I just watched the olympic opening ceremony
from Paris.
It was sad to see how the stadium booed
the American team and vice President.

(NBC muted that for you sensitive Americans).

Let’s wax poetic - wax on..

They celebrate our country's wreck,
the beggary of brats who delight
in the cheap satisfaction of ignorance
and take their oath to the corrupt king

despite the felon’s many malicious
practises against the state

oppression feeds upon such souls

They delight in his
blunt and graceless style
and churlish superscriptions
that alter every hallowed surface

What fool forsakes friendship,
respect and alliances for enmity?

They could not be the base slaves of
a meaner party - for is there a serpent
with less good will?

wax off..

A song for this:
Auld Lang Syne by Susan Boyle

Premium Member Connaught - county hokum

  seductive Galway gal would not stay
  such savage beauty she went astray
  whether Corrib, whether Mask
  Connemara man to ask
  to Inishbofin she played away

  Leitrim lout took drink by the flagon
  very short coast, very short wagon
  went inland to buy a boat
  all-aboard, beer for his goat
  so raised a glass, Carrick-on-Shannon

  wild west playboy from county Mayo
  did for his dad, very own say so
  holy mountain, dreaming star
  left the pub at Castlebar
  shoe hanging out his Ford Mondeo

  Roscommon culchie, gangly and rare
  hung out near Boyle with spindly long hair
  web below her knobbly knee
  bank to bank across lough Ree
  wrapped up her men, eight legs in the air

  our Sligo boy, no good at countin'
  he spied some girls down by the fountain
  one, two, three, how many more?
  his favourite to adore
  he chased her up Benbulben mountain

Premium Member While You Were Sleeping

There are only two movies I watch more than once a year.
While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock is one of them.
Sure, I love her. But I love Bill Pullman too and Peter Boyle.
You know how sometimes you want to recast a movie?

This is not one of those. Each person was cast perfectly.
They are comedians, their timing is exquisitely done.
They are lovable, except Peter and Ashley, but they are great
Because they are supposed to be pompous, staid, stuck-up.

Every time I watch I am cheering for the heroes to get together.
Even Joe Junior, the landlord’s son, has a loveable side to him.
Glynis Johns is perfect, and it is great to see her again.
But the plot, oh, my, it is hilariously funny! So terrific.

I sit on the edge of my seat, chomping down popcorn
At an unnatural rate, cheering them on, dying for the ending.
When Lucy says “I fell in love with you,” and Peter Boyle says
“You fell in love with me?” my heart swells every single time.

This is a die-and-go-to-Venice movie. I highly recommend it.
If you want to grin for the rest of the night, watch this one.

Premium Member Wings of the Lamb--

Freedom of space in time
Left with only sadness
I only have vibes for gladness
trapped in the world of madness
slavery got me behind
the wings of the lamb
if I helped you along
don't thank me for my kindness
just join me in this song
Our only cure for blindness
Take me from this fine mess
On the wings of the land
Don't play with the universe
It's Only Fools who chant and curse
The black magic of the willow leaves
Leaves us with only bitter animosity
If I helped you along
Don't thank me for my kindness
Just join me in this song
Our only cure for blindness
Take me from this fine mess
On the wings of the Lamb
Bitter so much better
My love for you is greater
Greater than all the world
Watch for love flowing out of my life
Elastic circles say are hard to find
Silken painted pictures of love that's mind
 Asurion to you my chosen enclosed Valentine
Surrounded and drenched in love
Found in the wings of the lamb

Premium Member What Cha Gonna Do When the Duck Mole Comes For You-

Somethings gonna get you;
somethin' got it's eye on you;
Open and shutting mouth
What's a beak gonna do;
Chew you up and down;
Peck you on your sunburn arm;
Spit in your eyes;
Scratch your thigh;
Why, Oh why;
It's crawling out you onto your lips;
A fever blister bout to bust;
It's licking at your eyes;
In tears of pain you cry;
My, my, my...
Why, why, why...
what's cha gonna do when the Duck-mole comes for you;
You don't think it's true, don't blink;
what's cha gonna do when the Duck-mole comes for you;

Freedom a space in time;
Left, with only sadness;
I only have vibes;
For happiness ever after;
Trapped in a world of madness;

The wings of the lamb;
If I help you along;
Don't thank me for my kindness;
Just join me in the song;
Take me from this fine mess;
Applaud me in my cleverness;

Premium Member This Room Outside In- -

I'm all alone in a room;
Nobody here;
So I remove myself from my chair;
Walk down the hall to the stairs;
Somebody took my house;
And made it inside out;
Now to cut the grass I have to do it under the bathroom steps;
Honeybees and fireflies;
Light up the place where once was my living room lies;
As a matter of fact;
It only takes four bricks;
To make a wall so big;
That it will furbish, furors and funk all the kids;
So don't pet the cat, or I'll kiss you with my bat;
You can't use that purr-fume that way;
Purina have to be fed everyday;
So little kids please come here;
Snickers, by far, will make any child crawl;
Then Baby Ruth just a sweet brute;
I know what I'd say;
I used to eat Milky way;
So kids please stay off the grass;
It'll be a matter of time when you'll have a house like mind;
This Room outside Inn;

Premium Member Honey Baby Come On In- -

I’m gonna write me a rock song;
But it won’t be in the top ten ya;
Something’s that is gonna make it through Billboards top 10 though;
If country music western is your thing;
Ah, then honey come on in (and)
The music is fine;
Gonna walk, rock the musical line now
It’s going with a bullet;
So hold on to your hat;
Gonna like put a dose of turpentine on the hind end of a cat;
So it’s country music western is your thing;
Ah, then honey come on in
Come on honey baby, come on in

More Reflections On Being Ninety

MORE REFLECTIONS ON BEING NINETY

Another decade has passed me by
Ninety years have flown and I wonder why
God leaves me here, as cherished friends
Fall ill and die.

So many memories cloud my mind
Each passing year I seem to find
More empty chairs friends left behind
Less Birthday cards to sign

I have never achieved lasting fame
The world does not even know my name
But through the years, within my brain
Though youth has flown…I feel the same!

Don’t waste time mourning the past
The bird of youth wasn’t meant to last
Each phase of life brings its own reward
Embrace this stage, you won’t be bored.

The Winter of life, unlike early Spring
Rife with wondering what Life will bring
Knows the legacy of LOVE they left Family and Friends
Is what really matters when this life ends!

Cancer

Cancer
                                      By Lynn Boyle 1956-2014

Cancer is a monster
it has taken my

            Mind

            Beauty

            Joy

            Pleasure

            Trust

It has seared my skin off my body

It has broken my spirit

It has destroyed my hope for any future

It has taken my identity

My independence

And left me

Premium Member Say It Ain'T So Joni

Both Sides Now was
big for you,
its simple lyrics
and deep hooks
with clean bright
guitar
went straight to my
heart.

And I know every
song
has its covers
I even liked some of
them
Judy Collins did it
well
It helped Susan
Boyle show
she had Talent.

But your 2000
version
and this maymariana1
mix
with its dirgelike
pace,
syrupy violins
and over the top
orchestration
reduce it to
elevator music.

Please excuse me
while I
pop in my ear buds
and listen to the
original.
