Premium Member They Walk Amongst Us

They walk amongst us, but in silent ways,
spreading peace and love without any praise.
When thunder roars and lightning strikes in rain
they watch over us, healing bleeding pain.

Yet we do not see their celestial light,
nor do they shed feathers within our sight.
Happy to hide behind unknown faces,
empathy guides them to deprived places.

Heal and soothe, they prevent tears from flowing,
touch our hearts to leave our spirits glowing.
From Sydney to London, Rome to Bombay,
provide moments that take our breath away

Their acts of grace form a ripple effect,
kind gestures that help people to connect.

pulsating periwinkle stars dot the sky
under a lavender moon we make sweet love
on silk-soft sand two passionate lovers lie
as heavenly hosts serenade from above
all around us luminous fireflies fly
we take it in without either asking why
O the vastness and smallness of this warm night
we bask in the afterglow of love and light

Premium Member Time For Us To Sing

I came across a baby bird
And I wondered of its flight
A life had just begun
with a rough starting plight

Along came a gust of wind
as if blown by the sea
But it's a mountain top high
For this baby bird with me

It was then, our dreams were born
as we both began to fly
Carried by currents of faith
Touching clouds in the sky

The sun set upon our shoulders
drying raindrops on each wing
The horizon burst with colors
just in time, for us to sing

The melody traveled far
across the valley below
Reaching souls, a song is found
Always closer than you know

Premium Member Six Slopes

The six steep slopes they gave me..
yes, all were mine.

I can give them to you..
if you wish them.

Though they tend to be.,
unkind.

Don't wait for them to love,
or understand,
or forgive..

It's not their way.

They serve only to light a path,
show you the way.

Discover who you are, yes,
and where you come from.

It's what you always asked,
and all you ever prayed.

Don't look too far forward,
they'll make sure you're blind..

Understand that you are all that matters
not them, not us, not time.

Premium Member What Keeps Us Awake

While moon makes place for sun
dark sky duvet pushed back
stars close their eyes

The restless few
their beady eyes
small marbles
see all
and everything
hip ceaselessly
don't find peace

The intellectuals
philosophize the dark away
invent intricate
solutions
to external worldly
problems
and internal
personal dark

Morning light
moves deep inside
propped up on walls
shines a soft glow
that brings peace
if only for a short while

You Are Our Glory:God Save Us All

God save us all
Show us your mercy
Hold me closer in your arms
I need to feel you breathing inside of me

I never want to be far from you
I’m sure to lose my way without you
I need you more and more
Each minute of my life

Lord help me to know you better
I lose my faith, I’m getting weaker
Help me to walk bravely
Into the blinding light

Baptize the spirit in me
Wash away my sins
Help me to get a little closer to you
That's where I belong

Because life can be so full of sadness
A loveless world that’s full of madness
Take me by the hand and guide me
towards your love

Baptize the spirit in me
Wash away my sins
Help me to get a little closer to you
That's where I belong

Are There Any of Us Left

The cruel streets I walked made me sad
I looked not at him, nor at her
Those who passed me by, gutter grads
I felt at home among the curs
We were outcasts from hearth and home
Over the land our kind did roam.

Looking here and then searching there
As many as stars in the sky
By foot, by car, sometimes by air
We wanted to understand why
We couldn't go back where we'd been
Burned our bridges and that's a sin.

Some were poets within their hearts
A killer or two in the crowd
And some were like me; a la carte
Doing what it took to be proud
Some chased women, some ran from them
And in the melee some lost a gem.

I sit here writing words of mine
Wondering how many are left
Who write words and sell for a dime
I have escaped death's cold, cold theft
I have fought the fight and I've won
I'm old yes, but I've just begun

Premium Member The Night Santa Brought Us Weed

Twas the night before Christmas and all were in need
as we waited for Santa who had promised us Weed.
Our parents were sleeping with not a clue in their heads
that their children were Stoners and away from their beds.

The cheetos had been placed on the table with care
with an idea dear Santa soon would be there.
The winter was cold with no time for a snack
hoping Kris Kringle would come with fresh Pot from his sack.

I had been to the Bank and had obtained hordes of cash
with a fervent desire St. Nick would bring the best of his Stash.
We had our concerns for a reasonable fellow
who was honest and straight... no harshing our mellow.

The time had been set as I looked at the clock
knowing the waiting was tense and we needed our Pot.
And then from the porch a strange sound did we hear
but it was only friend Jim who had gone for some beer.

I stared out the window and peered through the snow
and we were greatly concerned whether Santa would show.
And then from the street... what did I observe?
A '72 ford Pinto... which was stuck on the curb.

The engine was smoking and the tires were flat
and with the windows quite frosted... I reached for my bat.
This didn't look good as I gave way to doubt.
Wondering who was the driver and who would come out?

And who should come forth? But Santa himself
who was all bearded and fat, a jolly old Elf.
He climbed to our rooftop... was nimble and quick
thus avoiding the doorbell... this fella was slick.

He was now in the chimney and this lightened our hearts
and we knew he was close when we heard the Elf fart.
And then in an instant the Big Guy appeared
but asking double the price for which we had feared.

We told him our troubles as he pondered our point,
he then lowered the price on every third Joint.
The payment was made and the dope was obtained
and up the chimney he rose unconcerned for the flame.

I'll remember that night... for it was a doozy
when Santa came through... and brought me a Doobie.
As he drove out of sight... I heard him calling my name...
Merry Christmas to all and goodnight Mary Jane.

                              The End

Premium Member Today Is a Gift To Us All

The thing about today is that:
It will be different than any other day
Many different factors will share in the reasons
That today will be completely original
The people we encounter can play a huge role
In the way that our day plays out
We have no control over how these people may act
No control over what they may say or do
We can however control the way we allow it to affect us
I have met and been friends with
About every type of person that there is
From healers to killers I have met them all
Shared meals and how we feel;the pressure of it all
I used to allow outside influences
                                                 Like these people
To play a role in how my day would go
Then one day I realized that if you remove the water from the falls
All that you have left is a cliff
And of course a hole at the bottom
All the breathtaking beauty of the waterfall is gone
All because some fool decided to build a dam to divert the water
The River had no choice in how its day would go
It had no choice in allowing an outside force
                                                        To change its course
Of where it would end today
We have a choice, no matter what anyone does
We can stay on course and maintain the original beauty of our day
As long as we always remember
That this day belongs to us
The only thing that can change that is God, for it is his gift to us all

Premium Member Angels Among Us

We each have a guardian angel
Here to guide us every day
And to guard us from the dangers
That we meet along the way.

You may not ever see your angel
But you'll know you're in his care
When you turn and see the pitfalls
That you didn't know were there.

Some time when it is quiet
And the light is growing dim,
You may lift your eyes up quickly
And just get a glimpse of him.

He sends an angel frequency
That only you can hear.
If you keep your ear tuned to it,
He will come in loud and clear.

That voice of caution you had thought
Was only in your head
Is from the angel God has sent you
So you'll never be misled

By false voices all around you
That would make you lose your way.
Thank God for your guardian angel
Every time you kneel to pray.

Premium Member Only Heaven Knows

That place you go between dusk and dawn,,
hiding the child within.
Let it run free only when the door goes closed,
and no one else can see in.

Those people that loved, who made a difference..
cared so much, wanted only what was best
for you in life with no thanks.*

Braver than Superman, Wonder Woman,
and that guy with flags..
that stared down the Chinese tanks...

The ones who make you laugh, hold your hand..
when you just want to be left alone.,
say you can do it when you think you can't,
and hug you when the day turns to ruin.

So you have trust issues? I understand..
can't blame you for that., we all do.

This world makes its bones in bruised hearts,
at the expense of the innocent, gifted, and good.
There's no reason why it happens,
yet somehow we survive and go on.

It must mean something, you and I still..
left on this earth, it just does.
Maybe we're a puzzle piece left unfilled..
waiting for someone to complete us.

You have this time.., it is yours, do with it as you may.
For me it's sitting here writing this poem..
though I wish so much more for you,
and your special someone this day.

I don't have all the answers, or what the future holds.
I would be cautious of anyone that says they do.
To be honest, even some of the questions leave me cold.
So take care they don't take that which makes you, you.

Will they ever accept just who you are..
in a world where anything goes.
Or should you lock all feelings away in a jar..
my dear friend, only heaven knows.

Everybody needs something, every last one of us
wants.., only to live.
I wish you luck in life, good health, and love..
and the chance to get as well as you give.

Premium Member The Curtain of Pain Fell Upon Us

While snowflakes continue to fall,
upon a night pale as ghostly winter
I falter from my own distraught pause--
the hazy moon watches my young girl
a serene angel laying in starshine, on a bed
frigid cold with her tiny body
wrapped in fine linen and pink bonnet:
I could still recall her pupils tightening,
while through glimpses silent, my own mouth
utters, ' fight, my dear one, fight!'

Yet, her last gasp escapes a frozen outline,
those eyes blinking restlessly up high
as my fallen gazes droop at her gaunt form --
How this heart cleaves till screams rack
my own body with convulsive, inconsolable
anguish: this route to a thievish doom
makes me seethe, slam, screech at life
for my child's unborn dreams ...never to fly, ever.
It rains and a mantle of tears drown
upon her skin, my face in endless whys--
as I howl with night birds for the villainy of time.

Then They Give Us Form As If One Three Thousanth of Us Know What the Hell That Is

Velvet fell from the SKY ON a Boston day by the bay
Cotton caressed thy lips gentility so that you might sigh
While you tried to convince me you and I could beg to fly
Suddenly uncertainty and fearfulness drew night but I never knew why

Other people opined they were warm yet I was cold
I longed to see my arms open wide for you to thusly hold
The woman who tutored ancient men how to produce gold
No statue crafted of such solemnity to behold

To heartbeats beat as one neither ever to cry
Hand in had that old man called us lovebirds flying high
And you with gold shimmering in the wind with which you vie
When the moon that night told you to tell me goodbye

The darkened sky stared right at me
And whatever it asked I would cauIdally comply
They ordered me a way, take to the run and flee
And never even knew fu****g why
