I used to sing, "My country tis of thee..."
Now, a 'Once upon a time' use to be
My allegiance was pledged
But to Trump never fledged
'Not my president,' with those, I agree
Where life was once so simple, no fires fanned
There were no worries for a future planned
Now it's gone to the dogs
Those power hungry hogs
Are in need of the nation's reprimand
Other countries have problems of their own
But I don't chew on them like a dog bone
So why excoriate
Berate and objurgate?
As Americans, WE have the right to groan
Hope's, dreams; realities truth
Junkers,rust buckets old times pass
Day of morals become battles
Who are we but just the world
Yesterday's Gone, tomorrow just begun
Today's dilemma, tomorrow's war
The days grow old just as I
Death be certain, life isn't but just a breath
Sun rise, emptiness of a world struggle
Power, greed even we are for ourselves
Is it no man matter except for our desire
That we live for only one but not in him
Our own people, even we shun their existence
That only in our hearts do we fault
Even in life we are guilty of no perfectness
Yesterday's Gone to the dogs we eat
A broken society,a new life on look
But what are we if only one
But we are the world united in one
The soul's so easily forgotten buried in graves
We are only as strong as our success we vision
In ourselves, beat of a heart lives and dies
Today be your choice cause yesterday's gone
Today's life, tomorrow's future; what is it we become
I think I know something in these fraught times
Several arguments later and debates
Accusations that I don’t at all chime
They have the gall to charge me with their hate
And now I know something which is not grime
Bro, I looked high and low for the answers
But they concealed themselves behind thickets
The knowledge I needed was a rogue star
And hell-hound bowlers knocked out my wickets
I then thought I would not get very far
I think I now know something through the fogs
Something that can now be nicely cogent
Something I won’t throw to the red fire logs
I’ve gotten it and my long search is spent
I know this thing: I’ve clean gone to the dogs
dinner dark
like blackened corn on a husk
mother hits me with the blunt force of leftover liver
frying pan bled
densely knotted
unanchored from Julia Child cuisine
mother's radical rejection of normal kid food
that punches through my faith in parenting
meal of grievance
tough liver that dents gravity
that requires self sacrifice
unsettling
like imperishable grief
do I let go of my fears?
for a factory-floor meal
gone to the dogs
(if only I had one!)

the day my life went
apparently somewhere else ~

Silence is golden is a phrase from the past
Things have changed, need to rant, rave and blast
To be heard above the din
Much to our chagrin
Civility in the world has gone to the dogs fast
trees flourish
have gone to the dogs
day-and-night

A word to the wise is sufficient.
Leave those earthly treasures,
Gone to the dogs, and in the
Pocket of the treacherous.
In a tug-of-war,
In a vault of deception,
Is a cake baked for the simpletons.
Those ones who always makes me laugh.
Two can never play this game.
The wicked merchant, the antagonist has every edge; a noose knot,
Tightened at the gallows
Is where the ultimate price will be.
Does it have any other hope but death?
Come away, fly with me.
My name is wisdom.
I am for the ages.
I have seen such calamity
And have warned the simpletons.
They rejected me
but the wise rejoiced.
