Shoe leather sidewalks
Shadow cast skywalks
Hosts a bevy of ghosts
The long summer heat
Torch blue collar feet
Soles roasting coast to coast
Gothic museums
Gold colosseums
Unsheathes the royal wreaths
Flotsam and Jetsam
Worn Skechers gets 'em
Souls bleeding in the weeds
I know
you're wondering
who's really
pulling the strings
Puppeting things
unbeknownst
to you
The lines between
the lies & truth
are blurry
They hide what's true
in a hurry
to blind you to
the weight of the storm
You're beneath
a bevy of flurries
that weigh more
than imagined
The reality is heavy
& I imagine you're
looking for answers in
all the wrong places
Empty spaces
where clean mirrors
used to be
You can no longer
glean a clear reflection
due to all the
dirty projections
Harsh lessons
being taught in
the dead of winter
classes
No one passes
in the thick of it all
unless you're shoveling
your fastest
Watch as snowballs
metastasize into the size
of glaciers & roll before
you've had a chance
There's no running from
this avalanche no matter
where you go or
what angle you take
I suppose
they want you to
just accept your fate
& make a snow angel
Fuchsia gives light to the cobalt blue sky
As the doves sing a lullaby
One tree frog croak while cricket chirps
And woodpecker's cymbals add their touch
Close your eyes and feel the cool
Open your heart, let the damp morn in
Enjoy the touch and feel that's so real
Be in the moment, a chance to relish, feel
Negative emotions that are inside let them release
Open your soul to all nature's peace
As doves rear their squab
Soon fly away in the bevy
Ignore the survival in the wild
Sit, soak up the atmospheric pleasure awhile
Rest and let life pass by
Just a moment or two, give it your best
Time to revel in beauty, grace, quiet and stillness
Just a few minutes prepares one for the day
Nature invites take time to pray
I observe the tapestry of life
Consumed by all of this strife
I tried to raise the wall
Only to watch it fall
They told me it's over
As I battled to stay sober
But why am I so lost
And what is the cost
I'm in the Hell of my own mind
Like a stranger I've yet to find
But if I were to truly fail
Would my haters hail
So I get up again and smile
Knowing it all goes to hell after awhile
But I just want to be fine again
No longer burdened by sin
I threaded through thoughts
I saw the discord it brought
So I took scissors and cut my ties
Unraveling a bevy of my own lies
I may have never had a plan
But I wanted to be more of a man
So as my life goes on replay
I wonder if I'll again be okay
From the best came the worst
And I feel my heart begin to burst
But see it's all in my head
And it wants to leave me dead
So I observe the tapestry of life
Consumed by all this strife
I genuinely just want to be free
And finally find a place for me
I've been to the dark places
And worn a thousand faces
When happiness is out of reach
Sorrow is easy to breach
I'm more monster than man
But I never really had a plan
So I've rewritten my sins
And thrown them in a rubbish bin
And if you look in my eyes
You'll see a bevy of lifelong lies
Rolled out like a bill
I'll have to put my heart in the till
I tried to teach myself how to feel
So I could know when it's real
But happy thoughts are like dreams
Fleeting and they disappear it seems
In myself I wanted to believe
I didn't have to be a deity to achieve
But I'm an imposter in my own mind
A falsity that became true you'll find
I still think better days are ahead
And I might find them if I'm not dead
But when death ekes closer and closer
I'm really just seeking closure
I've been to dark places
And worn a thousand faces
But really I just want to fit my own
And find a way to atone
When happiness is out of reach
Sorrow is easy to breach
But deep down is a light
And for it I will forever fight
A stretched gloaming tethers creation in a

'Tis the volley of calendrical crasis

And who am I
A man without identity.
As it matters not.
I've become a non-entity.
Each tries for the top.
Life can be heavy.
So, roll hopscotch.
Fly with a bevy.
Yet, who am I
Minus identity.
Trying to keep time.
While seeking levity.
God save the unwise
for they are many.
I'm a guy that -writes.
And I've paid the Levy.
Witness the folly of the yammering crowd
Those that speak smugly and those that speak loud
Spitting out syllables the live long day
With nothing to show and nothing to say
A chorus line of mechanical mouths
A bevy of bores from the north to the south
Wherever you go they're standing beside us
Let's pray that they all catch laryngitis
Lies are a bill you pay later
And they might make you a traitor
Cut your nose to spite your face
But you have surely lost this race
In your hands you held a life
That you chose to give nothing but strife
So now you want to play messiah
But in reality you're just a pariah
Look at all of those who walked away
A social circle dwindled to nothing today
And you keep running but keep falling
From the bevy of sins we find appalling
You put up walls, dilapidated walls
Destined and damned to fall
If you present a D to evil it becomes the devil
And now for you that's just a lost level
Because you fail to measure up to your grade
And now from all sides you face the shade
And now you see lies are a bill you pay later
But it still hurts my heart to call you a traitor
Lies rely on more lies to get by to get high
To fly and soar and sigh and ask why
You wasted your chance to be a messiah
And now you're just a pathetic pariah
Who peddled falsities like a liar
Now you face the flames and fire
“If you keep only healthy food in your cupboard and fridge, you will eat good food.” – Errick McAdams
“You need a steroid to fix your ills.
Now vaccination to ward off winter chills.
Take an antidepressant, to calm your woes.
Let’s try antibiotics and see how it goes.
A short run of oxycodone to ease any pain.
Eating salt and acidy food you must refrain.
We will give you antacids just in case,
And a full range of vitamins, food to replace.
Eat nothing with Gluten or carbohydrate.
We’ll give you a pill to lower your heart rate.
A bevy of sprays to help you breathe.
A mood stabilizer if you begin to seethe.
There’s nothing else before you run out of money.
Make sure you call if you begin to feel funny.
Your health will soon be at its highest peak.
Make an appointment to see me in a week.”
"How uplifting it feels to be given such care.
Knowing my specialist has it all right there.
And silly me was considering healthy living.
Fresh air, good food and exercise, such a misgiving !!"
If reincarnation is possible
I wanna come back as a lion
King of the beasts roaming free
Or perhaps a native Hawaiian
A famous dentist, a noted doctor
Or maybe a computer guru
King of a brand new country
Ballerina making her debut
Maybe come back as a piglet
Been acting a bit like a slob
Perhaps a famous ball player
Like nasty old Ty Cobb
I know, I've got it, this is it
Greatest lover ever known
With a huge bevy of beauties
Like a sultan upon his throne
If reincarnation is possible
Coming back is very appealing
Maybe return as a billionaire
With riches up to the ceiling
From the smallest of handbells to bells that are heavy,
bells of all types make a large bevy.
Small bells are often the tinkling kind
like decorative ones in some stores we find.
There are ring-a-ling bells and bells that jingle
like jingle bells ringing when merry folks mingle.
Sleigh bells on horses evoke for me
lovely white wonderland imagery.
Other small bells women wear round their ankles.
An alarm bell that wakens me, oh, how it rankles.
There are waist bells the belly dancers often will wear
while big bells on churches call people to prayer.
Some bells sound randomly; others on queue.
There are bike bells, school bells, and cow bells too.
Of bells that chime melodies, there's more than a few.
That's what the bells called Carillon do.
Bell bottom jeans were used back in my day
and Hell's bells is an expletive some say.
The most famous bell, what might it be?
I think it's the one that's called Liberty!
There In Morning Sun, Hope Circled Enticing Dreams
From inside gaping jaws, golden honey slow drips
its taste as if bitter hell came with deadly judgment
life turned into a bevy of sunken ships
with the dried up bones below a sadden statement.
With solid granite illuminating moon 's glow
ironclad hills buried secrets sadder mysteries
impropriety ran in and melted wicked snow
starving for more people ate from empty granaries.
The wicked angels flew about on leaden wings
watching for the innocence of the golden truth
dawn's light erupted brought the small songbirds that sing
for hot romance and the vanities of our youth.
There in morning sun, hope circled enticing dreams.
Father time gave its fruit to fill the icy streams.
Robert J. Lindley, Sonnet,
Feb 25th, 1971
Jim was suave, sophisticated, two notches above debonair
his appreciative entourage band followed his lead;
bevy of giggling ladies followed him from town to town
trying to grab his saxophone
The birds sing to the note of her voice
The earth blushes at the smile on her face
The roses blossom at the flow of her beaut
The waves sway at the wriggle of her waist
She's truly the tingling in his heart
A purely desired place is where he's at
A thousand miles isn't enough to walk
A million hurdles isn't enough to work
A battalion of soldiers won't bid me stop
A bevy of pretty ladies won't bid me flop
To get to her to tell her my soul
I love you! I love you! O this I know
Her love is so sweet, so tender, so mild
In the warmth of your embrace, I'll rest like a child
