Best Half The Battle Poems

Premium Member Journey Has Begun

Life is not about being perfect, as there is no end to it,
Yes I can just be human, and half the battle is won.
I am surrounded by shadows of people, good and bad,
Yes I can make my choices, and will have regrets none.

If I try and don’t succeed, I won’t quit and be quiet,
Yes I shall work harder, until the job is done.
The path of life is tough, with no strings of velvet,
Yes I shall bear the odds, clouds can’t swallow the sun.

There are times when I get hurt, and I am in silent tears,
Yes I will save my heart from the unwanted one.
Let not my foes conquer my inner soul and win,
Yes I will change myself, and the journey has begun…

Bovine Ailments

Bovine ailments make cows sad
Diseases I have never had
Dreams that cannot be fulfilled
Stomachs, four, happiness, nil

Soured milk from rotting udders
Poorly calfs with fretting mothers
Coughing, wheezing as they plod
Where many a gangrenous hoof has trod

In pastures green you ruminate
Lamenting your uneven gait
Too weak to really go the distance
Requiring veterinary assistance

Perpetual clouds in bovine skies
Leave salty tears in Freisians’ eyes
Time may heal, but it can’t take back
The worms in your digestive tract

Killing time is half the battle
For disease inflicted cattle
In the wake of wooden tongue
And lumpy jaw, you stand undone

Bovine ailments make cows die
In peace at last, their carcasses lie
Let fate release its tedious vultures
To feast on victims of agriculture

From parasitic infection released
Now ambling in joy and peace
On to cow heaven, single file
Softly mooing, breaking a smile

My Body is literally Scared Up.
My Heart Is Torn
My Mind Screwed Up
I'm Sick To My Stomach, but I Can't Throw Up.
Unsatisfied by my performance in Life
Dreaming about A Rope To End a Life
Feeling Unloved from the ones that Raised Me.
Tears at Night Soaks Down To the Bed Springs
Look Up to My Big Brother; he is living a successful life.
Look at me; my heart is dying to live right.
I grew up in the slums Been Called Stupid and Dumb.
Soon Got The Diploma So Half The Battle is Won
My Eyes are Open Wide To see more Tears and Lies.
Colored Crack and Dope fiends These Are The Days Of Our Lives.
Mr. Colored Man Dare To Be Different
It's Time for a Change Say, Mr. President
A Colored Man Full of Emotion but Not Easily Broken, but can be Broken by a Woman Who says She loves Him Then Turns To another Man and Gives Her Love to Him
Through The Shakes, Turbulence, and Aftershocks Still, I Stand A Colored Man.

Relationship Math

They say one is the loneliest number,
And two heads are better than one.
But I say -1 is worse,
Because then you know what’s missing.
They say it is better to have loved and lost,
Then to never have loved at all
But they also say ignorance is bliss,
And knowing is half the battle
[Go Joe!]
The hell that is loss,
Is greater than lonely.
So I say screw them/they.
Learn to love yourself-
The only one who will be there for life…
Without you +1 or -1 doesn’t matter…
(It all averages out in the end…)

Knowing Is Half the Battle

to be or not to be is that really what we want to know
when before us lies such a great lesson.
but who will ever realize what it may bestow
if we dont start out by asking questions.

you might not find all the answers you seek
but at least you can be on the right track
curiousity is what seperates the strong from the weak
and the unwilling seems to get left back

we tend to cling to our beleifs wheather right or wrong
continuing to step out on faith
we feel the only way we can carry on
is by doing whatever it may take

so we try hard to bridge the gap between imagination and revelation
when we think all else is lost.
avoiding all life's greatest temptations
by knowing you end up paying the cost.

trying eagerly to escape the lies
for the human mind is so collective
for if we could take one look at us thru others eyes
we'll see life in a different perspective

Trying Is Half the Battle

Everybody wants to go to heaven .
 But nobody wants to die.
well who ever told you you"ld live forever
 just told you another lie.
yea we live we laugh we love we even take time to cry.
but that all seemd to fade away as time passes us by.
That is why we search for an answer with our eyes towards the sky.
For when we reach the pearly gates we wont be denied

A Familiar Inner Thought In Life Haiku

half the battle won
many prayers for more strength
long road still ahead

Sayings From Long Ago

“A good beginning is half the battle”
                     and
      “All’s well that ends well”
      Are sayings from long ago.

The part that is sandwiched
       in between is why
I’m not sure if this is so.

Self Confidence Will Allow Us

Self confidence will allow us

Written By Dean Masciarelli

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Self confidence will allow us

To conquer our fears

And our limitations

So that we no longer have
to be
a victim of our own failures

Because we can climb above
and over all the hurdles
that are standing in front of us

And we can change our
failures and turn them
into accomplishments

Just by changing
our attitudes

And that’s just half the battle

The rest is fairly simple

Because each and everyone of us
are blessed with
our own unique gifts and talents

We just need to learn
how to bring
them to the surface

So that we may continue
to hold our heads up high

No matter what we may face

Because this will give us
the opportunity
to believe in ourselves

So that we may acquire
the inner
strength that is within us

And the self confidence

To conquer and defeat
our failures
and our own weaknesses

And the obstacles that we face
and the I cant do this attitudes
that lie underneath the surface

Because we are all
programed for success

Self confidence will allow us

To conquer our fears

And our limitations

So that we no longer have
to be
a victim of our own failures

Don'T Drop the Soap Jimmy Slamming the Pathetic Whorelock Round Four

We can go blow-for-blow, toe-to-toe, or flow-for-flow,
As the troop from the soup sit back and enjoy the show.
I am merciless, like the SAMURAI with the AFRO,
Since I slice and dice my competition where ever I go!

After blessing your poor little soul, like the Pope,
I would have to remind you not to drop the soap!

I will always draw first blood, just like RAMBO!
You could never keep up, because your pen moves too slow.
I am the best at this game, with an aim like a pro!
Get your ducks in a row, or get shot like a crow!

Before you and your cell mate decide to elope,
I would have to remind you not to drop the soap!

You claim to be the great, great grandson of Edgar Allan Poe?!
Get real Bro! More like a descendant of Larry, Curly, or Moe!
This group, at the soup, got duped by the status quo,
But like G.I.Joe, half the battle...I know!

Because each one of your "slams" make you look like a dope,
I would have to remind you not to drop the soap!

I'll weed you out with a hoe to give you more time to grow,
Because in the garden of life, you reap what you sow!
Sooner or later, you will pay the price that you owe,
Though it might take time for you to earn that much dough!

Because the little wizard has been left without hope,
I would have to remind you not to drop the soap!

Instead of coming back to attack, you should just lay low.
I shine all the time, but you can barely even glow.
So, here is some friendly advice from your poetic foe.....
The next time you get challenged, you should just say NO!

So, while laughing at your inability to cope,
I would have to remind you not to drop the soap!

Fortune Cookie

Expectations are like dolphins
Singing gleefully through the waves.
Life's lottery calls your number
As you wait there by the bay.
Purple sunset's majesty
Speaks of a celebration soon to come.
Believing's half the battle
When the paper says you've won.

Alive Still Dead

Killed still, alive still dead
spilled on her heart , skilled with the passion i pour there
I have a glass of her pain and it consumed me
True, the truth hurts
it will do more than hurt, sure it will
hunted and chased down
apprehended, caught, Im lost now
I fall< I rise up
I live for the satisfaction it gives her
half the battle aint even faught yet
half my heart still i breate air
all my love im willing,
doubted it not even for a second
planted and watched hope grow
watched and never looked away from the first day
and from her first words
I deserved them
I am a success when i search you\
a failure when i give up
a monster when i get mad
the devil when you want him
a mind of a wise man when you try me
Im a fool just to blind them
a loud mouth to the be the sound of
a leader so they will surround me
a ninja when i get them all in then
a major part of the whole scheme of
The things i dream of
the life i want back

Lessons I Have Learned

A handshake speaks volumes, keep it firm & strong
Learn from your mistakes & admit when you're wrong
Stand your ground when you know you're right
Never drop your guard or waver in a fight

Never give up & put your best in all you do
Follow your heart & to yourself stay true
May every word match every deed
Always lend a hand to those in need

Things turn out better when you take time to pray
A light heart & hard work keep the storm clouds at bay
Hold your friends close for each is a treasure
In your family, look always for solace & pleasure

A light touch on the reins is only half the battle
Make sure you set deep & tall in the saddle
Treat horse & man with equal respect
When asked for advice, be kind but direct

There's a bright side to even the darkest day
You'll gain more from life if a smile leads the way
A true friend is one who cannot be bought
These are a few of the lessons I've been taught

By those who have guided me throughout my life
My wellspring of wisdom to rely on in times of strife

Premium Member Clean Bill of Health

Got a clean bill of health
From my doctor today
So I'm feeling darn good
That's needless to say!

For a man of my age
That's a pretty good thing
Thought one or two parts
Would need replacing

But hooray, hallelujah
I'm good for a while
No need for pills
Can't wipe off the smile!

With a positive outlook
You've won half the battle
It's mind over matter
Just don't ya get rattled!

I could surely continue
For many more verses
There's no funeral pending
So send back the hearses

Premium Member Three Cheers For Poetry Soup

My friends on P-Soup are loyal and true

Every morning I rush to my computer

To read all their happy upbeat comments

And suddenly the sun breaks through the clouds

At times, I must admit I have thought of leaving

When everyday trials cloud my vision

But then I quickly come to my senses

I would certainly have withdrawal sysmtoms

Similar to those folks abstaining from alcohol

I would have to join “P-Soup Anonymous” for help

To get me through the difficult and trying times

Without the aid of friends and family

I'd be a broken man aimlessly wandering the streets

As I sit here writing, I am convinced

This will never ever come to pass

Alright, I'll admit it... I'm obsessed

There! I feel much better now

Admitting I have a problem is half the battle

So it seems I'll be here for the foreseeaable future

Thank you all my dear friends

And three cheers for Poetry Soup!
