9/11

America is a place we would all love to go,
But on September 11th is was bombed by people we didn't know.
It may have been an ordinary Tuesday
People walking here and there
But on that dreadful day
People's lives were blown away.
Firemen, police and paramedics lost their lives
Just trying to do their job to survive.
People didn't know if their loved ones
We're alive or dead
Is this how the world should be?
Is this how the world will end?
People were still searching for survivors
Searching the whole town through
But many of us already know
Survivors were just a few.
The few who survived the bombing
The few who can tell the trauma to the end.
The dead were close family
Family as well as friends.
So let's put our hands together
And together we will pray
That nothing like this
Will never happen again.
So let us bless those who lost their lives
And give peace to those who survived.

Ghosts of Havana: A Letter from the Other Side

I speak now, not with breath,
But through the bones of history,
Through palms that never bore fruit
Because your embargo starved the soil.

You feared not our weapons—
We had none to match your bombs.
You feared our ideas,
Because they burned too brightly in the dark.

Sixty-two winters and summers,
My people have walked in chains—
Not of iron,
But of isolation, hunger, and propaganda.

Is it a crime to dream in red?
Is dignity a sin,
When worn by brown hands
On a small island that refused to kneel?

You said it was freedom—
Yet you crushed us under boots
Stamped democracy,
Laced with hypocrisy.

Your friends—your “allies”—watched.
Some nodded.
Some traded,
And many sold their silence for your gold.

Fidel is gone,
But the embargo remains—
Like a ghost that haunts both jailer and prisoner,
A curse passed down by cold-hearted kings.

America, when the axis shifts,
And the sun of the global south rises—
What will your monuments say then?
What flag will you wave when truth takes the throne?

History is a patient god.
It watches.
It remembers.
And when it judges—
It does not ask permission.

There Ain't no cure for hate

There ain't no cure for hate
My friends
Why do you hate my guts so much
What have I done to you
To be mistreat by you friends
I never mistreat you on friends
I have lots of respect for you friends
I never mistreated you once in my life

Premium MemberThe Soul of a Tyrant

A tyrant, though he’s feared, he also fears:
A symmetry of horror unites them all.
Unleashed, a dragon that forever nears,
And he, as all the rest, it soon may maul.
A tyrant rides a tiger, yet he knows
It is not love that keeps him in that place;
And that which comes, it just as swiftly goes;
The claws of retribution can he face.
A tyrant may have had a better course
In selling shirts upon a dusty street;
Immersed in simple love, and not in force,
With friends around him, children at his feet.
The vacant glamor of a wretched life,
Forever fearing for a sudden knife.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 on Love

Love is patient love is kind
This comes from the One who is divine!
love does not envy and never boast.
That’s only pride and to God it’s gross!
It is not arrogant or nor is it rude.
Christians like that have the wrong attitude.
It does not insist on having its own way.
Those pushy people will account some day.
It is not irritable nor does it resent.
Christians like that should quickly repent.
It does not rejoice when others are wronged.
Among God’s children it don’t belong.
However it rejoices in the truth.
Teach this Christians to your youth.
Love bears, believes, hopes, and endures everything.
This is the word of our King of kings!
Finally He says Love never ends.
Ask God to do this in and through you my friends!
The lack of love can be seen all around.
In every city country and town.
Praying to our God is the first place to start.
Asking Him to plant seed in every human heart.

I Don't Understand

I don't understand it
And I never understood it

How vehement disdain can beat in the chest
And how vitriol can dance in the mind with unrest

The cold, blank stares that quickly turn to a fake smile when I turn and our eyes meet
Too late, that crooked smile can't disguise the dark, desolate eyes that bitterly speak

Yes. They speak to me in ways I can no longer ignore
Their frigidity penetrates my warm heart; my heart feels, so it knows how they abhor

Why? But how could this be the reality?
When I thought we were loving friends and family

Fantasy, what a painful fantasy to live
And all because love is what I wanted to receive and give

I never understood it
And never will I understand it

Heart HEAD

She hurt me
So don’t try to convince me that
She was a genuine friend
Because at the end of the day
my heart twists in anguish
And I’m not going to sugar coat it,
I’m the one that cut her off
I have to remind myself,
No one can be trusted
And nothing you say will make me believe
Everyone deserves a second chance
Because no matter what
People will always let me down
And I'm in no position to believe that
if I extend my trust it won’t be broken
Because whenever I want to make friends I think
Is friendship even worth it?

(Now read it backwards)

Premium MemberI Am A Survivor

Thirty years ago, my life fell apart/
I became fallen and forgotten/
All my friends abandoned me/
For years, those tears poured/
All those tears formed an ocean/
For a crime I never committed/
For all I lost in life/
My religion is different/
I face religious hatred for years/
My faith is unwavering/
My heart is unwavering/
I face so much hate in my life/
I done nothing wrong to justify/
The ostrasim, treated like garbage/
People put on a mask to play games/
They play with my heart, my feelings/
They can't be themselves/
They have to judge, they have to hate/
What happened to my life/
Is unheard of/
But understand this.../
I know my worth and.../
I am a survivor/
I will not give up/
I will keep surviving/
Because, I am strong/
And I am a strong survivor/

Originally published in Out On a Limb, an Anthology for Friends June 2020

You hate me for my color.
You hate me for our differences.
You hate me for my successes.

You call me names.
You call me useless.
You call me an outsider.

You marked me as invisible.
You made me your scapegoat.
You expressed your hatred, and
Excluded me from your world,
Allowing you to define
Who was welcome into your group.

Do you feel united?
Are you at peace?
That is, until the next tension rises and
A new scapegoat needs to be found.

Premium MemberLabour of Hate

Labour of hate

Turn on the heating
It’s getting cold
Why do we shiver?
Just because we’re old
It’s Kier’s labour, who wants us all to die
Said he liked pensioners just another lie
Another lie

Angels are calling
Is this the end
We are elderly
No family or friends
Can’t pay for heating or any of our bills
While Rayner’s cheating, fingering the tills
In the tills.

Reeves bills are paid for
But she’s a millionaire
Rayner is raving
She doesn’t care
Release the sausages, where is his brain
Paying a photographer, Rayner’s so vain
Is so vain

Take all our money
With inheritance tax
Charlie didn’t pay his
He can now relax
Rich becoming richer, Starmer leads the pack
Free clothes and glasses stabbed us in the back
In the back.

Reverse Psychology

When strangers turn to friends in sudden gleam,
Their smiles are sweet, but truth lies far below.
The warmth you feel is but a fleeting beam,
For time reveals the faces you don't know.

When friends, once close, now wear the mask of frost,
Their laughter echoes hollow, empty sound.
In tangled webs of love and hate, you're lost,
A simple word can flip the world around.

The heart's a fickle beast, it loves to play,
With twisted games that lead to paths unknown.
What once was gold now tarnished, turns to gray,
The seeds of doubt within your mind are sown.

Beware the dance of truth and lies they weave,
For nothing’s ever quite as you believe

Premium MemberJoy and the Goy and Israel

the love and reverence
is what I noticed first
a motherland a homeland
but then I saw the curse

a beautiful Israeli girl
too jewish shunned like me
but a goy in the kitchen
still instant friends were we

fast forward to this present day
with Gaza razed a perilous fate
towards its people a palpable hate
to mind my jewish summer camp stay

how at an early age I could plainly name
both belonging and pack mentality
how hate and bigotry will stake their claim
when so by example one is taught to be

For Simcha,
never forgotten ~x

Premium MemberTalkin' the Night Away, Back in College in the 70's

I remember back in the day
     talking the night away
with all of my Jewish friends
Could Hitler’s Germany ever happen again?

‘Never ever,' Al said, 'Naziism is doornail dead’
‘Certainly not in America,’ added Ned
‘For here we have a strong democracy
checks and balances to keep us free…’

I finally spoke up, staying ‘calm and cool’
‘America is but a country of ex-Europeans, you mules...'
Though my point was well-taken, 50 years later I’m shaken
~ my 'gotcha prophecy' proven tragically true

I HATE YOU

You made cry,
You made me curse the day I was born,
You made me ask God to put my life at halt,
You made reduction of my days on earth,
Because of the gloomy face,
I hold all the time
I Hate You.

I don’t wish you any good,
I don’t even think you deserve anything good,
I don’t with death,
But I wish you hell,
I Hate you to the extent of hating your friends too.

There is no word of forgiveness,
You can tell me to change my attitude,
I just wish I never see you again,
how I wish you hide whenever you see me.

My Hatred for you,
Is equivalent to that of Eve to the snake,
You didn’t look at my ambitions,
You looked at my sorrows and failures.
I really hate you.
