I used to sing, "My country tis of thee..." Now, a 'Once upon a time' use to be My allegiance was pledged But to Trump never fledged 'Not my president,' with those, I agree Where life was once so simple, no fires fanned There were no worries for a future planned Now it's gone to the dogs Those power hungry hogs Are in need of the nation's reprimand Other countries have problems of their own But I don't chew on them like a dog bone So why excoriate Berate and objurgate? As Americans, WE have the right to groan

Lin, an excellent poem. I concur with your thoughts. We as a nation seem to run now under a dictatorship than a democracy. I am not seeing any positives under Trump's rule. Where are the cheaper prices of foods? Jobs are being cut and the stock market is crashing. Veterans are not being honored and rewarded. Not all immigrants are criminals as he likes to pretend. Our country is in a sad and scary state at this time.

MAGA has been a farce all along. There may be a couple of things he's done that I'd agree with, but the list of cons FAR outweighs the few. At least before he took office again, America still held some modicum of respect in the world. Thank, Tania.

he is a megalomanic Lin he wants Gaza for the minerals and Ukraine and Greenland for the same reasons oh and i mustn't forgot Canada - I was always told 'I want doesnt get! perhaps his mother never told him. I see he has 'purchased' a tesla - i dont think he is allowed to drive as POTUS = perhaps at the end of the 4 years the battery will be flat - unless it expldes and self combusts!

Ya he really sucks, he's deporting criminals, he's removing and revealing the bloated bureaucratic waste and fraud, he wants better educational choices for everyone, he beliefs biological men should not compete in women's sports, or invade the privacy of women's locker rooms, he wants fair and equitable trade with other countries, and bring to an end the suffering and loss of life of senseless wars taking place. Who does he think he is!!

Gershon, I wish I could lead in with, 'respectfully' to what I'm writing to you but after reading your comments on another post about women, you don't have my respect. I see you've read Mark's comments and responded to his thoughts there instead of presenting them as your opinion on MY poem. Mark made amends, but the same thing I told him applies to you. We may disagree on politics, or anything but I've never written negative comments on one of your opinionated posts, and that's not tongue in cheek. I'd appreciate you not piggybacking your comments onto another poet's remarks on my poetry. I'll have to post another Not Today, Tumbleweed piece. Screen shots taken.

Gershon...my comment discussing DT and women was abbreviated. Let's see...he has worked to deny women and girls access to health care, including the right not to die needlessly from a miscarriage. He has undermined women’s right to control their own bodies and defunded or stopped the programs that protect their right to be safe from domestic violence and sexual assault. He has ended programs designed to protect women’s employment and has fired women from positions of authority. This was also just a brief synopsis. We can argue the points till the cows come home, but the question is how do you feel about women? Are they as capable as men, or do you subscribe to the whole childless cat lady theory? I do get it...some men feel small and are looking to blame or contain others. That's right out of DT's playbook.

Gershon...Fentanyl from Canada sounds convenient for extorting an ally...a really good strategy don't you think? I'll give you a brief synopsis on DT and women in another comment in a few minutes. The prison guards are asking for another bribe to let me speak. In the meantime ask yourself if you see any advantages living in a place that respects the rule of law. Maybe you'd prefer a place with a legal system like Russia? Maybe we can have a party in Siberia. Now, that's a twist!!!

Greetings Gershon...To answer your question directly, illegal aliens deserve the legal process enshrined by law...nothing more and nothing less. You're assuming they have criminal backgrounds. If they do, by all means present that information to a court of law and deport them. I'm aware that one of the deportees was here under an asylum program awaiting a hearing...and he's apparently not a criminal. If a relative of yours was illegally rounded up, you wouldn't like it...but it takes some empathy to understand and feel how this hurts. I suppose your family was here along with the native Americans and in that case you have a right to frown on people who come to the USA for asylum. I'm suggesting like most of us, your family immigrated here from somewhere else...get it? Wait...we don't have home schooling and charter schools in the USA?

To Duke B: What 'due process' do illegal aliens with criminal backgrounds 'deserve?' Next, trimming fraud and waste is always fought. When corporations attempt it, they get push-back too... Educational choices will only come with more charter schools and home schooling, both of which the Democrats have loudly opposed... As for trade: Trump is trying with Canada, e.g.,, to get them to defend their own borders if they really want to keep them and to stop the flow of fentanyl to the U.S. Anything wrong with that?... And finally, I think Mr. Trump stopped bragging about 'pussy grabbing ten years ago,' and CERTAINLY is doing the right thing by banning men from women's sports. ~ gw

Mark, we don’t mind deporting criminals. However, we believe in following a process that allows for a hearing in court with representation so that no one gets railroaded. We don’t mind trimming fraud, waste, and abuse provided it’s done with careful and transparent analysis and fairness and not by removing inspectors general. We don’t mind better educational choices but with some oversight so everyone has a fair shot as determined by law. We don’t mind trade as negotiated by agreement as he previously signed with Canada and Mexico, and we don’t want men invading women’s sanctity like the professed pussy grabber you sing praises to.

Mark, there are enough political opinions to carry on conversations forever, but since I haven't commented in a negative manner on your poems, (yes, I've read a few) it'd be considerate of you to treat mine with the same respect I've treated yours.
