Talkin' the Night Away, Back in College in the 70's

I remember back in the day talking the night away with all of my Jewish friends Could Hitler’s Germany ever happen again? ‘Never ever,' Al said, 'Naziism is doornail dead’ ‘Certainly not in America,’ added Ned ‘For here we have a strong democracy checks and balances to keep us free…’ I finally spoke up, staying ‘calm and cool’ ‘America is but a country of ex-Europeans, you mules...' Though my point was well-taken, 50 years later I’m shaken ~ my 'gotcha prophecy' proven tragically true

In recent times we have seen many things we never expected could happen. …and we’ve watched the “evil” nazis in many movies, and yet like they say, it only takes the change of one generation.

Israel has been under constant attack well before Oct, 7th. With the incredibly small number of Jews in the world who’s gonna say anything..I think Americans need to be tied to chairs and to watch what happened on October 7th. Americans do not know that we are considered thsnake and Israel the little snake..the cover is world Peace. Those at Cornell are paid supporters of Soros. You know where the answers are and you need to share them in poetry here. Pangie xx

poignant poem, dear Gershon. I had a somewhat similar experience during a discussion in one of my college German classes, one that focused on the history of Germany. With what was happening in the 70s I felt very strongly that our country could devolve...and it has. Horrifically surreal!
