silence that had lost its voice
in a burned temple,
and had come searching for it inside me.

Moonlight Lit on Pond at Night

The moon glows like a pearl on a dark pond.
Ripples fracture its reflection beyond.
Shadowy edges become a mysterious scene.
With its face becoming alive to gleam,
a demand that you read its lips and smile, 
to the omens it brings with gusto and guile.

The moon above has a fixed stare, stony-faced!
Reflected in the pond, it's wildly debased,
Crying

Moon: The Lit Lantern

Some time just before the sunset,
When the butterflies were gone,
The moon was on its way,
There was no eclipse, but it felt that way

When there was  darkness all around,
A beam entered in their life,
Turning the time around,
With 11:11, no longer on the clock

Beneath the sun's glaze, we often turn blind eye,
While seeing the perspective through

A LADY BUG LIT-

the lady bug lit
on me each step by step stuck
tiny wings waved hi!
~
fluttering moving
gently suddenly took off 
fled didn't say bye
~
as the lady bug flew
disappearing from my large view
abrupt not subdue

    A flame is lit
       a flame of freedom   

    Will it become a blazing torch 
       ~ or slowly lose support

As She Lit the Candle

She lit the candle in evening’s repose
then held the pages bound and decorated
in story-fabled paper coverings.
She buried her head in the words of others.

Arms outstretched and folded on a pillow,
she tightly held a lifetime of explanation.
As she opened each page of wishful longings
her thoughts drifted into unknown
yet sometimes familiar places.

comes to Me will hunger," book of John
answers, albeit at surface value, aplomb
nature believers' satisfaction that they too
disburden all. Book of Matthew in that it
lights, "Blessed those who hunger," oath
everybody who seeks in need will receive.
Lesson: Teaches a somewhat juxtaposition
insights side-by-side parity as it's entitled.
True believers hunger for God, He satisfies.

Eyes Lit On Fire Twilight Tribute

Misfit always out of step with the world,
Outsider longing to run forever;
Then into my reticent life you twirled; 
Proximity my only endeavor;
Eyes lit on fire and my appetite swirled,
there was no confusion whatsoever; 
The vampire in me kindled a sparkle,
Edward Cullen please make me immortal.

dim-lit bars

In the dim-lit corners of forgotten bars,
Where smoke dances with fallen stars,
I nurse my whiskey, neat and strong,
Lost in a world gone wrong.

The jukebox hums a melancholy tune,
As I drown my sorrows, glass by glass, noon to noon.
The neon lights flicker, casting shadows on my face,
A weary poet, seeking solace in this desolate space.

A Lit Wick

Drippy fingers I want to lick
sticky sweet with a quck pick;
Strawberries mix that jam 
it hits me a wild slam;
Bees tend to swarm a lit wick.
