Premium Member Face Facts

Like a boat listing at sea
I am much inclined to follow thee

        From port to far-flung port
           Our shared destiny I court…

Face facts: This is such juvenile trash
           Reading it causes diaper rash

Premium Member Fireflies Flying on Sky

I fly in sky of fireflies
    when crescent
    pretty descent
    Moon is about to rise.
    Sparkling glistening glow warms :
    Intermittent
    magnificent
warm glow bringing calm charms .

     That occurs while in dream.
     but at dawn break
     as I awake
     to face facts, I scream.
     Real life is a challenge
     Path is rough.
    Steps are tough
    Too difficult to manage.

I fly in sky of fireflies
    being happy
    while sleepy,
    awaking watching lies.
    Sky of fireflies flashing ambition
    so bright
    at night.
   Day break bringing no expectation.

My Luck In Love

My hands are tainted, painted with regret and stained with caution
I wish to love like no tomorrow, sorrow borrows my will
Green tea shots, forgot, but not by choice of heart
My mind plagued by longing, belonging to the songs unsung
Written in place, face facts I’m not privy to know, it shows
My knowledge based on life, strife and years of poison luck
Dreams of love in serenade, barely made with thoughts of reality
Trial begins in part, start to live, full stop, new beginning, and forever after then

Premium Member Easier To Pretend

Folks hide anxieties behind a smile,
hesitant to reveal how they're feeling.
Many are scared, and have been for a while;
global warming has left their heads reeling.

Calling climate change a hoax won't stop it;
glaciers will melt, and the oceans will rise.
We're more frightened than we care to admit,
but today's online world believes in lies.

No one wants to face facts they know are true;
it's easier to pretend that life's great.
But Nature doesn't care what you say or do,
and, like it or not, she'll decide your fate.

Leave your mask in the land of let's pretend,
and face reality: these lies must end.

Premium Member On Reparations

Can we ever truly right the wrongs of the past?
Seems to me what was done cannot be undone,
And I am not a proponent of crippling remorse
So, let’s just face facts, as they were, and resolve
To learn from our mistakes, moving steadily on.
Must we pay the price for our ancestors’ follies,
Recalling that reparations will never be enough?
After all, we cannot reach those who were hurt,
We cannot undo their terrible pain and suffering.
I am convinced we must not reward poor excuses
Who wallow in unnecessary self-pity over time,
But reward those who rise above their travesties
Working toward equal rights and responsibilities
For the civil betterment of our inclusive society.

Premium Member Up In Smoke

Last year I enrolled in trendy gym
Was enthusiastic about being slim
Have to say I was intimidated
When personal trainer demonstrated.

Spandex-clad my body held in
Mirror torments this fight will win
Parked on a bicycle going nowhere fast
Five minutes later completely downcast.

Rowing machine? yes I'll have a go
This only adds to my tale of woe
Tiny dumbells that small children could lift
Somehow managed to hurt my wrist.

A class where beginners exercise
Think of McDonalds~burger and fries
This torture was expensive I'm in the red
Cannot say I'm worried will soon be dead.

All of my dreams went up in smoke
Their no refund policy dashed any hope
That was an expense could've done without
Force to face facts I'm a total copout.

Remember To Face

Write to ignite
Write it down to remember
Remember the message
Remember the meaning
Meaning has a purpose
Meaning is key to motivate
Motivate others to move
Motivate the world to change
Change for the greater good
Change for the better
Better version of yourself
Better with your eyes open
Open to new ideas
Open the door to opportunity
Opportunity is calling
Opportunity awaits you
You are the future
You can create the inspiration
Inspiration comes from within
Inspiration fuels the dream
Dream as if you’ll live forever
Dream big
Big mountains to climb
Big hurdles to overcome
Overcome your fears
Overcome the impossible
Impossible is not in your vocabulary
Impossible to hide from the truth
Truth be told
Truth sets you free
Free to be yourself
Free to spread your wings and fly
Fly me to the moon
Fly high
High expectations
High above the world
World of possibilities
World of make believe
Believe that you can
Believe in what’s real
Real power
Real life
Life is short
Life can be unexpected
Unexpected questions to answer
Unexpected problems to face
Face reality
Face facts
Facts…
Reality…

Premium Member Are We Needed

If everyone left, at the same time, right now!
There’d be a sigh of relief, from the whale to the cow.
Buildings would crumble, and towers would fall.
But earth wouldn’t need us, wouldn’t miss us at all.

If we were to vacate, depart, and call it a day.
The rest of the natural world would awake and make hay.
The trains wouldn’t run and buses would stall.
But earth wouldn’t miss us, wouldn’t miss us at all.

With every soul gone, left, and out of the way.
All the pets would survive, roam again free, dogs to stray.
The birds continue to sing, the waters come clear.
Mountains stay tall, and the endangered will cheer!

So, let’s face facts, the world doesn’t need us more.
Don’t kid yourself man, this ball didn’t die without the dinosaur.
Nature will rage and blow, moan and recover.
The world doesn’t need man, we’re not nature's lover.

Insiders

Prophets of this modern age
Find the Tao on a business page
Seek a broker instead of a sage
Cause you know they make more profits

Three wise men without a clue
Wearing Jerry Garcia ties and three piece suits
Say they don't know just don't give a hoot
Cause you know they make good profits

You won't face facts and you can't look back
Gotcher backs against the Wall
Things are what they are you're a falling star
But your wish is to take us all

A Humpty Dumpty economy
Tweetle Dumb bureaucracy
A nursery rhyme mentality
Once upon a time

Mr. Pennsylvania Avenue
Didn't know what to do
Held his breath til he turned blue
If you're caught only then it's a crime

You won't face facts and you can't look back
Gotcher backs against the Wall
Things are what they are you're a falling star
But your wish is to take us all

All all all all all all all all...

Opportunity For Unity

Opportunity for Unity

What we saw after so much scrutiny;
Minds must not meddle with mutiny;
Racial bias no more,
Or try to even score;
Seek a perfect opportunity for unity.

James Serious Mysterious Horn
Retired Veteran and Poet

Trump was ambiguous and avoiding
and putting off making decisions last
night as usual. He must come to the
conclusion that he has to face facts
and be realistic and remove himself
from the Trump dream world. He does
dislike teleprompter and is like a child
rebelling against his parents. Mission
and goals must equal each other.
Afghanistan is a war of attrition not
designed for victory but Trump
said that we would be victorious.

No Longer Here Will Remain

No Longer Here Will Remain

Had heard softy sound of a distant drum
After to all of his desires he did succumb
While lying there dreaming in his bed
Having to face facts he often would dread.

What if pregnant she were to become?
And me like an idiot who was so dumb
Forgot about words she often had said
About ways she wished that I was dead.

Over and over repeated and repeated
What was said without a word being deleted
Hoping to win at least some of her favor back
And when greeted would give me more slack.

But even still after that the fact remained
In many things may be well versed and trained
Lights became lower and were growing dim
Had to face facts things were growing grim.

Know I will never win her back again
And for sure no matter what, where or when
From me a loser she had left and gone
I the great lover and also a Don Juan.

Waited and wanted it all over and done
Placed bullet gently into cylinder of a gun
Then did fire it directly into my brain
My life here on earth no longer will remain.

James Thomas Horn
Retired Soldier and Poet

Sadly, there are still some people out
there who feel like this.

Friends Punch

When friends come you align
With or without they sublime
Happier than those been single
So day after day they mingle
Time flies to test acts
Are you suppose to face facts
Real friends never change
But their punches never remain the same
Pray you find the right one there
Many are just fake out there
Always smiling but mind dialing
Angry but shows out friendly
A two pose to three close_up
And when things go wrong they never show up
Such is life when you feel friends around
Just suck your lips when you can't make a sound

The Menu

Pig feet, hog maws, chitterlings, yams, greens and cornbread,
These are some of the things that our bodies are being fed.
Fat back, ribs, neck bones, macaroni and cheese;
Our hearts and arteries are crying, please, please, please.

Buttered rice, succulent greasy peas and a thin-layered chocolate cake,
We keep pumping this in our bodies, so what is it going to take.
Hypertension, high cholesterol, or maybe even a heart attack,
To get us from eating these fatty foods and help us to face facts.

We have heard the old saying "You are what you eat."
More than half of the time our diets are incomplete.
We need to eat a well-balanced meal from the four food groups,
And every day at least five vegetables and fruit.

Drink eight glasses of water to help keep your system clean,
And one other food product that will provide some protein.
A little exercise and a good amount of rest,
Each of us is different, for you; you know what 's best.

This is not said to scold you, nor is it to criticize;
It is only put here to give you some healthy advice.
If we don't adjust the way that we are  eating;
Sooner, rather than later our Master we will be meeting.
