my husband gets an early check in

I have never heard of an early check in time like this one
We arrived at the hotel at ten thirty a.m.
Check in time is four p.m.
My husband was standing at the front desk
An older lady was making keys for him
I have never heard of anyone checking in at ten-thirty before.
This was a first.
He told me he said he would pay extra.
We were able to slide into the only room already cleaned for the day.
We had to pay a resort fee of fourteen dollars.
