Half The Battle Poems | Examples

Light In Darkness

We court darkness to see the light
& every room
has a bit of both
We're the sum of wombs in many
ways giving birth to things
in route to growth
Every little step we take is toward
a cliff & one day
we'll all exceed the edge
The roads we take are hit or miss
& every single path
has a bit of dread
Tread lightly in a dark world for
heavy steps bring
wear afoot
We wear each other's skin like we're
all the same so eventually
shoes fit the other foot
We couldn't see a thing inside the
womb but still looked
forward to a brighter life
The divine darkness in which we're
groomed only gives
birth to growing light
Don't fight the darkness inside of
you but see the light
within the shadows
I feel all the struggles the same
as you but the duality
is half the battle

Wisdom Of Fishing

Knowing where to fish
Is always half the battle
No matter what you use.

Fishing at night, used flashlight
And a net, they'd swim up
To the light and just net them.

Only take what you can eat
And leave the rest for other people
And future generations.

A Quadrilateral Conception

Christians who follow the quadrilateral,
Have won half the battle.

Always look to scripture,
To focus on the big picture.

God’s word is final,
Knowing this truth is vital.

A rendition of your own Christian traditions,
Can cause possible conflictions.

Christmas presents and tree,
What do they represent to me?

Easter bunny and hide and seek,
Not the true meaning of which we speak.

You need the Holy Spirit to understand,
He is available at your command.

You will know when you hear Him,
You will feel it from your heart within.

A still small voice,
When you hear it you can rejoice.

Your journey has begun,
There is much work to be done.

With your faith and God’s grace,
Your actions will Shine to the human race.

You have seen God’s hand in your life,
Now tell others how it applied.

Premium Member An Unbreakable Bond

On this earth, and all the space beyond,
with our God, we should have an unbreakable bond.
For everyone, it is easily understood
that we should always strive to do good.
If good work is done,
then half the battle is won.
Keep our love close to heart
and never let it fall apart.

Walking Through Life

So often we are just walking through the motions,
Like our daily grind without emotion

Or thought actually,
What a pity

You should start a day with good intent,
To be aware and cognizant

Of the beauty of life, so be it a struggle,
To prove to the world your metal

To stand up for what you believe,
And to acknowledge what you need

That goal in mind,
Each day you refine

What can you do,
To bring its success to you

You can’t be complacent,
And expect achievements

You gotta be aware,
Maybe even say a prayer

To do more than shuffle out of bed,
With only thoughts of coffee in your head

You have to have the desire,
To motivate you as required

Believing is half the battle,
Your effort the balance to earn your chattel

Of those dreams you hold inside,
Their success your pride

And happiness too,
So what will you do

Winning

Make it through make it true
Lay it bare if you dare
Banish doubt make it count
Look around you’ve made it there
Shout it far show your scars
Fill the day with twenty-four hours
This is it what we’ve got
Looks like but it’s ours
You see this life filled with strife
So much hurt so much pain
Now you win now you lose
One man’s loss another’s gain
It wasn’t meant to be pretty
Empty towns dirty cities
People all around have issues
Insecure,lost and misused
You can choose to stay and fight
Assert yourself claim your rights
Or decide to turn away
Make your mark another day
Showing up is half the battle
Knocked down back in the saddle
It’s not the wins and the losses
It’s the learning it’s a process
At the end of the day
Stop and do the math
Those who've made hay
Don’t have to look back.

Premium Member Journey Has Begun

Life is not about being perfect, as there is no end to it,
Yes I can just be human, and half the battle is won.
I am surrounded by shadows of people, good and bad,
Yes I can make my choices, and will have regrets none.

If I try and don’t succeed, I won’t quit and be quiet,
Yes I shall work harder, until the job is done.
The path of life is tough, with no strings of velvet,
Yes I shall bear the odds, clouds can’t swallow the sun.

There are times when I get hurt, and I am in silent tears,
Yes I will save my heart from the unwanted one.
Let not my foes conquer my inner soul and win,
Yes I will change myself, and the journey has begun…

Premium Member Three Cheers For P-Soup

My friends on P-Soup are loyal and true

Every morning I rush to my computer

To read all their happy upbeat comments

And suddenly the sun breaks through the clouds

At times, I must admit I have thought of leaving

When everyday trials cloud my vision

But then I quickly come to my senses

I would certainly have withdrawal symptoms

Similar to those folks abstaining from alcohol

I would have to join “Poets Anonymous” for help

To get me through the difficult and trying times

Without the aid of friends and family

I'd be a broken man aimlessly wandering the streets

As I sit here writing, I am convinced

This will never ever come to pass

Alright, I'll admit it... I'm obsessed

There! I feel much better now

Admitting I have a problem is half the battle

So it seems I'll be here for the foreseeable future

Thank you all my dear friends

And three cheers for P-Soup!

Sayings From Long Ago

“A good beginning is half the battle”
                     and
      “All’s well that ends well”
      Are sayings from long ago.

The part that is sandwiched
       in between is why
I’m not sure if this is so.

Fortune Cookie

Expectations are like dolphins
Singing gleefully through the waves.
Life's lottery calls your number
As you wait there by the bay.
Purple sunset's majesty
Speaks of a celebration soon to come.
Believing's half the battle
When the paper says you've won.

Trying Is Half the Battle

Everybody wants to go to heaven .
 But nobody wants to die.
well who ever told you you"ld live forever
 just told you another lie.
yea we live we laugh we love we even take time to cry.
but that all seemd to fade away as time passes us by.
That is why we search for an answer with our eyes towards the sky.
For when we reach the pearly gates we wont be denied

Alive Still Dead

Killed still, alive still dead
spilled on her heart , skilled with the passion i pour there
I have a glass of her pain and it consumed me
True, the truth hurts
it will do more than hurt, sure it will
hunted and chased down
apprehended, caught, Im lost now
I fall< I rise up
I live for the satisfaction it gives her
half the battle aint even faught yet
half my heart still i breate air
all my love im willing,
doubted it not even for a second
planted and watched hope grow
watched and never looked away from the first day
and from her first words
I deserved them
I am a success when i search you\
a failure when i give up
a monster when i get mad
the devil when you want him
a mind of a wise man when you try me
Im a fool just to blind them
a loud mouth to the be the sound of
a leader so they will surround me
a ninja when i get them all in then
a major part of the whole scheme of
The things i dream of
the life i want back
