Ted breezed into the house like he owned the place
with an cocky smirk plastered all over his face
I know that look son; just tell me what you’ve done -
you’ve not robbed a bank and now you’re on the run’!

He puffed out his chest and strutted with a swagger
then jumped on the table and danced like Mick Jagger
He said, mum don’t fret, there won’t be a lynch mob -
I’ve just had an interview and got my very first job!

Left Behind Swagger

She swaggers over to our table
Whips out her pad from her apron
Pencil poised
What’cha want Hon?
She drawls
Soft pink lips in a little twinkled pout
The white frilled design
Bust’n out in all the boxum places
Our “Two Specials with coffee” reply
Brought a smile
I like it fast and easy like that
she laughs
as she saches her swagger back
to place our order
you can’t help but notice that
her perfume lingers
in still air
as if the shadow of her swagger
was left behind

The man is from Bronx, but plays in Manhattan
Owns an old Chevy, but he drives like a Mercedes
Sleeps in Quality Inn, but dreams in Ritz-Carlton

Watch him flip his hair and float on thin air
Jazz of the night, he's song of the dawn
And in his every bounce blazes fire of romance

He's the joy of summer in cool rain showers
And exuberance of purple hydrangea flowers
That's how he gambles and wins big in poker

When daunting is life's hour, he does not cower
Nothing is something and something is much more
Despair's just a passing breeze, hope is forever

A dreamer, he meets her, falls madly in love
When for his Aston Martin, she bids a Ferrari

Raising stake, all in he goes, vowing: "I love you"
When, "me too" she says for she's a swagger too

Cleopatra, The-Deo-Swagger

I swagger on up, up onto the top,

yet it wasn't my style, being Queen of the Nile,

they saw me a leader, who filled up their jigger,

for the praises they sound, I need to keep them around,

being a swag I was high, being tagged a nice guy

for the love they bestow, I just had to know,

was all this too much, or just a nice touch,

was it good or bad, was it sweet or sad,

but you know what they say, hands together and pray,

for the swag world she love, was her anointing dove.

i see you strutting
your long flowing hair
miniskirt and heels
swaying with swagger
content with your lot in life
i try to picture you
twenty or thirty years from now
and can’t help but hope
life never drags you down

Swagger Daggers---Hooked On Ebonics, Vol 1

*written for Verlena's Contest "EBONICS, Let's Do Some Slang"

SHAWTY,

Yir' boy fin' ta' told ya' bout some lessons in what the Man call Ebonics.
Cus' I gots' this!
Like the young fellow named Carmello on the New York Knicks,
and girrrrrl I got mo' slang in my verse than the words of them nerds
down at Hooked On Phon-ics

I TRIED TA' TOLD YA"LL...

I keeps my flows tight,
Fam ,
cus word is bond like James
and I ain't talkin' Rick James, RIIIGHT!

Ya' see, round cheer,
between Normandy and Western,
what we call this is a little "Twennie Twin Twin"
but round the way,
where you stay,
they just may call this a "Sinny Sin Sin!"

Yo, hold up baby girl...
Lemme ax you suh-um...
Who you be with?
cus Shawty, how you look,
is off the hook,
and Boo-Boo you is suh-um I can see me with with!

Yo Yo Yo! Wait! Hold up girrrl! Where you goin'?

'Sup honey child,
You know my favorite basketball player used to be Yao Ming!
Ya-Mean?
Get it Yao Ming?
Yaa-Mean!?!-----(crickets chirp-ing fir' certain)

Lady Queen, come on back to me!
Yo, my jokes may be stupid, but they clean,
B'sides, I coulda' been' said something idiotic like Idi Amin,
Yaa-Mean?
And the homey don't even play no basketball, ya dig?
Yes YESHall! ...

Better put that ON SOMETHIN'!
And you KNOW THIS!----(awww heck naw, Shawty dipped...)

SWAGGER

Collaboration poem of
Space Cadet (Wesley C) and Darren White

He can absorb and hide his gaze,
Pretend to be genuine and flower his date,
Her tattoos hide him from the freaks,
So he can evade any clue he craves
      that one gift
      she can't gift him.

I sway left to right with the mid-day crowd swagger.
      My street avoids collision, strafe
that hurry us to the sides.

Where women with rosé wrists,
      and floret tattooed shoulders
      that decorate their temples
      whisper naked ritual.
Where his glare behind the bling
purple petals parade, and clover stemmed sleeves
      ascend to hide his arms

Swift distant glance to me
      our eyes lock in
      recognition with crazy hunger
for fresh fruit to my yearning lips
Thumb grazes my cheek
      wanton wink.

Jump run down a familiar back alley
past the soft glow of lanterns
      boyish evening lights
My golden curls
      pulled in greedy fists
Our fists of seed
embrace sin with a different name.
only here can he feel no exodus,
dominate my every cell with one gaze.
I succumb without command.

Muffled mushy mouths
      chest to back; arms encompass
Murky grasp is past silence
Near violence disguised as lust.
Scandalous swagger turns
to sway me left to right
      fingers clutch stonecold wall
my teeth graze roses on his neck.

In pools of golden shimmer
      distorted screams ripple
      and cry goodbye, escape with
Humiliated speed.

Leaves me entangled hair
      astonished breathless
      feverish sweat.

Big Sister's Swagger Kid Poem

BIG SISTER'S SWAGGER--new baby brother

My mom and dad bought them a son
Someone who will like to run
Someone who won’t comb his hair
Someone who’ll forget his prayers
Someone who will fight and spit
Who will learn to kick and hit
Who will climb and who will fall
Hide in holes where bugs all crawl
He is a tiny but he’ll grow
Then I’ll teach him all I know

Vibrant cheers he exudes
Along his blissful smile
Midst mirth-filled greetings
Shaking hands with everyone
Oblivious of disability’s vexation…

Triumphantly presenting his abstract art work
His boyish swagger prevails, devoid of haughtiness
Revealing “confidence-to-the max” wholehearted glee
With his branded thumbs-up sign
Defying hypocrisy’s jeers…

Approaching the sanctuary’s altar with joy
He is meekly propelled by his swagger walk
While I prop him with love and patience
Thanking God* for the honourable privilege
To assist a special child, testifying "I'm proud of him."

*2Chronicles 5:13…Make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; …For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever…

Swagger

U say that I ain't got no swag,
'Cause i cant stand and light a ***,
Cant from a stranger take a hug
Cant down a bottle of beer, even a mug,
Let me wear my rags,
While you floss in your clad,
Not that i cant afford that.
But i choose 2 live simple like a rat
And be meek like a cat.
I don't wanna drown in the dirt,
Or b punctured like that board of dart,
'Cause am ain't blind like a bat..
I can see how youths r disappearing-very fast.

When ya got swagger, people all step aside
Their absolute amazement, they surely can't hide
My heart goes out to them
Their adoration has no end
I share my brilliance with people worldwide :)

The Jagger Swagger

Old Mick has the lips of a bragger
And wiggles his hips with a swagger.
He jumps, full of beans
In black skinny jeans
With hip-shaking destined to stagger!

Old ladies enjoy the distraction
Of seeing their idol in action.
He keeps them at bay
For, wrinkly and grey,
They can't give him no satisfaction!

Lost Swagger

ive lost my bravado and my swagger
my new mail order bride was a nagger
strongest woman ever seen
full of muscle and quite mean
and a sharp tongue that cut like a dagger

she shined so sweetly on buy brides on line
promised everlasting love for all time
the minute I said I do
she said who the hell are you
that's when I saw her the very last time

Premium Member Oh I'M Cursed So

Oh! How he sauntered like a lord with his flaunt
The bluster and strut so nonchalant
The swank and sway blew me away
And swept me under the table like child's play!

My! His handsome style
His arrogant modesty was no denial
He beamed as he jilted so tauntingly
Every female around was flibberty-jibberty

Cursed! As he grabbed my eye balls out of their sockets
My heart in my throat-my stomach an empty pocket
While his prance in tight pants made me dance
Wishing for one real bona fide chance

So! Afraid of the outcome of dealing with this situation
Argh! "Get em up scout!" I'm cutting out
My courage is fading to total damnation
By this spellbound swagger sensational "knockout"!!
