“Necessity is the mother of invention,”
                                     And this is undeniably true,
When the subject is one of contention
                                     Figuring out what to do.

And, when it comes to climate change
                                    Nothing could be more so,
Necessity demands our priorities to rearrange
Before up in flames we go.

Why is it so hard to accept global warming
                                   The evidence is quite clear,
The weather is giving us strong warnings
                                   Danger grows each year.

I suspect we’ve waited much too long
                                   It has gotten out-of-hand
We must quickly do something significant
If we want to save our land.

Greenhouse Effect Human Error

The asphalt buries
               human errors adjutant
               of greenhouse effect...

Lockdown- 41st Day

This earth has no day and night in the reigns of lockdown
Sun, moon, stars, light, dark all are not suitable here now
Dwellers are well in same feelings at safety home
Foods delivery in time brings no struggle in hunger mongering
Factories of technological developed countries are closed
No CFC creating ozone holes of atmosphere where breathing live well

Climate change, global warming, greenhouse effect, iceberg melting
All will be stopped one day; because-
Long, long march of lockdown is on for healthy environment
Covid-19's long walk to freedom perhaps will set free this earth from the pollution

May victory be friend the long march of lockdown
May victory be friend the long walk to freedom of nCoV-19
Let the healthy life of earthly atmosphere come
Let the world live a long and healthy-wealthy life

Covid-Nineteen In Twenty-Twenty

Everyone's quarantined, I'm out of Thorazine
Stuck in the house, me and my spouse

When we woke up today, no lights on Broadway
It was shut down, my New York town

Stores out of toilet paper, stuck in a skyscraper
For fifteen days, stay six feet away

Cat five hurricanes, I'm wrapped in cellophane
My poor brain, climate change

Wildfires and earthquakes, HE's saying pump the brakes
Greenhouse effect, did you forget

In a few hundred years, destroyed the land of HIS
We abused it, face the music

Two weeks no pollution, its just been proven
The sky is clear, in this leap year

Living off the land, helping your fellow man
The way it should be, hoarding's so ugly

Everyone come together, be a good neighbor
It's not about you, this; the preview

Modern day test of time, not about your mighty dime
COVID-Nineteen, pray for a vaccine!

The Goldilocks Planet

Do you wonder about the sun ?
Is it now running out of gas?
What happens when it does, my friend?
I will tell you of Earth's last pass

Each minute of every day
The Sun burns its gaseous core
Billions of years it has done so
There is perhaps a billion more

Now, as the sun runs out of gas
The size of the orb does expand
And the edge of the sun creeps nearer
The Earth - as the physics does demand

We live in a "Goldilocks Space"
It's not too cold and not too hot
But as the Sun invades our niche
It will get hotter than we've got

Now this is fact, so listen well
In due time the oceans will boil
And all of our Earth will burn crisp
No matter the worry and toil

We will either leave or perish
When Goldilocks no longer works
When global warming is a fact
And the ocean bubbles and perks

It's human nature to worry
And warming is a course to pursue
Fight the greenhouse effect of course
But we leave or die in round two

Premium Member Respect Costs Money

Looking back in retrospect
Previous owners were circumspect
Not meaning harsh disrespect
But years of neglect
And upkeep gone unchecked
Amount much to the domino effect

Our new architect
With his cryptic dialect
And superior intellect
Presents his bold new project
Structural troubles to correct
Existing building to protect
Proud addition to erect
For youthfulness to inject
Pride and strength to resurrect
And combat the greenhouse effect

The costs both direct and indirect
There for us to dissect and inspect
Several naysayers to deflect
Since from all we’ll have to collect
Because we know some will object
To grand illusions of prospect
Garnered benefits to expect
And resurgence of self-respect
To create a positive ripple effect

He Measured My Height

He measured my height,
and weighed me in kilograms.
My body index he obtained
“You are fat and glittering”, he told me.
“You pollute air and cause greenhouse effect.
The earth is in danger due your weight.
Crime you have committed.
Your body you torture daily.
Here is arrest warrant. Take him. Go.
Ten years in prison from today.
Starve well to learn being healthy,
and save mother earth”.

Dear Meneer

As I land,
You hold my hand
As I fall,
You stand me tall

You opened my eyes
Removed my icecap of blindness
To expose my inner core
And showed me that I’m worth so much more

As I bend,
You mould
As I cry,
You show me the how and the why

About the apeman
That added one plus one
As I live and breathe, I evolved
His greatest gift to the world, is love

As I play,
You knelt to pray
As I itch,
You took a stick to teach

As I scratch my head in class
You stretch my mind like hot glass
The mystery of the life was made clear
A seed of knowledge planted where there was only fear

As I raise my hand to reach
You enrich,
As I reflect on your impact
You’re my retrospect

We waste as the greenhouse effect
We burn in crude oil as dinosaurs went extinct
And as mining coal is our goal
We mirror smoke and turmoil

Thank you,
Mnr. Hilary Ramokgopa

The Airing of Green

as sure as God’s green apples
they gave my plan a green light
green around the gills
a green back

the hanging of Christmas greens

why does brass turn green?
turnip greens

greenhorns are naive
greenware has not yet been fired
what is the greenhouse effect?
he lost his green card

Eco-Friends

Please be an eco-friend
To make the earth livable
For the next generations.

Please reduce greenhouse effect
To show our children
We really do care.

Please don’t go for only money
Love the people as much as you can
So that they love you.

Please think deeply
Whatever I said
Before it’s too late.

Premium Member Left On the Shelf

Continental Shelf with its Continental Slope
If the Antarctic Ice Shelf melts
Continental Shelf gloats.

If its near flat land, it will gain on thee
As it extends its flow, we will never gain you see
Our seas will rise, as the ocean floors deepen
This heavenly land will become its seeking.

With the flood plains finally left on the shelf
Our mountains will become, small hill like elf's
Not so giant as in their day
Many will look like Tor's, in many a Bay.

If Global warming, is its result
Our Populi need to stand up and shout
If not for us, but our Children's generation
The powers that be, have to stand to attention.

Solar Variation, Greenhouse Effect
Two processes, Governments have to reflect
Carbon emission's, Ozone layer
Were probably all at fault, not earthly players.

One day we may look back, and wonder why
Too ignorant too talk, or just too shy
But will we have the guts
To look our planet in the eye.

On World Enviornment Day, 5 Th June

It's a day for taking a pledge
That we wo'nt litter earth with garbage
It's a day to introspect
About grim fact of greenhouse effect
An occasion of contrition for ozone erosion
A time for nonbiodegradable material to shun
And an event to declare on oath
That instead of incurring Nature's wrath
We'll opt for sustainable induswtrial growth
In post AIDS scenario
It's an occasion to explicitly state
The importance of disposal of medical waste
It's a time to warn eco-hostile industries,
who,by emitting toxic gases
From atmosphere oxygen slashes
Above all it's a carnival for planting trees
For suffusing with oxygen the morning breeze

Heat From the Heavens

The mean temperature for January two thousand and six (thus far)
noticeably above the norm for this time of year
prognosticators foretell various forecasts per this third planet from the star
which inhabitants upon Mother Earth burden of responsibility must bear
billions of people wanton pollutants ratchet up barometric millibar
dialing up greenhouse effect, which serious scenario scientists fear
correlation from profligate offal ways traced from freed genie in the jar
no longer stretch of imagination affects mankind did sear
since day of reckoning whence Prometheus set stage for war
pitting mankind against Gaia messages we fail to hear.
