Premium MemberCupid’s Canopy Over Silent Sonnets

Written: July 06, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Craig Cornish

                     *****************

My path was unkempt, with cracked and bent signs
The once-azure sky turned gray, and my muse faded
Cursed seraphs hovered under lifeless skies, weeping.

In the mahonia mist of nestled truths and lost couplets in periwinkle poetry

I shoved in a cacophonous frenzy, confused—
Vade mecum was fetid with an epiphany of deceit
Silence echoed dread, and each scab was a guess

Iridescent smears of fervent deceit,
and Cupid's canopy engulfed the cetacean sonnets
A mocking wind bade shattering moans,
having learned to flaunt their tethered words
With my russet roots, I'm not a flashy flower,
but, I felt awful pain from distant love acronyms.

What if the cloudburst refrain bears no scars?
Or phosphene verses adorned with blue poppies,
might leave glowing traces on midnight shores?
I walked for miles to find that starting stanza.

Yet, despite such raucous, cataclysmic pain,
An earthquake faltered the stratus sky—
Not all who veer from the path must shatter
Obsessed, some must comply with the jostle of life.

Premium MemberThe universe disappeared

Within our heart, a fierce fire raged,
a burning yearning to be free
from our mind, where we were caged,
that soul may dwell on earth carefree.

We knew there’s more to us than this,
striving being of no avail,
so in darkness of fear’s abyss,
we chose all thought forms to derail.

We shut mind’s door yet ego knocked,
begging our soul to be let in
but we were then in bliss mists docked,
deaf to mind’s cacophonous din.

We saw our Self as living light,
heart joyous in drunken delight.

Premium MemberSilence Listens

and then...the wind swept
over the field like a whisper
that can be heard but ~
  never understood

like forgotten dreams
the second we awake ~
were they quiet while we slept,
or a cacophonous frenzy
in which silence is noisy words
which translate to nothings?

we're better forgetting them anyway
lest...they trouble our day
like a barking dog through a picket fence,
yet, when we look, it's all not there ~
all that's left are windswept fields where
whispers are only ~ imagined?

Premium MemberSilence Listens

Throughout all the unyielding, cacophonous clamour,
Within the intricacies of intersecting timelines,
Overwhelmingly gnawing inside even the most remote labyrinths of your mind,
Silence listens to every rapid thrash of a trepidatious heart,
Adheres to the wheezing forced from infolding lungs,
Travels from one neuron to another,
Always looking for a pathway to calm your inner demons.
But in spite of all its longings to fix the trauma-laced flames licking your soul,
Its dreams are continuously unsuccessful,
As it paradoxically gets drowned by all the nightmarish noise.

Premium Memberdance with the devil

like a miserable cockroach he wriggled
through wreckage in the sump of his life
bottle in hand and at delirious mouth
in a macabre rehearsal of final strides

what had once been a passionate waltz
had become a legless inebriated pirouette
moribund madness personified
liquified insanity stumbling to hell
with wings of destruction in overdrive

it was a sink hole leap towards the abyss
each jump digging deeper and faster
into the rock bottom of body mind and soul

eventually all music and heart stopped
yet he remembered cacophonous decrescendo
enough to wake up from self-inflicted catatonia

like a phoenix and still tarred and feathered by booze
he decided to rise again whatever the cost

the rest is a miracle and sober blessing and still
he knows that Icarus had pinions of wax
therefore he stayed close to new foundations
of hard-won truths and the reality of his privilege

unable to identify
with cacophonous din
caused by stuporous minds
we take shelter in silence
aglow with light of God

perhaps it is escapism
as we search for rainbows
yet to manifest in the blue sky
which are already created
in the cave of our heart

tonight …I’ll romance scented silence
as dusk kisses the heart of harlequin horizon~
dripping memories ~ in cacophonous clemency…
but to feel the finesse flames of love,
illuminating the trembling tip of a sizzling skyline,
   I’ll draw a smoky stairway to the stars;
an ambience of garnet granules… shifting, in crooning colors…
for between the rising sighs of the sun
   and the setting eyes of the moon ~ farewells float;
like ineffable verses frozen in timeless rhythm..
I ponder, is the sky a gloaming mirror of eternal footprints,
unveiling hallelujahs of heartbeats in heaven?
as I still hear your song, paused on repeat, in our favorite chorus…

   ~ perhaps I am a word dreamer ~
     saturated in weeping winds;
        trembling from poetic fever
          jolted by twilight tremors
  bursting forth acrylic dews
               in pigments of pensive blue…

In My Mansion

Come inside, my child.
I see it's been rough outside lately.
But I have a place of refuge,
And it's here, but only if you choose.
Will you come inside?
Will you surrender and confide?
Away from the cacophonous sounds,
Do come inside, where peace and clarity abound.
Inside, away from winter's cold,
Come in, my child; I have warmth for your soul.
Come inside out of the rain,
I have clean towels to dry the tears of your pain.
The door to peace, love, and strength is open.
Lay down all cares and burdens and find rest inside my mansion.

A blanket of turquoise and sapphire blue;
cacophonous gray and white plumage sail.
Skimming along the sea’s light foamy hue;
a blanket of turquoise and sapphire blue.
Beauty in flight, soaring the sky’s vast view;
they flock together on a grander scale.
A blanket of turquoise and sapphire blue;
cacophonous gray and white plumage sail.

A blanket of turquoise and sapphire blue;
skimming along the sea’s light foamy hue.
Beauty in flight, soaring the sky’s vast view;
they flock together on a grander scale.
Cacophonous gray and white plumage sail;
ascending high on a heavenly trail.

Premium MemberHo Hum’s Quadrant

Quiet quibbles with silence and hushed wind’s quackery.
Have nonsensical need for an ice cold daiquiri.

Chicanery of leafy season, coursing slowly,
before its blustery countermand uplifts wholly.

Monotonous quarrel needs a quaff of arctic air,
an unquestioning brisk of maple burning its flare,

Like brandy, in quiescent afterglow’s flirtation,
ho hum’s quadrant equips me for intoxication.

I’ll not be a crone, with quaking bones, beneath a pad
of sunset quilt. I’ll be cold. I’ll brave it. I’ll go mad

with cacophonous joy, kick the crispy depth of leaves.
Removal of sequacious grin. Broad smile Fall retrieves.

Collaborations Details

Most often she was sisu, and otimistic.
He didn't want to understand her confusion
it caused him to lack confidence
Fickle minded and full of
optimism he wanted her to get to the part
of her decision making process where
she would be full of regret and sorry for
not making the deal. Being fair he saw her frustration
and knew what she meant by not believing
something would coor could come along
and unravel the affordability of the
Magincent object.
Then elucidation made clear what was to be done
clear minded and full of confidence she made
the decision to acquire.
Cacophonous sounds are often the fusses
of complication:where all functioning factors
aren't assigned their roles.
She was amazingly impressed. They sought equipment
to go into full production.
Knowing no demographic could measure their
doings , and only the first sales to the time of measurement
could predict the pace and scope that details
their companies exsistance.

Cryin' Lion

Alone!

Big Cat is trapped inside a cage.
With every passing hour, up goes its rage

Deeper is its growl,
And more menacing is its scowl

The fight is strong as it yearns to be free
Far, far away from this shameful place of captivity

Out of this place
Out from gloom and disgrace

The beast scratches and claws incessantly, but to no avail
Distant ephemeral reflections of a savanna, its sullen heart longs to bail

A king of valor relegated to a diminutive, cold space
No grasslands for play and no prey to hunt; trapped in a foreign place

Soon the cacophonous growl wanes into a feeble murmur
The beastly, commanding sound has lost its ferocious fervor

Bewildered, weary, and defeated, it starts cryin'
No place to roam and far from home, in the cage lies the lion

Premium MemberAll thoughts are ego begot

Our sin, cacophonous thought din
Oh hermit, when will we begin
In silence, choosing to be still
Feeling God’s love and light within

Simply by surrendering will
Bliss mists rise and voids in heart fill
There’s no doing we need to do
Faith makes easy ascent uphill

Each hue of life throbs felt is new
We fall, we rise, pristine like dew
Knowing this dream life will not last
We delight as bliss beats renew

The breath of God is soul’s repast
Wide and far net of love is cast
Our eye mindful and touched gentle
We dwell in the vibrant void vast

Premium MemberAversion to toxicity

The cacophonous din of troubled minds,
intrudes rudely into our sacred space
and momentarily tranquil eye blinds,
although we soon recover, by God’s grace,
choosing to release the toxic embrace.
Perhaps the immersion is but a test,
brought forth by the universe in light jest
but be that as it may, we soon restore
vibrance of presence, which is by God blessed,
for we ride the boat, He Himself does oar.
