THE LORD IS MY MUSE*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Lord is my muse; I shall not despair.
He giveth me inspiration; he leadeth me to magical waters.
He restoreth my creativity; he float-eth ideas in my mind, for poetry’s sake.
Although I write in the early morning hours and darkness of night, I will remain tireless; for thou art with me; thy energy and enthusiasm comfort me.
We traverse the night together, endlessly seeking the stars. Thou anointest me with metaphors, rhymes, and alliterations; my imagination runneth over.
Surely effortlessly flowing words shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will write in the house of His spirit forever.
*Note: This poem was written for a 2024 Poetry Soup contest in which entrants were to adapt Psalm 23 for writers. My intent, therefore, was not to plagiarize the Bible.
Premium MemberPraise Be to Dog
My dog is my shadow, we shall now walk
He maketh me to play fetch in green pastures:
he leadeth me to sticks in still waters
He has toreth big holes
and keepeth me from the path with viciousness for his bone's sake
Yea, though we walk through the alley, it's so bad what you left, I
steer clear of people: for thou art with me, my dog and thy path leads right to me
I preparest a fable about you in the presence of mine enemies: to the point they in dread recoil when my pup runneth over
Pure, free goodness, my doggy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in this house with my friend forever
Psalm 23: Modern Version Contest
1] The Lord is my Teacher; I yearn to know.
2] He taketh me to read in libraries serene: He leadeth me to instruction and knowledge.
3] He restores my faith: He takes me from blind valleys to mountains of sight, to find wisdom.
4] As I walk through the darkness of lies, on every side, I Am unafraid: for your light shines before me; Thy sword of truth protects me.
5]He feeds my hunger for knowledge and my thirst for truth in the presence of ignorance: He guards my mind from pestilence: epiphanies overflow.
6] Surely wisdom and understanding will clothe me with inner beauty: and I will strive to learn from my Teacher forever.
Faithless
render to Caesar
what is his,
lost faith hoovers
try to believe
leading a spotless life
bottle half full
don't forget your soul
burning midnight candles
pledge your touch
a chagrin of a chance
leadeth with me
to a challenged place
Troublesome Times
By: Miracle Man
8-2-2023
Today we are living in uncertain times,
and umpteen believe the end is nearing.
Daily we face an assortment of crimes,
and situations are rarely as appearing.
Many turn their heads and refuse to view,
opting to remain on the road most traveled.
Those whom we can trust are becoming few,
they want no part of the road untraveled.
But at each life’s end a judgment awaits,
where each knee bows and tongues confess.
The road we’ve traveled determines our fates,
and it’s then to late our choices to address.
The biggest lie the Devil ever told wasn’t that there was no God,
just that we have plenty of time.
Matthew 7:13-14 KJV
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Can they take back
the rights our parents earned?
Take back the Lynching
and all the houses burned?
Can they move you
to the back of the bus?
And close their doors
to most of us?
Stop us from just saying
it's not fair
When all can see
discrimination there?
All while saying
there is no hate
While one sided judges
decide the debate
Have not traitors, liars
and thieves trickled in?
Where once Providence
and justice judged their sins
Had we reached the pinnacle
of success
before the Devil could stop
our work in progress
"HE LEADETH COUNSELLORS
AWAY SPOILED AND MAKETH
JUDGES FOOLS"
Where once we were in the
right direction, but now they
change the rules.
No need for them to find out
if it's unjust of even cruel
And if you think they love
then you've become a fool
The 2023rd Psalm
By Mark Stucky
“Above the law” is our shepherd; he shall always want.
He maketh us to lie about the election; he leadeth us into deep divisions.
He stealeth our souls; he leadeth us in the paths of insurrection for his name’s sake.
Yea, though we talk through the valley of Twitter and Facebook, we do fear evil, for hate speech and conspiracies they frighten us.
He prepareth the Big Lie before us in the presence of deniers; he appointeth head officials for his term to runneth over.
Surely narcissism and corruption shall follow us all the days of our lives so that we may dwell in a derelict democracy for ever.
Psalm's 23
The Lord is my shepherd, earthly riches I don't need,
He maketh me to lay down in green pastures, my soul he does feed.
 He leadeth me beside the still waters you see,
He restores my soul, and healeth me.
 He leads me in paths of righteousness for His names sake I know,
through the valley's of the shadows of death I go.
 I will fear no evil, for with me He does abide,
His rod and staff they comfort me, a safe place to hide.
 He prepares a table, yes a feast for me,
in the presence of all my enemy.
 He annointest my head with oil, my cup does over flow,
surly goodness and mercy shall follow me wherever I go.
 And I "jessyjames" will dwell in the House of the Lord forever you see,
together forever, with him I will be.
Lingering scenes hide in my subconscious
Vie for favor vicariously precious…
Soul that struggles against human nature
Contends to glow toward spotlight feature…
Hypocrisy keeps lurking amidst pride
Brags along false humility’s long stride…
Grievous regrets expose frustration pain
Leave heart in agony against joy-reign...
Repentance* that I neglect to express well
Faith's spirit basks in God’s miracle-swell.
Road Choice
Miracle Man
6/12/2022
Life has been long and road not straight,
but on its shoulder, one day I rested.
At 28, God caused thoughts to gyrate,
Cancer changed my path when tested.
That day life changed, Cancer was the key,
like a stop sign introduced to my living.
During this dark day Jesus rescued me,
and from my past sins HE was forgiving.
To that point, I’d traveled the widest road,
and earlier miles found life unraveling.
Often I strained beneath my heavy load,
now I bemoan that road I was traveling.
“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Spring heralds wellness of natural glow
Creation zest birthing bud, bulb and bloom
Wondrously greeting with hope-filled hello.
Highlighting beauty of garden tableau
Designed by the Lord Who overcomes gloom
Spring heralds wellness of natural glow.
While welcoming abundant blessings’ flow
Spring birds chirp in glad symphony costume
Wondrously greeting with hope-filled hello.
Cascading crystals conquer crisis’ woe
As abundant harvests waft blessings boom
Spring heralds wellness of natural glow.
Flower terraces in radiant show
Bring cheer midst daffodils and lilacs’ zoom
Wondrously greeting with hope-filled hello.
Enthralled by grace-delights hearts can’t outgrow
Grateful that God restores* to vanquish doom
Spring heralds wellness of natural glow
Wondrously greeting with hope-filled hello.
(a New Year's Affirmation)
I know not where
the morning light leadeth me,
nor who, as I led, went before
I know not if a sea, a woodland,
or a mountain ahead to climb –
and, thus, my way to explore
For what I may see, may hear,
God, alone, knows true vision,
His worlds of sound, and where
our ultimate journeys are bound
As I must faithfully seek –
if to redeem my soul; for this
earth its Lost and Found....
