Holding On

I’m holding on really tight,
An avalanche gives no warning
Nor does a sinkhole.
The deer and the hunter 
Have opposing objectives,

You’d think they would compromise.
I wake some nights holding my pillow so tight
It looks at me asking what’s wrong.
When I was young I was sure of tomorrow—
The moon secured the night; the sun lit the day.

Now I

You Gave Me Your Heart And I Gave You Mine

You gave me your heart and I gave you mine—
not in silence, but in the rustle of stars,
in the breath between waves.

Two birds exchanged their skies,
two rivers poured into one basin.
There was no contract,
no promise carved in stone—
only the trembling of hands
and the slow unfolding of trust.

We made a country from whispers,
a home of glances

Holding On To Silence

I’ve been Holding on to silence 

All the times that you have hurt me 
All the times you told me lies 
Made me feel like I was drowning 
In the tears of all my cries 

I don’t know if I have helped you 
Or been part of your demise 
Was I right or was I

Holding On

I have a wife, a son and two granddaughters,
I have nightmares.
A 'having' cannot be held onto,
a Keep, a Fast, a Hold, all are synonyms
for a fortress....
my aspirations crumble like ancient walls.

When I pluck a pretty wildflower
from a verdant meadow -
a momentary kiss of joy,
an enlightening ray of sun....
then cometh the regret, the withering,
a racing time

The anatomy of holding on

Inside, there’s a small museum where I keep  
the pieces I couldn’t let go of:  
the first laugh, a heartbeat that wasn’t mine,  
the warmth that made me think I was whole.  
Each memory cataloged by touch and scent,  
stitched together with words I never spoke.

I’ve tried to map it

Holding on to Love

Holding on to me too tightly
Having you cling to me closely
Helping you not to tightly squeeze
Hoping you would let me breathe.

Holding on

a bluebird dives
graceful sullen and dramatic
as if performing its last swan song
then in late afternoon gone 

the sun in backdrop
tickles wispy clouds
speechless i inhale the magic
of an exquisite day of fall
wishing it would never end

Still Holding On

Dismantled and fractured it seems

Life pushes us all to extremes.

We seek to perform

And weather our storm-

Try hard to support all our dreams.

The Cost of Holding On

Don’t be the first to reach out this time.
Don’t stop them from falling on their own knife.

No more chasing shadows, no more pleas.
Let the distance grow, and just breathe.

Echoes of love feel like a ghost,
But holding on tight may cost me the most.

Stand still in my space, let the world spin,
Trust that in time, they’ll

There are times in life where you may think life is not fair just because to you things are not working out the way you want them to. During that time you may not be able to fully understand the process as the pieces of your journey is being connected, but I say to you,

Holding on to Love

Some say it’s a Blessing and a miracle 
from above,
When strangers meet and fall in love,
A beginning of adventures full of exciting 
times, surprises, and thrills all await.
From every outing or date, something 
special is remembered and replayed,
The mind is easily distracted and always
in a dreamy state.

Every thought, positively sweet, eagerly 
conveyed without being delayed,

Holding on to a thread

And just like me
It’ll try its best

To keep you warm and comfortable
Through pressure and rest

It loves to be in a pair
But it can stand on its own

When one gets lost or goes missing
The other will likely be forever alone

If it gets used a lot
It will wear out

It’ll be tossed away
And soon forgotten about

But when things

Holding On

I lay awake in the darkness,
My body so still but my mind racing till I get ill,
I ask myself
Who am I ? A complete lie?
My heart racing so fast,
My thoughts completely lost,
But here I am ,
Holding myself together,
But anytime now ,I feel it’s all going to flow out like a river.

To Drink

I drink and drink
One may call it a bender

I drink and drink
Yet never forfeit

I drink and drink 
But only when there's a true call for it

Oh what oh what would be a true call they cry
Why, not a truer call than death do I reply.

I drink and drink
Yet they do not revive

I drink and drink

I'M Still Holding On To the Past

when I wear your blouse
feels like a hug from heaven ~
I’m missing you mum
