Broadcasting to me and you.

Only seconds long, they toss
Their message out to get across.
Straightforward - sometimes with humour
To appeal to the consumer.

Marketed products for sale...
New lines of recent retail.
Variations of a flavour
Or something similar to savour.

Through jingles and spoken word...
Business making itself heard.
Near

Like advertisement,
Fruits of the Spirit give,
Souls forever live.

I used to have Alka-Seltzer stomachs
       spitting Excedrin headaches
     Had a lot to like in a Marlboro
       even ate Aunt Jemima pancakes

Customers receiving, head aching
But toothily smiling, voice quaking;
Far into the night candles burning,

He is the rock destroyer pow pow pow
A nine-year-old who has autism is in my office doing commercials
They fly out of his mouth at an incredible rate
You sound like a commercial I tell him

He does not react to this; but his banter does not slow down
It does not speed up either; he is his own

Except for fast food and coffee, where all are targets.
The use of English must be impeccable.
Their is no room for guessing when words are
missing and the reader has to guess at what word
should be used.

By commercial crews they’ve hired
Hoping that some tourists 
Will be well-enough inspired.

Since I can’t fast-forward,
Every ad I’m forced to see,
Although the target audience
Is certainly not me.

Commercial Loss

On Friday a body very frail
And a face coldly pale,
Succeeding to every smile fail
Because of Last Tuesday’s poor sale…
As late as 11:00Pm a touching wail
Over the low-priced chiffon-bale,
To a buyer released for his smart tale.

And then the whines of a bruised tail
That could like a vessel set sail
And like one outlast a gale:

Commercial Beggers

They plead with us
manipulating
pain and hunger
between the segments
of broken merriment.
Beggars
paid big bucks
to raise funds
tearing at the tender
underbellies
tormenting the scorched souls
of the old and lonely.
Chastising us
in voices muted
by soft music
intimating that we
are all that is needed
to suture the wounds
of the world.
