The Play Was a Dismal Flop

The play was a dismal flop
She went to a coffee shop
She saw the villain
In act of killin'
Scrumming in the room nonstop

The Islands Are Not Lonely

now,
(my) collection of poems
library
on the bookshelf
coming out
in backpack bag
at the coffee shop
into back trouser pocket,
I'm going to meet you.

Coffee Shop Bias

men used facilities at Starbucks
but staff took an offence at their looks
policemen were called out
arrested without doubt
now staff being referred to guide book.

Cynosure

Amber eyes bewitched
Young gentleman in the street
Deciding to ask
The lady if she accepts
To speak in the coffee shop

If I Were

If I were an English mum
I'd roll my baby in the pram
To the Costa Coffee Shop
Even in the rain

If I were an English dad
I'd wave them off with glee
Hop into my sports car
And date my secretary!

Teardrops And Coffee-Stains

At
the bottom
of every corner store
and coffee shop mug,

there is a collection of
teardrops and coffee-stains.

Waiting
to be gathered
so they can write
their stories in indelible
ink.

Cappuccino

Frothy coffee looks so good,
While flat coffee looks so bare,
I love my cappuccino,
Two sugars stirred with care.

I have a special seat
In my local Coffee Shop,
It makes me feel so relaxed
When I hear those two cubes drop.

Went to my favorite coffee shop, ordered a capaburro Told me they don't serve donkeys to over-aged burritos Did I mean a cappuccino? Hey you need your ears clean-ooed Next visit, wanna be served by a different comanchero

Words of the Poet

The poet is in the coffee shop,
jotting down words,
The words of the poet,
so surreal, so honest,
Words of the poet,
are read by many,
standing up on a stage,
speaking words into the microphone,
drawing the audience in,
the words of the poet...

Coffee Shop Gossip

Methinks my writings are now all for naught In an unending spiral, I've suddenly been caught Is it my armpit odor Or just getting older Must keep up with the latest gossip in the coffee shops

Amsterdam

Right out side the coffee shop,
   Below St. Peter's hands
      The purveyors of indulgences
   Have set up little stands

And should some half-waked baker
Come and stir about the pot
       The double-arched McDiocese
   Would (likely) thank me not.

The Coffee Shop

As the sun breaks upon the horizon
they open the doors
and soon it starts to fill.
Farmers, hunters, and every day people
fill the seats as the waitress pours.
Some share their stories
others tell rumors .
All here for a cup of coffee
and a hot breakfast.

Just a Latte

Sitting in the coffee shop
I am drawn by your beauty
Inspired
Touched
I sit and stare
Get lost in the glare
I lose myself
I take it all in
Losing myself to a dark sin
Mystical and dreaming
Dark and steaming
A man I could sink into
A good book
Yeah thats what I was thinking.

A Narrow Escape In the Coffee Shop

In the coffee shop
A mistimed twist
By the barista
Caused a hissing
Coffee jet to
Ballista towards
My sister and I
Worried it would
Hit her wrist and
Give her a blister,
But fortunately
It missed her.

The manager scolded
The ham-fisted barista,
But since no-one was scalded,
He didn’t dismiss her.

Moving Up To Go Down

I am slowly finding recovery is a penrose staircase
I climb, I step, and I see you on my walk to the coffee shop
you wore jeans and a black T-shirt you looked at me like your
very existence should be an apology and suddenly
I am at the bottom of the staircase
Climbing, stepping, climbing, stepping…

Writing Poetry In a Coffee Shop

Writing Poetry In A Coffee Shop

In the corner of a coffee shop I know,
The sharp aroma of coffee fills the air.
Among lowered voices subtle rhythms flow,
Poetry in the cadence of voices there,
Finding rhymes from vibrations in the air.

Man In Coffee Shop

A man came into the coffee shop
He sat there all alone
Ordered just a cup of joe
He had no telephone
He seemed content and even nice
But had not one electronic device
No computer or Laptop or even a book
I think he might be some sort of crook
Clearly he’s creepy or maybe a rat
Because after all, who does that?

The Mirth

As they talked,
Emitting rambling laughter
Of subjects unknown
Silly
Light hearted actions
In forums
Of fun-filled and hearty
Leisurely chuckling
In the middle of the coffee shop
In a town not so unknown
A nonchalant indifference
To ones surroundings
A welcome,
To others in the coffee shop
To join in the mirth.

May

Till our sun falls from the sky

The weather was frigid or she was,
reminiscing daydreams convulsed May.
Gray Dodge Omni parents backyard,
baseball players in a hotel room.

Graduate weed university age 16,
Stoned in the coffee shop,
high at the state speech tournament,
Ginsberg foggy and oblique,
country music radios.
