Jack Frost is coming
All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. - J. R. R. Tolkien
Wintry frosts silence the starving night skies,
Aloof as the freezing stars, glistening
In biting waves from distant sun’s disguise,
Gentle ramblings, deer and hare listening…
Icy mornings, bitter from frigid chill,
Aching breathes remember last spring’s fervor,
When swift winds would leave hushed trails so still,
Stirring hearts to hear the silent observer.
December winds, swift as the trembling snows,
Gusts so alive they seem to dance a waltz,
Whisper to the soul, blessing where she goes,
Gentle as the light so eager, but false…
Since winter’s smile seems to tell us we’ve lost,
Feelings flow despite the words of jack frost.

I awoke this morning to Jack's winter show.
The icy winds whirled across the horizon with glee.
As this prankster froze all the rain into snow,
The bright sunlight glistens from the tops of the trees.
It shimmered and pranced for all the world to see.
The magical Jack Frost made his entrance once more.
He's the spirit of winter and has the heart of a juvenile.
A mischievous old elf, impish to the core.
A masterful sculptor, poetic in style.
He will create a winter scene you can see for miles.

Jack Frost was on vacation, so he sent his daughter.
She gave the trees an extra sparkle; they looked sugary.
The icicles were beyond pretty; she is a girly girl.
Wanting to encourage her, he said nothing.
Also recognizing he might want to retire someday.
The trees are so sparkly! His mother said; it is a new world.
I might possibly pass the baton, he thought.
Realizing the joy this beautifulness was bringing to human
swirls of starry flakes
icy fingers etch patterns
Jack Frost visited.

How the igloo spectators did laugh
as I spun like some frozen giraffe
black ice caught me napping
jack frost “boo-boo” snapping
this whirligig skater a fly-half!

NB Jack Frost snapping as in taking a photograph when I cut a funny figure while trying to skate.
Fly-half in comic sense. Slipping and falling in comic rugby player mode
Whirligig comic weather-vane
He came silently upon late fall's
Northerly air, chilled the mowed grass
Without even a slight care
Turned the season to white
Within a few hours
One long dark night
Jack Frost killed
Flowers
And ~
Bees
Suffered.
Blue birds gone
Hummers have flown
Butterflies unseen
Disappeared from the scene
Then came back again to play
Jack Frost stopped mourning dove's coo
A temperamental how you do

In the bitter cold I can see my breath,
As the snowflakes cool my hot cheeks,
Gently settling in my clothes and hair.
I am headed to the car with a cake.
There'll be a festive party tonight!
My boots glide into the powdery fluff;
And I wonder if it'll ever stop snowing!
The evening sun is setting so very red;
And I can hear the whistle of a bird.
The night will be filled with laughter;
And the evening has scarcely begun.
A white rabbit bounds past the trees;
In a flurry of movement and snow spray.
Drifts now seem to cover all the world.
Though I admired the scene only a moment,
My chocolate cake has been frosted, too!
Jack Frost has come for his visit,
And it looks like he's going to stay.
He's brought snow and ice, cold cuts like a knife.
It's awhile before he goes away.
He's written his name on the fence posts.
It glistens wherever you look,
My nose and eye lashes, on fence gates and latches,
And he's made icy slush of the brook.
Not everyone cares much for Winter.
They really don't like being cold,
But I like the season, it gives me a reason,
To dress up in my new winter clothes.
I have fancy hats, scarves and mitts,
A new coat and boots that won't quit,
For walks in the snow or wherever I go,
For cold weather I must say I'm fit.
It's going to be cold for awhile now,
So I'll get out in the snow and I'll play.
I miss the warm sun but I still can have fun.
I'll just make the most of the day.

winter has arrived

must be careful when walking...

first glimpse of snowfall
warning hands to use mittens
feet to dance quickly
Slowly winter creeps along into our veins
The cold curse of England
Testing your fragile bones
Teasing your icy cold ears
Freezing your nose
Jack Frost is coming closer
The Holly King still in its Glory
The sun all but gone
Just a dismal rise
A fast Set
Daylight Hours Stolen
Turning back Time
An hour here
Forward there
Tingling Skin
Hard Jawline
Fur and Fleece
Come out to play
Snow ahead
Snow men
Into Bed
Quick Jack Frost is Here
When my life begins so way up high
And I float to you from the sky,
How can you tell it's really me
For only flakes of snow you see.
But after all has been turned white
And everywhere's a beautiful sight,
You slowly place the flakes together
Caring little of the bitter weather.
Until I'm built and all complete
From big top hat to snowy feet,
When life with you is such fun
Provided I don't see the sun.
But finally when winter's through
And the sun turns the day sky blue,
You'll watch me slowly melt away
Until no longer we can play.
Still please don't shed a tear for me
For I'll come back again you'll see,
And if Jack Frost comes with me too
I'll have more time to play with you.
Alive
watching the dew
steam in the morning
sun
that hoary old frost
has met his match
scorched by the ice
the plants
warmed by the sun
bounce back
and rise.
JACK FROST
Jolly jubilant Jack Frost jogs and jumps on frost
Able to bring bone-chilled snow fall at any cost.
Crystals and crisps of thin snowflakes fly beyond grip.
Knife of ice hits heart of winter piercing too deep.
Fantastic ice- skating slides smooth on snowy track
Ruthless hard frost bite attacks helpless jumping Jack.
On Ocean, open - hidden ice bergs threaten ship
Shivering cold breeze cannot be controlled at all.
Terrible frosty winter by jocund Jack to call..
