Premium Membera terrific place to write

One caramel macchiato, a barista calls out
Two people rush to the counter
It has a name written on it,
One returns to her seat empty handed

I sit in the corner with my laptop, watching the show
Coffee shops are a terrific place to hide out and write
Cappuccino, mocha, latte, expresso, the barista calls
As people head to the counter my fingers begin to click

Is this a poem? -- I'd say so!
Near my home, convenient, clean
and comfy. Very low prices.
Varied delicious specials.
Slogans artistically painted
in strategically located spots --
poetic samples of our regional
colorful cuisine and culture:
"I like my cafecito with a little chisme"
(I like my coffee with a little gossip);
"Y la dieta?" (And the diet?)
and near the register, another:
"Hay que empezar el dia con
         HUEVOS,*
frijoles, chilaquiles, y cafe"
(You have to start the day with
         EGGS,
beans, chilaquiles, and coffee).
At the exit, beside the door:
"Si acabas de llegar bienvenidos,
y si ya se vas vuelve pronto"
(If you have just arrived welcome,
and if you are already going
come back soon!)
An important part of home.
At this location since 1984.
Friendly and familiar.
Puro poesia. Pure poetry.

*"con huevos", here has double meaning

The Coffee shop where you can,
Ease down into your,
Throne of freedom.
This brown elixir hoping to jumpstart,
Your brain as words will flow as if,
Coming out of the mouths of God's.
I need an out of this world idea,
That is earth shattering.
Every author knows this is the,
Portal to finding excellence and,
Searching for the muse,
That inspires them.
First the eyes that glance her way,
Like a magnet to your soul.
Then the smile inviting you,
Into her world.
Your heart flutters as your mind,
And body carries you to her table,
Then you realize standing in front,
Of you is the beauty you have,
Only dreamed about.
The undeniable Hello is exchanged,
As we are looking into each other's eyes.
What happens after that is totally,
Up to the laws of attraction.

A Beautiful Eyes In a Coffee Shop Steal My Heart

“Your brown eyes are like candlelight in the dark of the night.....
 Inside an archaeological library........
Do you see me looking at them as a historical clock?
And drowning within the gradations of time?...
 What’s time? And history?.......
 Only inside them.......
As a reader, I love to read the library of your eyes......
So do you see me, turn its pages book by book....
Or memorize the poems of spinning to recite them to your ears....
If the morning light came and candles went out....
Please someone would save me ......from drowning in the sea of their honey….
I feel like coffee that she gave me was an old wine ......
She was the daughter of October...was swinging at the beat of my heart...with her brown hair
And every time I look at your face it makes me wonder how he can carry all those beauty maps.....
And every time I looked at her smile...
I feel like I’m drowning.... someone save me....
please help me.... I forgot how to breathe!!.

“ In that beautiful coffee shop.....A beautiful eyes steal my heart...”

                                                                                            _ Bouchra Himer_

Coffee Shop For Thoughts

Coffee Shop For Thoughts

 Stop forcing your thoughts into my mind;
I have enough of my own in there.
 It’s not a coffee shop for thoughts from everyone;
I’m trying to keep my mind in line.

Daily your thoughts cloud up my mind’s sky
Where was sunshine, blueness, soft white clouds.
But, you want to turn it all gloomy with cold rain,
 Stormy winds and inclement weather.

Go and take your evil thoughts away.
Spread them where willing people care not
If they do right or they do wrong following you.
But, in my life I certainly care!

Coffee Shop Views

Coffee Shop Views

The lady near the door,
Sat quietly, as she tightly held her cup,

Her sad, knowing eyes,
Fixed upon a world,

A world way beyond the window,
In another place.

At her side, an elderly man,
Silently looking on,

Hardly a word was spoken.

And as I watched,
Guessing at their story,

The sun broke through,
The grey East London sky,

Illuminating like magic,
Our silent waiting faces.

We sat in quietness,
The sunlight playing tricks,

Dancing shapes across the floor,
Across our lives,

Was something missing,
Something Lost?

Emotions trapped in a place,
Too painful to be?

And to the comforting sounds,
Of that coffee shop,

We drank together,

And in this sacred space,
I longed for;

Springtime,
for sunlight,

For love;

For hope to lighten, our darker ways,
To open up closed skies,

And so we stared,
We stared into the distance;

To another place,
A place beyond the window,

Of our quite,
Little East London coffee shop.

Costa Lamento

Same old routine, same venue too
We join the queue, I order
Flat white for her with fern motif
Tan crema round the border
For me a capuccino, large
With sifted chocolate powder
Baristas all look younger now
The music slightly louder

We grab our favourite corner seat
Our meal, the usual fare
Two toasties filled with ham and cheese
A Chelsea bun to share
The great machine behind the counter
Clanks and slurps and hisses
And suddenly I recollect
Those first exciting kisses

Brunette has given way to grey
Her voice a little gentler
She takes my hand and thanks me for
The flowers that I sent her
Her smile, so sweet, improved with age
Her wise and loving eyes
Close tight before she takes a sip
Leans back a bit, and sighs

We laugh and talk the years away as if
Time was suspended
Why did I let her slip away
It's not what I intended
But too late now to make amends
However we construe it
We took a fatal turning and
We well and truly blew it

In the Kingdom By the Sea, My Pretty Becky

Off to Starbucks for my spot of Teavana Earl Grey Tea
I am Blessed! Princess Rebecca this morning, I do see
A quick gaze at her, oh my she looks even more sexy
In The Kingdom By The Sea, My Pretty Becky

I dream of sailing with her off the Shore of Jersey
We cruising with no destination, maybe Guernsey
We live a life of no worries and all carefree
In The Kingdom By The Sea, My Pretty Becky

I sit inside and sip my spot of tea
Reading the Times, thinking of My Becky
She too busy this morning to even gaze back at me
In The Kingdom By The Sea, My Pretty Becky

I dream one day we meet, I do foresee
I hope all goes well, a heavenly wish for me
A six foot tall Slavic princess, oh so slender and pretty
In The Kingdom By The Sea, My Pretty Becky

I still too nervous to say hello, I am so nerdy
Should I stop dreaming of what may be too good for me
Almost done sipping my daily Teavana Tea
In The Kingdom By The Sea, My Pretty Becky

I go back to street to jog back home, so fit is me
I feel sad lacking My Destiny Girl; feel so empty
I dream New Year's Eve with her at NYC's Marriott Marquis
In The Kingdom By The Sea, My Pretty Becky

they're in the work places
and stores downtown...
silent and quiet
blank faces
private
in groups...
they express
themselves all
freely the same
and...me not feeling
time stealing
from them
thought...
"aliens"...
the years have cleared
the unfamiliar scene
and now...i'm what had been all along...
alien...in an alien world...
now with access only to the relevant
universal intellect continuum
and this...'this invention' enables
craftsmen of the word
to furnish the world
with script and book
to read or cook...

Methinks my writings are now all for naught
In an unending spiral, I've suddenly been caught
Is it my armpit odor
Or just getting older
Must keep up with the latest gossip in the coffee shops

Coffee Shop Bias

men used facilities at Starbucks
but staff took an offence at their looks
policemen were called out
arrested without doubt
now staff being referred to guide book.

I met her in the coffee shop
She hid me from a violent cop
She didn't care if I'd been hooking
She gave that cop a sober look and
Said, "She ran out that back door"
While underneath the check-out stand
I curbed a giggle, touched her hand
And saw that copper nevermore.

For thirteen days and nights we played
We laughed and sighed, no promise made
Not one moment were we apart
I loved her dearly from the start
Now I sit alone with mocha
And a side of almond roca
Our final meal: rice with veggie taco
Then she left forever for Morocco.

This poem I regard as a failure. It's odd it took me several months of periodic tinkering looking for the perfect words and scans that would rescue it from clunkiness. I think the last line is perfect for this poem, but leading up to it are so many little bad choices for which I could not find better. But I'm giving up, and sharing it as-is, as after all that work on it I hate to just throw it away.

Coffee Shop and Curtain Calls

Coffee Shop Casting Calls

Lookin’ at…and then away…
Looks at the coffee shop
Stealing glances,
Making judgements
creating scenarios
Every day

A sip of coffee
A quick look about
A quick appraisal
A quick casting call
Actors in place
And the play begins

The lady in blue
sitting next to you
Ex-trapeze artist for sure
The man in the corner
Back to the wall
Has all the earmarks
Of a hitman...waiting

And that silver haired lady
sipping her hazelnut latte
Is there a bodyguard waiting
by an idling Rolls outside
And that shifty-eyed guy
nibbling on a sugar cookie
Is he the trapeze artist’s
stalker...or ex-husband

Damn! just as I started to call out
Places everyone...The play is begun
I run out of my refilled senior coffee
And `rise reluctantly..to leave
Exiting with everyone
Stealing furtive glances at me
Looking at me
Then quickly away

Starship Coffee Shop

Passengers in the Starship Coffee Shop

Each seated in their alloted place.

     Every table a local perturbation

In the fabric of time and space

     In relative isolation the travellers

     Move silently through hyperspace.

Each hand held cell phone a universe,

A worm hole to another place.

Premium MemberThe Guy At the Coffee Shop

At the coffee shop
I go there every day
I go there often
There I sit alone
Having my coffee

It is here I see
You sitting alone
With your gadget
Having your coffee

I was sitting near
You did not see me
My heart skipped a beat
I thought you heard
You were not aware

That I was near
As I sat with my coffee
I pondered my thoughts
What it would be like
To get to know you
