Don Juan

She believed in love at first sight
was deluded and double-crossed
one more time put her heart on the line
everything she once had now is lost
never knew no one who'd dissemble and lie
stab her in the back as he looked her in the eye
made the mistake of giving him her trust
now she's all beat up broke down battered and bust
she who had the faith love conquers all
was duped deceived taken for a ride
if she knew then all she knows now
there'd be no heartbreak she'd be dry-eyed
what a charmer come to no harmer
he enticed her then sliced and diced her
he's a two-timing four-flushing freak
if anyone ever was the perfect portrayal of one
living on a diet of deception and betrayal
he's a true Casanova a real Don Juan

The vessels were already full

I could've let my head rest on your shoulder,
I could've held you tight in my arms,
In the rain, I could've made declarations of love,
But life felt complete there,
Life felt enough there,
Everything felt ready,
Ripened,
            like a ray,
No space for nonsense,
No space for words,
                                No space for death,
The vessels were already full

If you knew

If you knew...
That the one who tore you in two, and
Made you
One with the earth,
And
The one who glues you,
Unites you, petal by petal,
Contributes to your happiness...

If you knew...?
Would you shed another tear?

Latter-Day Don Quixote

When and how
did we see chivalry last
or is it now
a thing of the past
and honour among thieves
is no honour at all
while beating my brains
against the wall
besting the dragons
at City Hall
am I wrong in thinking
it's my fight
or am I errant
as a roving knight
exhibiting gallantry
within a crowd
of apathy
indifferent
to the powers that be
outnumbered and outgunned
Sancho when needed oh where is he?

With apologies to Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547 – 1616)

Peculiar Sensation

Night is pending.
Not even the most anxious
can avoid time.
Day after day I dread the
the death of nothing
that the night spawns.
The TV becomes my
best friend~
a window of light
in the abyss.
Old TV shows
are brighter than
the new.
Tonight I choose
The Andy Griffith Show.
I put my earphones in,
and turn the volume down
(on the off chance
sleep embraces me)
and I embrace my fate.
I watch.
It's strange.
I feel a peculiar force
tugging at the corners
of my mouth.
The opposite of gravity.
A sensation that pulls
upward.
I had forgotten the feeling.
I laugh inside,
but for a different reason
than my body is currently
reacting to.
It seems even the most
sleep-deprived,
fear stricken
low in life
sickos
can't keep themselves
from smiling at
the infamous
Don Knotts

Joe Don Baker

He was born in Groesbeck, Texas and his name was Joe Don Baker.
Sadly, after living for nearly nine decades, he needed an undertaker.
He attended North Texas State College on a sports scholarship.
He starred in "The Living Daylights", "Cape Fear" and "Joysticks".
When I say that he was a very talented man, it's not a joke.
He died of lung cancer which proves that people shouldn't smoke.
After living for eighty-nine years, he perished and it's a shame.
Joe Don Baker was a skilled actor who was destined for fame.

[Dedicated to Joe Don Baker (1936-2025) who died on May 7, 2025]

Premium Member He was not a Don Juan

He thought he was a Don Juan
But he was actually a Don Won’t
Women did not appreciate his wolf whistles or his philandering ways
He ended up alone most nights and weekends until the end of his days

We want ICE

And some fries

And don't forget

Premium Member Don Fell in Love

Don was heartfelt, honest and sincere
When he fell in love with Miss Lynn McVere
She was flamboyant, redheaded, her ego overblown
Not her! Said his family, you are pure and home-grown!
She is as fake and strange as you are real
But Don could not change how his heart could feel
Falling in love was easy; he loved Lynn true.
They stayed married a record number of years, sixty-two.

Old don for a new dawn

In public tanTrump Don has won
As people opted for new dawn,
Voted less a winner,
More against old banner,
Don Quixote has returned as don.

I’m Don McKitty and I need your vote
Your brave fearless leader, don’t make me gloat

Jokers galore as two men pretenD
old, demented both, but greedy too
eyeing leadership of the nation

Both unfit! yet are in this gambiT
insight they lack, no wisdom so far
Doomed is US! to world peace bid adieu
Each is out there to do us all harm
No to them both! need good young new crop!

Jailed for the will to be jailed
Kids shouldn’t play with fire
But they do, and of course they fail
In full conscious of mad desire
What now, will you write a sequel
To Servantes’s Don Quixote
Lots of tyres around every mill
A borsch with pampushka you’ve got
There’ll be Ursula of Brussels
The lady you wish to know better
There’ll be most malign old fossils
You must kill them, then go to get her
Or maybe you’ll call it a day
And give it all up, my brave kid
You’ve said what you needed to say
No one wanted, but you did
Like a moth to the flame you flew
To explain the obvious – why?
Suicidal truth suits a rare few
For the rest the price is too high.

Premium Member My Don Juan

I would like dark chocolate, but I need you
Cadbury alone won't do
I'll climb the Himalayan for you, because
When I'm with you, really with you
Grand Central can come in, yet fade thin, as
I bask with touch of you
Fierce, yet mild well-rounded honeybee
A die-hard Christian man forever, because,
From Okinawa to Timbuktu,
History's fiercest touch to your faith you've faced.
You're continental, universal
Unforgettably cultural
You're my drug of choice
Sweet chocolate could sedate one's voice
But you! You're not terribly sweet
Your bitter changes to firm treat,
Then I know for sure,
You're my Don Juan.
