Steel gates whisper his name in the wind,
Legends bow, their bravado dimmed.
A gaze like thunder, a voice like stone,
King of the shadows, he stands alone.
No chains could bind the fire inside,
No walls could tame his ruthless pride.
Even the hardest, the ones who don’t break,
Learned to watch their step, learned to hesitate.
He walks, and silence floods the halls,
No echoes follow, just loaded pause.
One misstep, one reckless glance,
Would seal a fate—not left to chance.
Respect carved deep like marks on stone,
A legacy sung in whispers alone.
Not through words, nor through might,
But through the weight of his burning sight.
Even guards keep their measured tread,
Prisons hold many, but not all are bred
From storms that rage, from roads untamed—
Only one name, forever ingrained.
He is the line, the line unbroken,
The name unchallenged, the word unspoken.
Even time, in quiet refrain,
Bows its head—won't call his name.
Two brothers hailed from the old country, from Donnybrook -
one more like an engineer, the other like a cook.
They specialized in pancakes - the best, you can't deny.
Sean made them taste like heaven, and Finn stacked them high.
Supplies came from all around, in wagons and in trucks.
Sean whipped up the batter, and ol' Finn he constructs,
with eggs from every chicken and milk from every cow,
maple syrup miracles from the oats that they did grow.
When these flapjack masters grew old and had to die,
they made a stack of hotcakes and they climbed it to the sky.
Kids, each time you eat griddle cakes, you should be like me,
stack 'em high and think of Sean and Finn McGee.
Honey tells me: Where do great stanzas come from
just out of your head when you're in-bed hon
so, they will say your mind went to our library
in books of yesterday you remember legendary words
you serf paragraphs lookin' to catch a rhyming phrase
of yesterday to bring it on your next line today or ways
cleaver enough to fit that new poem piece by piece
till it is just right to your style a real breeze...
simple rhymes to choose from a vast reservoir
only in your head all while in bed, furthermore
your poem pieces fit just fine your style for sure...
indeed, one cool kick ass metaphor
my hope is legendary
I believe in magic
The goodness of children
an enlightened empathetic world
my hope is prominent
I am full of optimism
that the races can all love each other
and we can do better than merely “tolerating” each other.
my hope gets me out of bed in the morning
She smacks me up the side of the head
If I allow myself the luxury of a negative thought
She is all encompassing, and a guiding light for me.
He came to me in a rhythm, an ordinary Black American woman, age 33
spilling gentile and Pinesol, and debris of his knee\
A couple of diamonds and pearls, said the dream, "Is the dreaming Awakening me, dearie?"
He showed me his face, his Rabbit hair, like a knight in the king's corner of a sultry, satin fair/
a couple of downy llamas and a few more Pinesol, please
I was in Alice in Wonderland's Labyrinth with a bunny-RABBIT, ahem. Please//
His name was Bugs Bunny, that rascally rabbit. He suited up and wore his gauntlet grid and familiarized himself with his Virginian, er, um, Virginity?
He called himself Shuyin, from Final Fantasy X-2, and the added prequel came from me, the Author and the Narrator of the Story.
[paraphrase of a Svan folksong]
I, I am Queen Tamar
I raised myself to Heaven
I dug up a barren mountain
I left only a deep hole
I put the sword to Constantinople
I drove them into the sea
I made their lands my lands.
March, that grumpy old lion,
has a legendary roar.
And yet, my hopes for spring soar,
on seeing my first dandelion.

Writing is my passion
The only thing I'll lap you in
Other than the track I ran
But that was way back when
So moving forward it remains
Who I am
Without all the pain
Without the grieving
Or the tragedies
Without all of those
Who I never let see
For when it comes down
You'll be without me
So soak in the memories
And hold them while you can
Because in the end
Im not the one with the plan
I'm not the only one whose there
I'm not the only one who cares
I've just been a shadow
Learning in the dark
Awaiting my moment
To finally leave my mark
To be a legend I don't understand
I'll continue being myself
To me that's just as grand
Continuing on my adventure
Not following any map
Awaiting the day
Where I'm no longer in the way
Or the empty gap!!!!
No copywriting

Always tread carefully
Among spoiled or fresh dairy
On either side of any estuary
Days and nights where the weather varies
Can't be focused on the unnecessary
Must be in my genes, call it hereditary
All this other is temporary
And secondary
Thought for once, I could achieve something legendary
Lately, I've been spending most of my time at the cemetery
The air of death carries
An eeriness, Don't go digging things up
Certain things are best left buried
It's just something I shouldn't have to bring up
"Hello" Is there anybody there?
Doesn't anybody care
Part of my career has been in veterinary care
Beware
In life it's just never very
Fair
Been in a rut since February
Most these rappers soft serve Ben and Jerry
Pure white in colour,
Lovely star like flowers,
With Sweet fragrance,
Believed to bring good luck and prosperity,
Is very auspicious and lucky,
Rare and legendary, resembling cactus,
Also great use for medicinal purpose,
Blooms only for one night,
In the entire year.
Wither and fades away with dawn.

Living Legend
When I'm through with it all
And my slippers are cold.
When my pipe is extinguished
And my favourite chair sold.
I wonder if all
Of those moments of life..
Like the picnics and laughter
Or the heart-ache and strife
Will be etched on a wall
For the newbies to find..
Or be words on a page
Of inspirational kind?
Will a shadow be cast
Where I kept out the light?
Or a candle of hope
Lifting spirits at night?
When I'm absent
Unable to fix the worlds wrongs
Will my ears hear the crying
Or grateful heart songs?
It's a tough one to know
As I ponder my fate
But one thing's for sure,
While I'm still here..
It's never too late

Legendary Panthers life is the best
Without working they just eat and take rest
While I toil real hard for my food
They just roar loudly and get food
How to become a Panther is my quest
Syllable count 10 & 8 checked at ps syllabus counter
In my fantasy zoo of enchantment
Super panther basks in magic moment
exuding scent that creates wonderment
while smiting anxiety’s detriment
toward good health and welfare’s fulfillment.
Roaming to display colorful stature
it boasts elegant heraldic posture
exemplifying courageous gesture
asserting, “Each of us is great creature*;”
let’s show our Sovereign-bestowed feature.”
*1Timothy 4:4 For every creature of God is good...

3rd place, "Panther (Legendary Creature)" Premier Contest
Sponsored by Julia Ward; judged on 10/22/2020.
Once the gentle panther was loved by all
save dragon, the Devil, who hid in fear.
Believed to be good it held all in thrall
likened to the life of Christ held so dear
for rising after three days’ rest to call,
roaring so loud and sweet none failed to hear.
But wild, they follow to a fatal maul
with a sleek panther of face so frightening,
hidden from prey then killed like lightning.
