Stop Poking My Chicken Poop

I have a rifle,
you have a double-barreled shotgun -
you're just old fashioned that way.

The cat, the black and white cat,
is watching everything from the barn.

I am just letting you know
that we don't have to fight it out like this,
even though your fence-line
is clearly 2 inches over my spread!

The cat is considering moving to town.

Why don't you go back
to where you came from,
over there –
2 inches away.

Hickory Dickory. Can you imagine my shock,
when I saw a mouse in my grandfather clock?
The hands moved until the chimes struck one.
I took aim with my double barreled shot gun.

That mouse squeaked and in haste, off he flew.
I planned a surprise, so when it chimed at two
he'd take a bite of cheese and he'd be trapped.
I saw him nibble, but he escaped; trap snapped!

This went on throughout the day, hour after hour.
I was very angry and searched for more fire power.
In the basement I discovered a stick of dynamite,
and lit the fuse when the clock struck at midnight.

Hickory Dickory. Can you imagine my shock,
when the mouse laughed and began to mock.
"Hickory Dickory. You blew up your own house
and still didn't get rid of me, a little ol' mouse!"

A Door Locked Is a Gun Cocked

A door with a strong key locked
Is a room outrightly blocked!
So, in which space had folks flocked
When darkest eleven clocked?

Not a door at which one knocked,
For stubborn key one has mocked:
The picture: a room with wares stocked
By one who had a ship docked,
All its windows well-shuttered
For a privacy not shattered…

A door with a strong key locked
Is a double-barreled gun cocked.

Tales of the Bone

Skull where is your brain,
where inside this abandoned cave is your mind?
Did God leave you like this
your jaw open in that crazy grin
the wind echoing under your cracked dome?

There are fields of skulls, walls made of skulls
catacombs just for skulls
and still nobody has found you.
DNA and carbon dating may tell us
when you were
but your teeth chatter no tales now.

I look upon the scattered scaffolding
and wonder if your house
is now built high in a boneless heaven,
and if that house has an occupant -
a skull of starlight?

Yet are we not made of stardust even now
and are we waiting with baited breath
to depart these double barreled eye sockets
like bullets from a smoking bone-handled gun?

And will we enter the light
naked as hermit crabs into another shell
or must we lay here
slack-jawed and grimacing
blind even to the sky within us?

the sun is bright
but doesn't warm my heart
today
Emily said that "thing with feathers" *
perched in my soul
would never stop singing

it does

and I just want to crawl back in bed
be unconcious
or binge something sick and sappy
that wets my eyes

all day

nah--

-- I'm gonna get in my boots
hike straight up that evil mountain
and flip a double barreled salute
at every-- "thing" above
and below

--on my way down

argue with God

whose sun is it

anyway

The rebel who came to town
In search of inner peace
She roams the American West
Specifically, the Texas Hill Country and South Plains
She keeps a journal of her adventures and fights
injustice where she finds it
With a revolver and her dead father's sawed-off
double-barreled shotgun!

Murdered On Halloween

It was the most horrible thing I've ever seen.
I was murdered 100 years ago on Halloween.
A man accused me of vandalizing his house but I didn't do it.
I told him that I was innocent but sadly, I could not prove it.
He grabbed his double barreled shotgun and I was shot.
He threw my corpse down his well and there it would rot.
When I was killed, I became a ghost.
Revenge was what I wanted the most.
And I got exactly what I wanted.
That man committed suicide after being haunted.
I haunted him for months and he couldn't take it anymore.
He shot himself in the head and his corpse fell to the floor.
I haunt that man's house on Halloween, I haunt it once a year.
If you come to this house on Halloween, you will experience fear.
That man murdered me and when he died, he went straight to Hell.
Stay away from this house on Halloween or I will haunt you as well.

Confessions of a Double Barreled Drama Queen

(just kidding, maybe should be titled: H to O)

career plan

He wants to be a pool boy
sitting round the pond
with a leather-tan employer
wearing nothing but her blonde.

when too little is not enough

He wanted to be a pool boy
so he wore a string.
She fired him ‘cause it covered
just one tiny thing.

Gun

Does not always smell gunpowder
Even
The license Double-barreled shotgun
Hanging with the deer
on the wall
But if the gun
Be translated into any language alive.
The smell of death

The Suicide Soul

A life uninhabited by the suicide soul
life ground him down and took its toll
once a fruitful hardworking life endured
grandeur created from dreams obscured
Being an Entrepreneur creating millionaire lifestyle
every year that past money making was futile
The fairground life was all that he had known
a place for amusement a place where he'd grown
betrayed by his peers sold out now insubstantial
business driven only means to survive were financial
life meaningless with all accomplishment now worthless
a requirement to living had now become surplused
escalating worry of money, health decreasing
only one outcome, a need to end it increasing
showing a deceptive facade to all he was fine
April 5th was the date to end a 50 year lifetime
accompanied by whiskey, gun and a Dictaphone
he recorded drunken passages of time all alone
He had drove and drove to his final destination
a desolate place for the act and no hesitation
pulled out a double barreled shot gun, lay on the bank
with a one shot to the head where the bullet sank.

Five Year Old Logic

FIVE YEAR OLD LOGIC

Earned a reward for yard-work with the mowlawner,
And kitchen work with the washdisher.
Then took a shower and used special hairpoo:
Went to theatre to see a performance of the Cracknutter Suite,

..................................................................................

*Four real-life examples of a child’s logic with double-barreled or oddly-formed
words

Down the Banks of Saddened Eyes

soft bitter dew drops
trickle down the banks
of saddened eyes
finally she gave him
whats heavenly precious
between her thighs
more than skin was inserted inside
his whole being dwelled
amongst her cells
for in love he was
inner estacy he experienced
so hard to believe
her bedroom eyes had
many times deceived
his heart and soul
tarnished for eternity
took others to her hidden place
while laying in their intimate space
failed to lock
the bedroom door
music muffled footsteps
in the corridor
soft bitter dew drops
trickle down the banks
of saddened eyes
as the double barreled pump
exploded between her thighs
buckshots replaced
her lover's eyes
as he stepped off the balcony
a final shot
held the night's sky
