Best Temptingly Poems
One ice cream sundae
Swirled with whipped cream and a cherry on the top
Sitting temptingly in a tall glass
But you were out of reach
I could see you through the window of the restaurant
Melting away in front of my eyes
Like your life was ebbing away from you
With creamy liquid tears running down the side of the glass
Over time the cherry sank deeper into the velvety fluid
Until it disappeared into the thick goo
It’s blushing red cheek barely visible at the bottom of the goblet ...
ONE fire alarm spoiling one perfect moment
This is a true story – it happened on 5th September!

She senses before she sees
The manicured nails - the elegant fingers
Holding out the hundred dollar bills - enticingly - so temptingly
A generous nights takings of busking here
In one proffered hand
She grabs at it petrified it might be an illusion
Evaporating in a puff of smoke
Fingers hold it back, teasingly
Compelling eye contact
She looks up sceptically
Dark eyes meet her aqua blues, sparking a sort of affinity
‘Eyes are the window of one’s soul’- so it is said in all sincerity
But the magnetic dark eyes of her enticer are fathomless in their intensity
His type she has encountered before - money for favours
Well she is no novice - a living after all - a girl has to make
And his generous offer rivals his devilish good looks
But she senses a darkness favouring the energy emanating
A cold shiver runs through her veins like someone just walked on her grave
Fear ripples down her spine akin to a stroking finger chilled in ice
The spell he casts foreboding
The calmness of the night has taken flight
In its haste to set the macabre scene
Mesmerising are the eyes that bore into hers
Projected thoughts furtively slip into her mind
Infiltrating it like a slithery snake
Bringing with it forbidden thoughts of desire
She falls into the inky black abyss
Succumbing to heady dark passionate conceptualization
However the chilling message is coherent
This is not a mere opportunistic one night stand
That he desires
This is more - so much more
This is taboo concupiscence unleashed
This is her life in exchange for what?
Her life for immortality?
Surely not!
Yet his eyes eloquently convey it all
The hunger so unconcealed - so transparently flagrant
To yield to darkness
Satisfying his appetite for
Death of a different nature?
Obliteration of life as she knows it to be
Tenebrous Immortality in exchange for her blood
A prelude to his finale of taking her soul
And then a metamorphosis
From Prey to Predator

Dramatic Verse
You wrap my name
In syllables of love
Passion tinged sound units
Caressed by the beauty of your voice
you leave me no choice
but to yield....
breathed into my ear
you release
letter sojourners to travel
down the curve of my neck
to a cadence that captivates
and my heart capitulates
When you say my name....
When you say my name
saturated in n~e~e~d
wanting to be freed....
you make the appeal
wanting healing...immediate...real
your testosterone tempered tonality
temptingly deep...
it sets in motion
Resonance reverberations
that rock ecstasy's epicenter...
my name comes again
riding your waves of want...
it comes
in the full knowledge
that my release of liquid love
will welcome you in
to the inner sanctum sanctuary
where your body is idolized
and your name chanted...immortalized
in the rhythm and rhyme
of passion sublime
When you say my name...
When you say my name
you evoke the spirit of eternity
to dance the dance of life
weaving through and around
two simple syllables
of romantic antics
dancing and swaying
your voice calming playing
the trace of romance
leaving nothing to chance
when you say my name....
when YOU say...MY...N*A*M*E*

"Join hands to sweep clean of all dirt and preserve the pristine beauty of Nature to enhance the quality of living. If not, fear her lashing us black and blue"
-by poet
Nature, you are God’s lovely creation,
Dressed in grandeur, decked in regal beauty
You give us much scope for recreation,
Preserving your grace becomes our duty
Poets chant and sing in honor of you,
Sages withdraw to your silence serene,
Beasts and birds have found you as their sweet home,
Men find their sustenance and thrive on you,
Dales and hills – add to your bright sheen
The sky with its stars form your golden dome
Dark forests and running brooks lend you charm,
Deep Ravines spell your profound mystery.
It’s our duty to save you from all harm
Sometimes you baffle with your trickery
Always kind you are, yet some brutish men,
Dismally assault you, they maim and mar,
They suck your life sap – they leave you dry,
They keep on committing sin after sin
Your beautiful frame, to pieces they tear
With their selfish acts, badly mortify
You were once so temptingly beautiful
You could amaze and take our breath away
Looked so elegant, lovely and graceful
In scenic beauty, you could proudly sway
You were Princess of royal lineage
Been decked in brilliantly colorful shade
But your thankless children carelessly spread
Toxic fumes, carbon and dirty garbage
And all your wealth they callously invade
They will ooze out your blood and cast you dead!

Ode
A day wherein to wake warm sun to drench,
while it hangs temptingly reaching nature's
ravenous hunger only sun doth quench.
As warm in wild or tame heart leal creatures.
Benign spring upon buds slowly open,
sweeping gold hay-field and purple loosestrife,
songs among branches, cool wind unspoken
sounds descend on restoration of life.
A wee girl in white chiffon Easter dress,
flower hat with embroidery and lace.
Dulcet music ring throughout the church, bless
celebration of life and loving grace.
Spring and Easter bring forth new life from death.
Jesus resurrection, in heaven's breath.

Raspberries
Young, tender and succulent
Smothered in cream
Yellow fluffy omelets
Garnished with herbs
Eve's pudding bathing in custard

Mushroom risotto
-a gourmet delight -
Served with green salad
plus chips and icecream!
A glass of white wine - Pinot Grigio
slightly chilled

Madness sets in - slowly
I imagine how happy I'll be when I'm slim
A young flirty lover
With lips made of chocolate
Just waiting for kissing
Delicious and sweet
Courting my taste buds

Hot apple pie Mom took so long to make
sat briefly on the shelf so temptingly!
Nobody thinks a sweet wee tot could take
hot apple pie Mom took so long to bake.
I’ve shut my mouth about my tummy ache.
One more vanished pie stays a mystery.
Hot apple pie Mom took so long to make
sat briefly on the shelf so temptingly!

Triolet
Immerse under waves of ardent sunshine,
nippiness breath near spring clean weather, bring
endless hope, yearn fruit vine, her wee growth wing
touched by dramatic beauty, God's divine.
Distinguished master, ageless fervent sun
hangs temptingly, reaching natures sweeping
meadows, daylight beginning, retrieving,
renewing, reborn creatures one by one.
Cherry blossom graceful limbs bow, appease
budding spectrum of flora, storage pull
bees, as well as butterflies, taking full
gratification bowers sweet release.
Beneath benevolent sun, sky does drench,
appetence that only sunshine doth quench.

Sonnet
I beckon nature to play her Symphony of Spring
when everything comes alive, revived once more.
When resident avian will have a chorus as backup,
perched along limbs and branches of aged oaks,
arrayed in dresses the hue of sage leaf green.
All keen to witness the budding and blooming,
the heavenly scented perfuming of the season
and the reason sweet nectar is temptingly teasin'
to the biggest hive of honeybees I've ever seen.
Willows will soon be sweeping nearer the flowing river,
the giver of life into which their tears fall as they weep.
Their slim limbs will quiver as they touch the ground.
In the distance I'll hear the sound of baby lambs baahing
and the la la laing of children's laughter as they run around
enjoying warmer weather; their cries of joy... unbound.
I'm ready to listen for the wind's soft melodies to play
in the evening as twilight falls at the end of the day.
Some say its then, night critters call in search of a mate
for the fate of their existence depends on the songs
they use to serenade the silvery moon all night long.
They will boldly sing when they take to wing,
always at the command of Nature. At her behest,
never in jest...an idle request when cicada awake
and do their best cricket knee mime to sound like
chimes clinking in rapid rhythm upon magnolia trees.
I'll focus with ears alert and constantly listening
as I sit on my back porch swing, sipping sweet tea.
Gentle rain will have my flower garden glistening.
Frogs will ribbit in sync and fireflies will quickly blink
their taillights like stars hovering near the ground.
I'll love the sound of a loon calling to be romanced,
her seductive chant will be enhanced by the scent
of sweet jasmine blossoms. It's a time when everything
will become a part of the nuance; the beauty of Spring.

Doubts crept
Ever slowly
Inching up my spine
A silent moon
Peered
From behind
Dark clouds
A shadow lingered
On my soul
Temptingly
Tantalizing
A shudder
Cagily
Clenched
My chest
Tore out my heart
Held it
Before the hidden moon
Its thundering longing
Beseeching
The stars of clarity
With a pounding
Ferocity
The moon
Applauding
In an awakening
Sky

All in Good Time
Sara L Russell, 28/2/14, 00:30
Given time
the inner eye of memory sees with softer reverie,
as through a muslin curtain; softly veiled and far away -
and how temptingly tranquil seem the waters of the past.
Given time
lost minutes lengthen into hours, to long-remembered days,
lost words that needed saying fall like petals in the rain
Turning slowly in the air until they fade to dust at last.
Given time
a distant haunting melody's translated into sighs
birdsong at morning lilting like a glimmering of streams;
and moments of reflection spill too swiftly through our hands.
Given time
dry leaves fly through the chilly air and scatter in the sky
summer will have her finery returned from green to gold,
and snow will cover everything, like time's relentless sands.

Lyric
The forest is cool, inviting. I look for small wildflowers in lush grasses growing beneath the trees. Sunlight streams in shafts
and there is birdsong, birdsong and delicate ferns on gentle banks.
Soon, I see a pathway that winds beside a clear stream. The roots
from the trees reach toward the water etching deep ruts .
Large rocks decorate the edges -mark the curves that beckon
beckon me to follow on.
A large puddle appears, blocking the path. I take off my shoes and paddle through enjoying the squishy mud.
Suddenly, a bear - I STOP,
watch it foraging for berries. With caution,
I back, silently away to let it follow the terrain
onward to its cave and hibernation.
Something sparkles on the ground - I stoop- pick it up.
It is a long key with a open circled end. I put it in my pocket
thinking it will make an interesting ornament.
At the end of the path, I find a rustic cottage with
high garden gates, banks of rhododendrons.
A secluded hideaway.
There is neatness, order to the whole scene.
smoke rises from a chimney
into clouds overhead.
I pull out the key. It sparkles temptingly.

All day long I dreamed of you
Lying there so temptingly
I couldn’t wait to hold you
Just the thought of you filled me with desire
I wanted you oh so badly…
And then I opened that door
The door that separated me from you
To my horror I found you had gone
You had simply vanished into thin air
Lying there in your place was a note
I slowly scanned the lilac paper
It read …
I’m sorry mum I couldn’t resist that last cream scone…
I slammed the fridge door shut so hard it nearly fell off its hinges!

"The Honey Masquerade in Delta"
Love and Lust
ignores
ALL
The Others dissolve
who cares, Lovers don't -
Lovers are in a world of their own
Lovers dance
through shadows
Love and Lust
play their own game
Unafraid, they play
Day into Night
Night into Day
Burning sweet like toffee
they play,
The Honey Masquerade
In a World of their Own
The Wheel of Fortune calls
Venus Spins
Freedom
Delta lies her land flat
triangle shaped
beckoning
Free,
but now
Honey Trapped
Apollo runs her like a River
Out to Sea
Love like a poem
sweet vibed and ripe
Lust like a bandit
challenges Love
and ignoring
ALL
Lust takes the shiny, juicy Apple
and temptingly whispers to Love …
"Come, take a bite."

“Anaïs, I don't know how to tell you what I feel.
I live in perpetual expectancy.
You come and the time slips away in a dream.
It is only when you go that I realize completely your presence.
And then it is too late.
You numb me. [...]
