With a stiff upper lip and old school tie
still it's just not cricket
but the upper crust they say
are on a sticky wicket
to pay the estate or make ends meet
they have conducted tours
of stately homes safari parks
and the family jewels
we used to go to Scarborough Southend-on-Sea
Bognor Brighton Blackpool
have fish 'n' chips for tea
but now for fifty

Friends savor her company “Juicy”,
Cherishing, sensing a loss when she’s “Sans”,
Creative yet Linds’s modesty sends,
She’s our Yoga “Loosie Goosy”,
Caring School Nurse hands,
Cure tears without fuss,
Comforting fears as one becomes Twosie,
Not slave to

Crown of Germany's Grand Duchess

I had never seen such a regal crown
It was sparkling full of jewels
Looked like it was freshly polished
It belonged to the Grand Duchess grandpa said
Auguste Victoria, German’s finest queenly monarch
I could tell that he had been smitten
How did we get it, Grandpa?
My great-great-grandfather would never tell he said.
We smiled at each other, knowing our family

Grand Duchess

Dampened earth announces its worth
with rotting leaves, moss on trees.
Dew’s panache from morning’s wash
mystic glow with sighing sough.

Senses heightened and enlightened.
Hare bides hole, fidgeting mole; 
musky muskrats, batting bats;
sweet sugar canes, berry stains.

Nature feeds our feral needs.
Nature clears our eyes and ears.
Nature hones sensitive nose.
Nature touches - grand duchess.

               we frolic nonchalant and coolly cruel

These, cacophony that beggars descriptions

Disorder from indecent breed incubating, 

Confusion of morals, the imposition of strange culture, 

Filthily dressed to undress my mind, 

Our teacher teaching theories of writs and wits

These promiscuous pastors parading piety with nudity

Lewd licentious and libidinous species luring laurels with drama, 

These traditional priests tutoring the innocent as the skilled orthodox

I Can No Longer Be a Duchess

Affluent and formal
pink lilies deck the tables;
we await the 
sweet, affected 
laughter of our  friends.
Bedecked in bouffant hair-do's
perfumes, ermines, jewels
brocades and buckled shoes,
we dazzle, yes! We dazzle
with our mirrors, and our decals,
our precious art, and plaster,
exotic candelabras, 

but  I can't wait to make my
exit to  wander in the gardens
and let the scented

My Duchess

She once asked me why I had never painted her, pale dress and lips rose red, framed by misty sunlight green
For a multitude of others had tripped and floated in my studio, spinning, laughing and posing like they were young again
So many, and yet so few that were real, pretending that I was the one,

I sat next to the Duchess at tea.
It was worse than I thought would be.
A  bee sat on her nose
The Duchess turn'd verbose
When it stung her right there but not me.

The evil duchess of New York
Ate not but fancy pies of pork.
She scraped her knife, she scraped her fork;
She should have learned to use a cork,
Because a time ago in Maine,
She stuffed her face too full one night.
She gave her prince a jolting fright,
Left others writhing in delight,
To finally see her highness slain.

Who would believe your slim elegant body would win my affection, 
when you gracelessly step on toes? Your soft doe skin of cream 

spotted brown, floppy ears I threaten to turn into gloves as a joke.
Through many chain jangle calls for walks where you race and lunge 

and bark fighting for the right to be
