Premium Member ROOM FOR RENT

Too small,
for two of us.
Wanting to run away,
I was reluctant to stay here.
Our pay checks did not reach far in those days,
I had a place to rest my head.
Needed more rent money,
please rain dollars.
Too small.

The demons always come at night
but oft, they dwell, until the dawn
or stay the day without invite;
“till one of us first moves the pawn.

Premium Member maybe they are here for a camp check up

girl and her daddy are in the doctor’s waiting room
neither of them appears to be sick
she looks especially well.
Her eyes are bright, and she is moving around like a bubble
She smiles at me and waves.
I wave back, glad to see her.
Maybe they are here for a camp check-up?
She turns and regurgitates all over the seat.
Her father takes his time noticing.
He has been looking at his phone.

(apropos of baited political hooks)

being schooled
can keep you
book hooked
but being learned
can hook
you up
to a free mind…

schools of fish
are fooled
by baited hooks
enticing and teasing
with exotic scents
on swaying lines…

retrospectively,
whether you agree
or not with me
old-schooled dogs
can be taught
and learn
new school tricks…

curiously
just check out
today’s streamed
teasing red-baited
political hooks…

reality check

i look in the mirror
but i don’t see me
i see a clearer version
of someone people want me to be

i view them as fake
while im the one trying to take
their son by
dressing different
acting different
just so i can be liked

while, in reality—
do i even like myself?
if i’m doing all this
just to get a goodnight kiss
is my soulmate truly in me
do i need to love myself first?
do i need a reality check.

Last check before the parrot was taken outside

I forgot to add tomatoes to
the beef.
And I was told to put a 1/2
Of white grape juice in the
Broth with an additional
3 T of crown royal
and to omit the horseradish.
We added one teaspoon of
Anchovies oil to the mayo
and crumbled in some sun
dried tomatoes.
That should be the show!
Sweet banana peppers to
do the thang!

Premium Member Love is like a Bounced Check

Brown face is a strainer for tears
Like lace they fall poetic to all
A ribbon of red bloody fears
You still call but I no longer talk

What occurred is reality set in
I’m no longer your prisoner
No longer your passionate sin
No longer your world to live in

I see your smile and see denial
You only loved the idea of me
But not enough to make me queen
Not enough to share my dream

I wanted simple things a true embrace
Remembrance of special occasions
To be loved in a safe place
But you could never be so clever

I’d never ask you to cherry change
You are who you are even if pains
Not your fault I was so in love with love
That lightening struck out of luck
And love wasn’t enough

It’s not enough when it’s just a cliché
You cut me out like cardboard heart
For a public masquerade
You only see my figure and my face
You misread my spirit my soul my faith

You don’t see me you don’t read me
You don’t breathe me you don’t feed me
You don’t need me the same way I need you

Trust Check

Trust implies openness
Mutual decency and honesty.
Trust is obligatory in friendship
Or romantic relationship.
Trust is based on agreement
Clear meaning of message.
Trust is core in life.
I trust you. I trust myself.
Trust is risk taker
Justify danger, warn vulnerability
Support emotional crisis.

Reality Check

What could I offer to you anyway?
Even if some day there'd be a someday
I'm watching myself getting more and more gray
Older by 14 years, 48 days
We'd have some good years then a burden I'd be
And you'd have to bear it since you married me
The more that I think it, the more that I see
I should give up this dream and let you be free

Reality Check

Midnight
I dream awake
Imagination bounds
Drifting, free of mundane confines-
Jolted

Because the USA is still run by misogynist men
and jealous women who have not accomplished anything in their lifetime

what is the way we look at other forms
do we feel God’s presence in each soul
or is gender, colour or age the yardstick
have we imbibed agape love scriptures extol

REALITY CHECK

Aesthetic expectations, quomodocunquize,
An exasperating farrago of marketing lies,
Conning client desires,
While promising celestial skies.

In the "Selfie Era," so condescending,
Filters sculpting phantasmagoria, never-ending—
Painting a majestic illusion,
Regality of beauty, a fleeting delusion.

"Ageless," a dream that transcends all streams,
Flustering the mind’s membranes, it seems;
Cajoling artists, ripping through pockets,
A glamour tornado that ceaselessly rockets.

Embrace imperfections with pride,
Challenging the conventional tide.
Luminance flows from deep within,
"Mirror, Mirror, let self reflection begin".
