Premium MemberNo Cap

No cap, that's how I roll
My story, totally whole
No faking a single part,
Just open; an honest heart

My spirit shines bright,
A natural, easy light
Words flow, a friendly stream,
Living out my best dream

Connections bloom,
Chasing away all gloom
A good vibe I share,
With rizz in the air

No ceiling above,
Just freedom, full of love
I live with no cap, you see,
The real, the happy, the me

Manners Maketh Man

The premise goes everyone knows
before entering the premises
while still outside yet on the mat
it's no gentleman who forgets
to doff his cap or remove his hat
if dining out or at a private party
for a particular person
it's impolite at most
to sip slurp or slink a drink
before the toast to a hospitable host
and when beside the table laden
confronted by the salsa bowl
biting then re-dipping chips
the most unmannerly of all
is he (or she) who double-dips

Words: Use the following words in a poem. Pretzels, shout, threshold, pine, now, sulfur, ladybug, percolate, cap and lamp

Let’s give a shout out
to the one who eats hot
salty soft pretzels.

Who holds a pine scented
lamp that sputters and flares
in the darkest night.

While they watch gooey
black tar percolate from
the bowls of the earth.

A cautious ladybug creeps
across the felt cap of
 of the pretzel eater.

Now is the time to swat
the nefarious ladybug
as she steels across their cap.

Smack! The ladybug is
no more as a sudden soft scent
of sulfur permeates the air.

Premium MemberWould You, Little Red-Cap?

Little Red-Cap, I can see
no wolf would ever bother thee.
You'd not buy the masquerade
of his best laid plans, misplayed.
As I'm not the lupine brand,
would you gently take my hand?

Premium MemberCap A Pie

Cap a pie, steady as she goes,
walk tighter than a dollar bill;
When life’s banana peel arose?
Cap a pie, steady as she goes;
Shuddery prose she will compose,
Jenga tower of dreams, be still!
Cap a pie, steady as she goes,
walk tighter than a dollar bill.

Is it pandering?
Will camo hat with name do them any good?
Next will be the dead deer draped across the hood.

I just thought of something stupid. Deer can't read.

Sunday Thinking Cap

I wore my thoughts on my head like a ball cap today

Ready to take off and disregard

or to turn around, tilted in the opposite direction

Easy to grab at, to throw away, to steal,

to sneakily hide a lost trinket underneath.

I am unbalanced like a scale

trying to measure dancers

as they prance about unwavering to any schedule or song.

I am a thrash of discombobulated noises and symphonies,

never harmonizing quite right but still quite beautifully

Imperfect.

I wore my heart in my hair today, let it ruffle in the wind

allowed the speed of an old beat up car roar its engines

like it was reliving her glory days

and I was alive again.

I hung my past up on the clotheslines in my backyard to dry out,

but it rained and that seems to be the story of my life.

At the end of the day

my thoughts are all but worn out completely

ready to be chucked away like a sweat drenched Sunday thinking cap.

Yea, I'll say,
My crown wore a dream:
That, someday,
I'd be found as king;

Preparing to cater,
In sympathy,
Let each waiter,
Be friends with me –

Premium MemberBottle Cap In the Sand

Bottle cap in the sand.
forsaken barren beach.
Towel colors once grand
diminished by sun’s bleach.

Tropical paradise
long left barren by man.
Hurricane a surprise,
deserted without plan.

Collapsed plastic beach balls
strewn among the seaweeds.
Once bright the eye recalls,
but now the sight recedes.

Hibiscus trees deflexed,
entwined with pale, pinched palms.
Verdant life springs forth vexed.
The damaged, begging alms.

Flora and fauna rise;
slow repristination.
Beach in rousing reprise,
resplendent salvation.

Utopia restored;
Nature’s tacit accord.

The Gardner With the Army Cap

Across my street with sidewalks
shaded by fluttering oak trees,
there's a gardener with the army cap...
while rascals laugh and play nasty rap;
how well tends to his garden without weeds,
how glad he is when neighbors clap,
and he works serenely in this noiseless haven!
Then, Sterlings with colorful wings swap down
to steal his lavenders, he chases them away
with a voice that frightens playful squirrels:
" Leave them alone, let the buzzing bees
turn their mild nectar into sweet honey! "

In the middle of April he wears old camouflaged shorts,
he's amused by a passerby who flashes admiring looks;
" Good morning, Pete: your garden is too pretty! "
" Thank you, John: it makes me proud and happy! "

Each charming flower in his garden has a beauty of its own,
"Ah, youth is a beautiful flower but withers with time! "
He exclaims shedding tears that sunlight makes sparkle,
he has lived a full life and his adventurous days darkle,
and finding something to do boosts his esteem, he feels fine;
do regrets ever embitter him remembering his wife Sharon?

Premium MemberLamb Loved Her New Swim Cap

It is not that Lamb did not like her new flowered swim cap.
She loved it, and it fit her, making her feel snappity snap.
But the rest of the lambs were bleating about it in mean ways.
Don’t worry, said her friend Lucy, it gives your face a raise!

It is chic and sleek, and the petals are engraved just right.
To me, when you wear it, you are kind of “out of sight”.
So with confidence Lamb wore her new cap to swim.
It gave her a jazzy feeling, increasing her prancy dancy vim.

Polycarp and Baseball Cap

I've just spoken with Polycarp
About his bright red baseball cap
I'd swear is his main handicap:
His wish to keep wearing the cap
While to Tennis Ball he is Pap
And equally does football 'tap';
His donning of a baseball cap
A conflict and misguiding map
You rely on and your strength sap,
Because of the capital gap
Between him and a baseball cap...

Game he'd lose to to who's had a nap
Or just finished singing a rap
And with avid fans had a snap...

The whole wished drama a self trap
For tennis games not receive call,
Among footballers not grow tall.

With My Black Cap I Become the Apex

Reaching for the stars
My enemies were tired of me winning
Now they can’t smile at me so
They try to keep me a mile away
They want to spin my life in another direction
But this is hilarious
Because I am victorious through all the deceit!

They counted me out of the equation
But with my mathematical skills
I multiplied and divided the real from the fake
I took the seal of precision and
Took the decision to stand against my enemies!
In secret, they were heartless with their words
But I have no time to mince my words
So I took the essence of poetry and rinsed myself off
Remembering that they counted me out but
With my black cap, I become the apex
Reaching for the stars going beyond the galaxy!
