"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em."
— Twelfth Night, Act II, Scene V
Some are born to crowns and gold,
With power strong and wealth untold.
Some will climb, with sweat and pain,
To carve their names and stake their claim.
And then there’s me—a simple bloke,
Who’d rather nap than wear a cloak.
Greatness came, it knocked, it screamed,
I locked the door—it must have dreamed.
For who would trade a peaceful life,
For throne-room squabbles, royal strife?
Give me books, a pint, some cheese—
Let others rule, I’ll take my ease.
So take your greatness, shove it far,
I’d rather be right where I are.
My heart and mind don't align
I yearn for dreams to yield but vegetate
Putting off things for the very next day
My willpower is always at its lowest
Laziness floods my habits and goals
Until I drown in unsuccess.
The bed, so invitingly soft
It tempts me into a languid slumber
While a half-finished coffee mug
Sits cold on my window sill
My mobile phone, a dangerous distraction
As I scroll hours through social media when awake
Squandering my precious time away
My mind keeps dwelling on the past
Inundating memories of joy, sorrow and regrets
Serving no purpose
Then I slid into an eternity of pleasant thoughts
Of how to spend the next day of my life.
Laziness
(hand up or hand out)
Miracle Man
11/1/2024
Those always bathing in entitlements pool,
will awake each morning, lazy, and unclean.
Which brings back thoughts of older times and lye soap,
Neither is conducive to a good lather.
A lazy man sings
Of how much work his desk brings,
But too lazy is he
To do anything but sleep.
A lazy man gives
So many explanations, yet still
Nothing, nothing but sleep.
A lazy man's wish
Is to one day be rich
But not a day does he
Sow, so he can reap.
Laziness Is A Choice
Miracle Man
(from my archives)
Many are content to go through life hitching rides,
but I prefer to work and drive a car;
Those going through life constantly seeking a handout
Will always have their hand out,
and just enough in it to keep their gut from growling.
I feel sad crying but to lazy to wipe my tear
I am scared though I feel it is to much of a bother
I feel mad however I am exhausted to show it further
I am irritated even so feel that it takes up to much energy to muster
I feel hopeful yet waiting for it to crushing me to shatter
Never remain lazy and lose the chance
Be brisk and active to acquire success
When you just relax without any efforts
Your golden dream cannot be realized
If you remain passive with no dreams
You may come out as an also-ran man
Instead, if you move Heaven and Earth
Success will come to you by searching
Never limit your genius by surrendering
Think high and confidently enter the deal
Great rewards, you will reap definitely
Narrow not your mind by allowing fear
You win by taking steps with deep faith
Your success lies in your own hands
At times you may be standing on it
Due to its nearness, you may overlook
Giving up is an easy job that can be done
To you, now I ask, What is the use of that?
Just saying "no" and then staying damn idle
Will it bring any growth or mirth or glory?
My dear soul, take my word and think
Let us not rust by taking indefinite rest
Let us use all our faculties well to excel
Contributing usefully for World's welfare.
Once laziness occupies one's mind
Definitely, only defeats, one will find
Lethargic attitude causes failure only
That is the reason for losses mainly
Always be on the look out for achieving
A wise plan, let your mind be weaving
Then only life will have a deep thrill
As you must utilize your great skill
Due to constant usage of your talent
Something fine, you can usefully invent
This may give you name and fame
As you play skillfully this life-game
By not being brisk and actively agile
You travel on the wrong road and fail
Only an honest attempt brings glory
And as a result, you create a history
Practice polishes your ability greatly
And so you execute your act neatly
So better to employ your acumen
To become the best man or woman
In the presence of precious optimism
And due to deploying of fine dynamism
We benefit the World and come up
We make all others excellently develop.
If laziness gets a fair chance
One can never at all advance
If health must be kept intact
Exercise must be the act
Prayer is the curing pill
Peace in mind it will fill
When a prayer is made
True bliss will pervade
If prayer is resorted to
The best God will do
When duty is pending
Upon you it is depending
First complete it soon
Make it a full Moon
Duty that fetches riches
Will surely remove hitches
If a work is available
Surely life is bailable
Work is indeed great worship
Creating with God a relationship
Always enjoy doing sacred duty
It connects you with holy Divinity.
Once upon a time but not so long ago,
A man sat by a pond dangling his big toe.
A rather large fish enjoying his daily swim,
Noticed the mans big toe that kept enticing him.
The man saw the fish as he sauntered by,
He wanted that tasty fish and he must fry.
His pole already baited was lying by his foot,
When he picked it up it landed in the brook.
The fish all laughed at him when his worm escaped,
There would be no dinner on the poor mans plate.
The moral of this story goes something like this..
If your efforts are lazy you'll never achieve a thing,
Like trying to lace your shoes without shoestrings.
Submission to the sleeping lion
Seeing his shadow as a place to lie in
The darkness of eternal obscurity and sin
Not unveiling our bright star clothed in skin
I
Who made the roach and porcupine?
Who made the giraffe and sloth?
Who made mosquito, bug, kine?
II
I might see uses in cattle and kine
Because I need to feed, wine and dine
Will they let me eat bear & porcupine?
III
Some creatures remind us, not about us
The universe feels itself, expresses
And experiences being great or minuscule
IV
If you meet maidens U like, "a beauty"
Don't discriminate if others are plain
Creator who made "mistakes" made me
friendly sun resting
in the winter morning rain
laziness, ails me !
There are no problems in the world
that I can try to solve.
When waiting on my hands and knees
for government to resolve.
That I am waiting for my death
in rights that will dissolve
And paying for my ignorance
in lives that have absolve
Their playing with their clocks again
Their playing with their flags
Their saying your mortality
has no more time than lags
Their offering up your screen savers
and offering up your lives
Their praying for your wallpaper
in all the time that thrives
They'll send you little icons
They'll send you your emoji's
You'll wonder if you're still ideal
and not just one more boggie
