A Name By Any Other Arose

Native Americans call me 'Paleface'
'Roundeye' say the Chinese race
to a Scot I'm a 'Sassenach' 'Boyo' to those in Wales
altho' a 'Limey' in New York
I answer to none such hails
once a 'Gweilo' in Hong Kong Down Under was a 'Pom'
you may give a dog a bad name (and/or a bone)
he may even be your (best) 'Pal' don't think me fuddy-duddy
for what's more I have my limits and I'm not your (good) 'Buddy'
then a 'Rooinek' 'round Cape Town
'Farangi' was I in Dubai
and tho' no English rose was a 'Bloke' when there
as originally from Kenya when owned by Blighty
in some parts of the U.S.A. I'm now called 'Whitey'
'Haole' in Hawaii that's me and 'Gringo'
down south in Mexico
seems I'm all things to all men a man of many hats
altho' no they know me not
whether saint or sinner
you may call me what you will
but just not late for dinner

A gringo in Argentina
made his hosts all laugh like hyenas.
Wanting food before bed,
what he asked them instead:
donde estan las llaves de la cochina

Brent Landers is a keen and brave cowboy
Whose kicks with shunning- bullet-skills decoy
Became the most wanted
Big gold prize for each head
Saving the girl proved all his heart’s employ

Goofy Gringo

So I'm inspecting this truck at a kind Hispanic woman’s house mid July and the poor woman didn’t speak a lick of English. Me being me tries to make small talk with her and I start fanning my face trying to signal how hot it is today. I think she misunderstood me because she became really agitated and began smelling her clothes and checking the bottom of her shoes. I tried pointing towards the sun but she must have interpreted that as armpit body odor when I lifted my arm ?? No more small talk unless they speak English.

In Old California 7

Was gold cross over alter fake or real?
Must be a metal made resembling gold.
T'was fake young lady's mind did surely feel,
not right apse having gold cross real to hold.
This so until then otherwise was told.
Her father wore cross gold on chain affixed
around neck, neath "camisa" white, not bold.
When wife did scold, prayers, oaths then he admixed.

Now lady wanted mother's friendship healed.
Was three years convent penance time enough?
In whisper she gives lines heart holds concealed:

" Mamacita, why did you make me do that?
I loved the gringo and he wanted to marry me.
‘Twas right. In sight of God, Mamacita,
‘twas right! I'm an old woman now. Eighteen's
too old.No one'll want me. Please don't make me
marry Arracho now that I've returned home.
He was bald when I was sent away - what's
he like now? Just because Arracho owns
Rancho de Plata isn't reason for me to marry him,
is it? Mamacita, can't you see that's wrong? Pedro,"
she directed thoughts to her older brother.
"You're mother's favorite. Holy Virgin, since
birth you've taken best of everything. You can
do what you want and there's no monastery for you."

Raw Foreign Power

Old bones rattle on the lawn mower
Electric in nature through Texas grass
The brown wrinkled man is Spanish
Speaks English with a foreign accent

Thick as the greens he tractors through
Broken as his soul
Older than you know
The hills remember him as simple

Rumbling over weeds to make a living
To mow things down to make them pretty
Heavy lines take turns humming up above
Electric songs in nature through live wires

The man stops to take a beer
Under the oak he spies a row of trees
Weeping willows cry this time of year
He cuts the grass to keep it Gringo

Night falls on Jose and his widow
From across the border orders come
To leave the human race behind
They could never come fast enough for him
Moving through a landscape that's not his

San Antonio

adios gringo
buenos dias muchacho
hastsa la vista

si signorita
gracia para sombrero
signore lo perdí

a rio grandé
cruzar sierra madré
voy a san miguel

san hosé, san juan
pedir san antonio
decir por favor

The Mexican Border Fence

Billions of tax dollars, for a useless curtain
"Gringo, we just dig a tunnel to move our drugs under your fence"
Been doing it for years, worthless a screen door on a submarine

Rap Jesus

i sling rhymes
like i fling stones;
miraculous style
bound to rock your dome.
i got metaphors
like a fortune teller;
for sense like a psychic
when i predict futures.
my two cents
make so much sense
i gain interest.
i'm a bank-teller storytelling
shorty loving typo fellow;
clever like a rapper but lazy
wont spit it loco gringo.
just pen it and sling it
type borracho.
best go get your poncho
cuz im turning water to cerveza
then im dropping some rain on ya.
tasty styles token so your bound to be saying
is this hound playing or was he born easter morning?
