Kiss It Goodnight

     The cat’s curled up
       the dog’s dreaming deep
     The parakeet’s quiet
       from the mouse not a peep

     Kids tucked away
       so early, half past

Don't forget to say goodnight 
'Cause when you do my world seems right 
For though the bed bugs may not bite 
Without it I just won't sleep tight

A nice long trip to dreamland waits
And your goodnight unlocks the gates
Of all the dreams it generates
Big snowstorms are my favorites

Goodnight Moon

the subject of my poem and my latest stamp purchase
was also a book that I read to my son
when he was little
not thirty-three, like he is now

forgive my forgetting the details
the book is no longer on my shelf
but in the story
it's bedtime for a little rabbit
who says goodnight

I loved you quite a lot
And all the dreams we talked about
Were sadly all for naught
I loved to write you poems
But now I guess I'll stop
And save the rest for someday

Good Morning And Goodnight

Why are the two words in goodnight very close together
And in good morning the words are separated from each other:
Simply because by bedtime we are cuddling together.
