What Is Love?

What is love if it is not the selfless,
Wholehearted joy in another’s fortune?
If it is not the thrill at another’s joy?

If it is not the longing for another’s happiness,
Then what is love at all?

Real love remains untainted by bitter negativity,
By possessiveness and jealousy.
By human nature’s poisons and insecurities.

Love is the power to grant freedom, to trust, to adore.
So, what is love if not the warm and carefree feeling?
A heart brimming full of laughter and light?

If these emotions are not love,
Then who can claim to love at all?

Love is not a need, or desire, nor is it the want of flesh.
Love is the simple pleasure of another’s company,
The sharing, sometimes, the sacrifice,
The ultimate willingness to put another first.
The hunger to make another happy.
The need to dry their tears,
To tend their ill health,
To help them be all that they can be.
To inspire their dreams,
Cultivate ambitions
And give absolutely, unequivocally your all.

Because love makes us better than we are,
And what is love, if it is not the beautiful,
And soul singing feeling of fulfilment,
Pride and joy in the existence of another?

What is love if it is not all accepting,
All forgiving and all kind?
Love is a guiding light in life,
Something to aspire towards.

What is love then,
If not the warmth in my chest,
The smile as I fall asleep,
The eagerness with which I wake?
What is love, if not the excitement,
The anticipation you always leave me with?

I ask you then, what is love,
If it is not what I feel for you?

Premium Member The Naked Poetess

A poetess thought she was such unique, hot stuff.
Disposed was she, to writing in the buff!
"What's so wrong with that" she huffed.
I told her unequivocally, in friendly puffs:
"Doing that, in your front window is arrestable, plain, dumb, stuff!"

Premium Member Essence

My feelings are mosaic,
scattered and multi-colored.
There is no set pattern in the artwork
and no meaning in each separate pane.
Only the whole surface memorable.
Each shard of broken mirror
reflects a parse of the whole.
When pieced together the total vision,
though tattered, comes into clearer focus.
Reflection, a study of the conscious.
Moments of time tell no tale.
Vignettes of a larger tome
monopolize space that holds no fullness,
no revelations of intensity,
dramatism, lyricism, poeticism.
I demand everywhereness,
unbound illimitedness.
Totality of my essentialism
wherein I exist in absoluteness.
my assemblage as a full complement.
Quanta on quanta. Wholeness.
Unequivocally me.

Premium Member I Loved It

I really loved it when
I had that bubbly youthful nature
I’d wake up enthusiastic
Hopeful for what each day would bring

Years of disillusionment pecked away
And eroded that bright fragile shell
It’s most unfortunate because
It was so unequivocally uplifting
That smile on my face seemed permanent
As much as that fresh sense of joy and hope
Exuding from my guileless heart

To this day I wonder
Why being so positive and happy
Got on people’s nerves
It seemed they needed to knock
Me down a peg or two
How very sad that they so managed
To defeat my childlike awe
Now it seems almost an impossible task
To undo their vile malevolent undoing
But I am determined to keep trying

Head Vs. Heart

Today is the day my heart has to take a stand
Against the agony and anguish of being alone.
Hopefully today, my head can make it understand

That it has unequivocally had the upper hand.
It’s a prudent proposition, the evidence has shown;
Today is the day my heart has to take a stand.

How can you hold on to this hollow strand
Holding this overly oppressive weight of stone?
Hopefully today, my head can make it understand

That forever is but a forgotten fire never fanned
By the fervor of two fevered souls never grown.
Today is the day my heart has to take a stand.

Hasn’t the bullying, bullfighting, butting and
Beating been enough to burst every single bone?
Hopefully today, my head can make it understand

That war is definitely warranted and I command!
Love has become loathsome liar we must disown!
Today is the day my heart has to take a stand,
Today, my head will make it understand.

Every Death Is a Suicide

Every death is a suicide,
nobody dies in an accident.
“Car hit him and he died” -
grievous friend with sorrow complains.
But a sage knows
car never hits a purpose,
Deceased one may have not desired
to be hit and die,
But rest assured he didn’t
want to live either.
All victims of accidents chant :
“ Que sera, sera”.
“Whatever will be, will be “.
They are not convinced
 in the power of life.
They fail to grasp
and hold it lovingly
turning themselves into prey.
If one chooses to live
then unequivocally one also chooses to die.
Let us not like children be
winning of injustice and tragic destiny,
But accept the true Nature of Reality
and embrace death responsibly.

Political Slam

In the modern age
Of canvassing
Before Political Elections
Isn't it funny ?
How threat's seem to happen
To National Security
So strength and leadership can be
Viewed and manipulated
Into placing your X in a Box
Like a cunning fox
You had me at Scared
The groundwork has been prepared
For total submission
Unequivocally without reason
It's hunting season
And the masses are the target
Are. you a patriot
Hail the all conquering Leader
Are you a true believer
Are you willing to put hate before love
Because you have been provoked to
Are we sheep
Do we bleat
Or do we speak
The voice of 1
Or can we overcome
Or are we valued less
Than gas and oil
And paper money
And conned into propping up it

Premium Member The Welcome Mat In Front of Our Home

This family fears God above.
Within these walls, there will always be love.
The door will constantly be open to the good.
I want that to be unequivocally understood.
If you are good, you will always be welcome.
We don't care where you are going, or where you are from.
See the welcome mat in front of our home?
While it is there, you will never have to roam.

Premium Member An Atheists Open Letter To God, Not My Personal Beliefs

Atheists open letter to God

Dear God

I don't know how to begin...let's see
how are you today? (no he doesn't exist...oh yeah)

I am writing you today...to clarify a few things!

First of all, the fact that I am writing you this letter,
does not in any way shape or form indicate, confirm,
affirm, or testify, or give testimony, or bear witness
to a belief or conviction that you exist, in any form whatsoever!!!

Speaking about your existence...I have denied your existence
and I wanted to know why you have not accepted my denial!
Don't you understand that my denial of you, (now as a consequence
of aforementioned denial) you are hereby obligated to not exist.

My detailed analysis of facts as I understand them lead me to conclude that there is no Creator, no Intelligent Designer, and also I concur, believe, am convinced, have the conviction, that we(humans) are the product of evolution and random selection, after the big bang event.

So in conclusion, I would like to ratify my belief that you do not exist, I concur, and agree, and am bound by this letter witnessed by me, stating categorically, unequivocally, that you do not exist.

Please refrain from indicating, manifesting, proving, supporting, in any way that you exist. Please respect my declaration of your non- existence and comply forthwith.

Not yours, not so sincerely,

An unbeliever

P.S If by any chance I am wrong...please disregard the aforementioned letter
with my most sincere and humble apologies.

Senses

She pervades and unveils all that I have kept hidden for so long
I do not know her but I hear her voice in and around my mind
It is weightless and I know she wills it in sound with ease
She is harmony, a beauty I would be so favoured to find

The friendly nudge at my side when I need it most
I do not know her but I feel her on my skin magically without touch
She engenders love innocently in all she does
It is a glow around her that is infectious and unrivalled by much

Her soul is saved for me and her gaze meets mine softly as does the sun at dusk
I do not know her but I see her eyes piercing mine
Without force nor resistance there is a wild and untainted kinship forged
She is a reflection that light overrides darkness, a sign

Her essence is the burst of aromas that fill the air around me
I do not know her but I taste the very air she breathes so tangibly
It is crisp and light without a hint or trace of impurity
A fresh tonic to heal, to restore and to strengthen vigorously

As if I wonder and follow her, unaware yet willingly
I do not know her but I smell her presence in rooms she has visited
A remnant I could not mistake for any other if I tried
There is something to be said for peace so beautiful and unlimited

Have you ever tasted the air in such a way as to be swept away by it?
I dare to say I have and yet quietly here I sit
How strange are these things that unequivocally bind me to her?
I dare not think on it, for rationality will not explain what is and what will occur
In spite of total darkness between our paths and the questions I have
I sense I will know her because once paths cross, we will reach out half and half

Premium Member Girl Gone Gladiator

She opens the DSM-5 to page 666,
Know Thyself,
who among us is not a Beast somehow,
she's enthralled by Imperfection,
It explains the scars on her heart,
if she believed in Perfection
then she would need to accept her own nature
unequivocally,
she would have to love every part of herself,
poetry is her therapy
building puzzles her bliss
solving puzzles her passion,
she is a madwoman in the 3rd degree,
a sensational spaz
believes that she is a heroine among the herd,
starlet atop a soapbox
cavalier with her cross of crass sass,
she cares too much to be free...
searching in the trauma of souls
for her own ghost
lovestruck by the Devil's lightning
Godsmacked by the grind
listening for God to apologize,
she's exhausted by cynicism
brilliant yet bitter,
a cutthroat competitor,
frozen beauty in a flame,
she expects Life to buck her every day
a jaded girl looking for the grim,
on stormy days she sings to the static
perhaps she's waiting for the Apocalypse -

Bitta Bing Bitta Bang

Aha...At Last,..Bitta Bing Bitta Bang
The Figurative Nail Hit On The Hair Strand Size Head!

Though no physician,
this aging baby boomer
absolutely, intuitively, and
unequivocally sensed hair loss (mine),
at first a speculative rumor
not simply in my (ahem) head,
no matter a minimalist groomer

nevertheless, thinning follicles,
upon dawning realization, sans medical
sought relief thru good humor,
though within this balding cerebral noggin
became repulsive as if my scalp
pulled pate rendered as a tumor.

Thus an unexpectedly present surprise
when in private consultation in the guise
as out patient client (early afternoon
December 19th, 2018),
where I did fraternize
and kibitz with the medical assistant

(old enough to be my...sister),
aye did exercise
mild mannered mien mean, aye do patronize
before doctor Rudolf (dearly
reigned) Roth, a practicing
Dermatologist told me no lies

his instant karma knowledge - mainly his
thirty seven years expertise
sought to excise
a prominent non cancerous mole approximately
centered middle of back
a small patch of skin,

he needed to anesthetize
nonetheless, a reassuring persona,
yours truly did lionize
(not merely, cuz
he received a five star rating,
specialist under auspices

of Penn, Medicine)
in Radnor Pennsylvania),
his modest calm did neutralize
any uneasiness, as did his pronounced
humility earn kudos to idolize
such rarely present gentility, and

unwitting capacity did harmonize,
and maximize significance to me,
asper my thinning limp
hair logically rationalize
identified underactive thyroid gland

(hypothyroidism) tubby,
which didst legitimize
no hair brained rooted concern,
hence...less reason to catastrophize',
which for no reason I
wanted to mildly emphasize,
hence choice to apostrophize...

                             And blissfully trap yourself

Creative Hunger: Pacified.

You are my split nail.
Ragged.
I catch you on every pair of stockings that I wear.
You snag my lip a thousand times a day,
subconsciously drawing blood.
I should spare the time to trim your edges,
to calm your pleadings, to dull your voice,
and yet...
you are my sharpened edge,
my heightened response, my after-all~
(and here I thought you were my paper quill
flowing ink to swirling black in stone scented liquid on feathered paper air...
absorb absorb
ah, absorb me...)
but hope upon hope comes to naught tonight
as you are but a fortune of pain
on the verge of exposé,
and I simply,
unequivocally,
have no time for you.

Ebola

Ebola
Formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever
First appeared in Nineteen sixty six
Found in Sudan's Nzara
Concomitantly, Congo's Ebola River
There wasn't any quick fix
From nowhere It has visited the world again
Leaving the world see everything in train
Scaring my wonderful West Africa
As it drains countries like Nigeria,
Guinea, Sierra leone and Liberia
Ebola Ebola
Everybody is talking about Ebola
Taking the waves world wide especially Africa
The most feared and number one killer
Tension heats up as It may come any hour
Every country tries protecting her border
Including my own motherland Ghana
Then just behind our flesh, came that old cholera
Revive and showing great power
Cooking people like short-grained brown rice
Sweeping them like dead flies
The causes are known Unequivocally
But solutions come verbally
The campaign then changes
Opening new pages
'Fighting Cholera' ' Preventing Ebola'
hmm Mother Ghana
I am pessimistic about the future
Ebola Ebola
Are we ready?
