Folks who make life out of Vetch,
For their farms heading on ketch,
Their future they sometimes sketch;
None thinks he’s the truest wretch,
For labor does some hope fetch,
Though, Vetch would their choosers stretch…
Now, Hot Debates in the ketch!
“I can with Vetch accounts stretch,
Farther move from being a wretch.”
“But in Gold some their names etch
And Vetch can’t such nice dreams sketch”
“No! Vetch can the Big Name fetch
Quit the wretch that makes one retch”
So, say no more against Vetch…
Please, fancy not stone field:
It assures none crop yield.
From death won't one shield,
When guns one's killers wield...
Only a big name yield:
"A Landlord" owners wield
And causeless questions field
From the press that lands shield!
Then, choose between crop yield
And mere names that lands wield:
From those of a stone field
I shan't fail to self shield
He took his leave of this world
with the truth on his lips
while soaking in that warm bath in Paris
where he had flown to pursue a new path
having been forced to publish his poetry himself
because that sort of thing doesn’t rake in the big bucks
For all their smarm and ego stroking
those suave men in designer suits and silk ties
stop caring about you
(they never really did)
when you’re no longer bringing home the bacon to fry
greasing their bottomless pockets
by catering to popular taste even if it's tripe
(as it usually is)
turning their attention to the next big name
when you tire of the game
and let it go to watch the wheels spin like Lennon
Poets aren’t appreciated until after they’re dead
Maybe it’s the romantic mystery of not being able to ask
what they meant by a certain sonnet or a single line
searching for clues in fragmented stories of a life
that no one gave a damn about before they
breathed their last
like mine
He was born on a cotton plantation in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
Among rhythm and blues guitarists, he was the best there could be.
Riley B. King came into the world in 1925.
Entertaining as an R & B guitarist, his career would thrive.
While working at a radio station in Memphis, Tennessee,
he earned the nickname "Blues Boy", which was shortened to "BB".
Playing his Gibson guitar named "Lucille", he earned his reputation.
Coming his way were many an award and commendation.
Yes, he was a talented big name entertainer in his day.
Sadly, in 2015 at the age of eighty-nine, he passed away.
I thank wikipedia.org for valuable information I obtained to write this poem
Lockdown
They plan for it
For my own good
Lockdown
Hand on the handle
Key turning
Lockdown
Scent of that woman
“Layla” in my ears
Lockdown
Closing of the door
Such a sad sound
Lockdown
Somewhere between heaven and hell
Knees creaking
Lockdown
Can’t lie
Play the blues for me
Lockdown
Can’t come over
Don’t need a big name
Lockdown
Just play the blues
The thrill isn’t gone
Multiplying Hats
I had thin hair upon my head;
I bought a little hat,
Ordered from an on line shop
But then what did I get?
The little hat was too dressy to
Wear to the grocery store,
But it was cute, so I kept it,
Ordered me one more.
Now “one more” came and I liked it,
I wore it right away,
I’ll get it in other colors,
And make them my “main stays.”
And then, when I made a place in the closet,
There was an old one there, like new,
I liked it better than all the rest,
So hats I’ve got a few.
Oh, it was straw and has a big name,
It flops and I feel so glamorous,
What was old is new again,
It might must make me amorous.
A heavy quietness hung
as I waited with Mum and Dad
and Chloe.
I professed my sympathy,
my sorrow.
Their response was emptiness
unexpressed;
while Chloe, hugged
her teddy.
It seemed a long time
till the Midwife came
with the basket;
precious;
laid upon the bed.
Quietly she folded back the cover
and there
was Alexander;
a big name for a tiny form,
dark red,
almost black,
and lifeless.
The simple prayer I said,
dropped
words of faith that sank,
into the abyss.
Chloe peered
over the edge;
“Isn't he beautiful?
He has two eyes, a nose and a mouth.”
Shoulders heaved,
tears flowed,
washing the darkness of the form
we saw.
With Chloe we saw.
If you know your history you know that the black achiever is one,
Step down from the NAACP for youth student in high school,
My mom said now a days they are doing remarkable things,
At the time I was there we did not have a local president for our club,
In 2007 the regional summon for North Carolina was just starting,
And I met student that was Black and Latino going off to major,
University at the time I was unsure of which college to go to,
And only one major University that was going accept due to fall,
Sick in High School I did not want to go to the ceremony which,
Was some big name corporation representing that day,
I won both outstanding member local and at the summon,
And when I did not wanna go the director call and told me,
They was going give me scholarship for community college,
Later in life I just happen to went to College.
Out in California
I set up my little pizza place
that was shaped like a small tower,
while the other big name
pizza place giants,
moved in on my business
and had a lot more power,
their pizzas were made as
if on an assembly line
with little garlic and
hardly any toppings,
while with my pizza I took
a little longer to make,
all hand made crust
and a sauce that was to die for,
they used all kinds of different
ads and slogans to get more customers,
while alls I had was an electric sign
that blinked on and off "were open,"
then one day as fate would have it,
there was a moderate earthquake,
and my pizza place ended up slanting
a bit instead of standing straight up,
now tilting about 10 degrees eastward,
thought I might have to shut it down,
but thank God the planning commissioner
and inspector said it was
still safe and sound,
and much to my surprise,
I got frequented by more and more customers
who said it was not only that they loved
the taste of my old fashioned homemade pizza,
and how I always warmly smiled and greeted,
but also the new look of my now
unique leaning tower of pizza.
Cynosure
Umm..cynosure... what does that mean?
Oh yes, I see...something supreme.
Like dignitary, celeb, sight;
a focal point, or nucleus.
A stunner, prodigy, limelight,
a treasure, magnate, omphalos.
A hero, luminary, ace,
centrality, big gun, big name.
A famous person, worthy place,
or major leaguer of some fame.
A star, a personality;
a spotlight, center of it all.
Exemplar and epitome;
an archetype, original.
Top brass, top dog, a spectacle,
a wonderment or quintessence.
An act of God, a miracle;
immortal, beauty, eminence.
Umm...cynosure...now understood.
To me, it means...superbly good.

I do not know your name...how should I call you?
Though I call you with the name of my choice...you will not be aware of it
Everyone knows that name
Hearing that name once will keep me wide awake
Everyday...thinking of you makes me excited
With my immense affection...I will encompass you
He's a young lad
He is handsome
I liked him
Your name is a warm ray of sun
Lips that spells it are sweet as honey
You are mistaken if you think you are the sun
The name is a playful winter
Hearing it will surge my heart
If you think you are a river...you are mistaken
It's not a stone that does not move...nor a ferocious tiger that scares
Whatever is your name...it can be found out
Should I reveal that name which pairs with mine beautifully?
It's a very big name...it's difficult to spell it out
The letters of the name are countless
It's a very small name...that can be spelt in a second
There is no language that can describe the meaning of that name
As I spell that name with my lips
With the purity of english, it is sprinkling the sweetness of honey
Should I reveal that name which pairs with mine beautifully?
Hero's Reward
A warrior wears his battle scars
with pride upon his face.
Across his breast a row of stars,
he brings us no disgrace.
He's welcomed with a big parade,
"Hero," they proclaim;
but in his heart the whole charade
pounds within his brain.
The memories haunt his every dream
no sleep is ever content.
Faces; women and children scream
the weapon's round is spent.
Each life is counted on this earth.
All children are held dear.
Somewhere she who gave him birth,
shall never hold him near.
The terrors implode, consume his life.
He can't work or play or joke.
He has no friends, no job, nor wife,
He's hungry, lonely and broke.
"It's a syndrome," or some big name,
"Send him to a shrink. "
There has to be something to blame.
but it's not what one would think.
He is not weak or just depressed.
His demons drive him mad!
Another "Hero" is sent to test,
we say, "it's just too bad."

Jasper Newton Daniel was born in 1850.
He hailed from a small town called Lynchburg in Tennessee.
Jack was born on a farm located in Moore County.
He was one of twelve children born to the family.
At an early age, he started a distillery.
Its product would be a world-famous sour mash whiskey.
In a rectangular bottle with a black label,
“Old Number Seven” proved quite popular and able.
Despite the Civil War, and strong legal repression,
the whiskey even survived the Great Prohibition.
Jack Daniel never married and had heirs to bestow.
Therefore, the business went to his nephew Lem Motlow.
These two men earned the Tennessee whiskey a big name.
The Brown-Forman Company made it achieve more fame.
Jack Daniel’s success is something no one will deny.
This is strange considering the Lynchburg town is dry.
I thank both wikipedia.org online encyclopedia and Jack Daniel's website for information I obtained to write this poem.
it was a time soul shine
in the getto they would blow
the sounds that still around
some of love
give you a love to think of
some game fame
that has history claim
still a big name
the music still has love tear
those
GOLDEN DOOWOO YEARS
She has been an entertaining actress for years.
I watch nearly all of her episodes of “Cheers”.
“Veronica’s Closet” brings Kirstie some more fame.
Movies and television give her a big name.
Since you appeared as a Vulcan in “Star Trek II”,
even without pointed ears, I still revered you.
Pervasive admiration from your fans is due.
You have acting talent and beauty that is true.
We all know in recent years, you struggled with weight.
Do not worry. Thin or chubby, you still look great.
Concerning your looks, there is no need to have fears.
We hope to be seeing you for some future years.
