POTD: 8/20/23

Time For Us To Sing

I came across a baby bird
And I wondered of its flight
A life had just begun
with a rough starting plight

Along came a gust of wind
as if blown by the sea
But it's a mountain top high
For this baby bird with me

It was then, our dreams were born
as we both began to fly
Carried by currents of faith
Touching clouds in the sky

The sun set upon our shoulders
drying raindrops on each wing
The horizon burst with colors
just in time, for us to sing

The melody traveled far
across the valley below
Reaching souls, a song is found
Always closer than you know

Marikate Kingston August 22, 2023 at 5:59 PM What a pretty, peaceful poem. I enjoy poems that I can see as I read, Your is just that kind. I used to live by the ocean and I miss it and it's smell. One of my favorite stanza of yours reads : "The horizon bursts with colors just in time, for us to sing" I lived in Vermont for a while too, and of course your 4th stanza says it all for me.
