Premium Member Everything's Okay

Love seems non-responsive to
your expectations of youth.
And feels like an illusion,
a mix of lies and the truth.

Facing doubt and frustration,
bravado falters; then slips.
And yet, in your fantasies,
you kiss your lover's sweet lips.

Hope courts imagination,
summoning a dreamy smile.
And you find your happy place,
where you haven't been for a while.

You're searching for a soulmate
upon your heart's insistence.
So, you continue to look;
with undying persistence.

You fall in and out of love
with the ghosts of yesterday.
And though feigning happiness,
swear everything's okay.

Premium Member The Rebel

Silence may turn into storms, must I worry?
A lioness soul bends an untamed temperance,
a fierce rage I bury, populist of pure purpose permanence
so do go gentle on me ‘O judgest condemner
I stand with tenets of truth, humanity’s sustainer
not a raging tempest, nor dying light
but an empowering responsive receptor
these spearmint arrows bolt through blight
I don a polished persona of armor
not the helmet of a hypocrite of bone or ivory
but leather boots built to march into Gehenna
the Fiery, for harrowing heavenly causes

Perfidious, I let you keep the repute given me
the rebel rouser fits me well
The prophet himself, p e r s e c u t e d,
whilst he ruffled feathers and raised hell

There’s an ineffable effigy
to whom I bow, sovereign Lady Liberty
her crown, radiant rays jut like the sun
an aureole flickers of freedom
windows of gems like sacral chakras
I, this blatant believer reverts to rebellion
crusading for campaigns and fair elections
with this, I’ve conquered the storm within

11:59 The doomsday clock tics an AI timer,
a hoax yells the denier's lying tongue
I mustn’t keep silent, moksha can we revisit this later?
give me a bit more time to repent

Amongst autumn’s signature rustling leaves
I walk error-free, veins vigor, I roll up my sleeves
alongside rebels alike we fight king of terrors
Swamiye your sacred motive fills my soul,
with me unseeker are your fragrant prayers
the holy hills call, c o m e, yet I stay
at summit’s foothills with seeker sayers,
raised voices not in praise for the divine, not with joy do we sing,
but with sinful pride we chant harmoniously, no kings!

Premium Member Unrelenting Loneliness

Yesterday I was oblivious and carefree,
looking forward to seeing you,
talking with you on the phone -
your teasing voice glimmering with laughter . . .

Today my heart is a deep abyss
that knows no bottom;
I cannot find you in the darkness
for you have slipped beyond my reach.
No one can share my pain and loss;
only I carried you within me,
nestled just below my heart,
your forming body responsive to my voice and emotions.

Others may be familiar with this grief;
but mine has its own individual, bitter taste.
You are one of a kind,
no one just like you in all the universe.

My heart swells with aching sorrow;
you passed in the deep of night
with no one by your side,
alone,
except for the angel who came
to escort you from my world to His.
Waves of loneliness sweep over me;
I am capsized!

My baby boy you will always remain
although you grew to be six feet tall,
an independent, self reliant man.

There is a loneliness I know very well . . .
each birthday,
every holiday,
it stands beside my bed
waiting for my eyes to open.
It is my companion through every day,
raising its head at unexpected moments
to remind me that you are dead.

I could not bear this loneliness
if One did not walk with me
who knows it better than even I do,
God who gave His Son for the world.

Poverty stands close ready to knock
Bare essentials just those
Much love, human companionship
Lessons in life imposed

As a boy he learned to work
He didn't love it but did
With willingness he plowed the mule
No brothers' work him outdid

Responsive, responsible boy
Turns into a selfess man
A reliable mature human
Remembers where he began

Quick to laugh, quick to understand
Quick with mercy and gifts
He was positive strong man
Things for himself meant thrift

Caring, cheerful affectionate
Thoughtful in most ways
Faithful devoted husband
He's greatly missed today

Will My Life End Tonight

The thunder rolls,
and the lightning strikes.
Will my life end tonight?

The rain falls,
and my blood drips.
I'm getting that feeling again,
that lightheaded feeling.

My eyes close,
and my heart stops.
My body gives-way
and I drop.

The movie plays,
in black-and-white.
My face turns pale,
where'd all my color go?

A faint beeping sound is heard,
muffled by sounds of people weeping.
Water hits my face,
but wait.
It's not water, it's tears.
Not even theirs... it's my own.

"Look. She's crying,
talk to her.
Bring her back!
Doctor! Doctor! Come quickly!
Why is she crying?"

"It's simple.
She can hear you,
she knows you're concerned,
but she can't do anything.

She wants to wake up,
she wants to be with you,
she can hear you.
But, all she can do is cry..."

"She's crying,
she's responsive!
Doctor! Doctor!
Wake her up!"

"I'm sorry dear.
But I can't.
Only she can...
I must go now, I'm being paged."

I'm not just dreaming,
I can hear this conversation,
I really can!

I love you all dearly, I truly do!
I'll shed one last tear, and when it's gone,
I will be too.
Down my cheek it rolls and drips off my chin.

I tried to wake up, but I can't.
So I guess I'll just give in.

The thunder rolls
and the lightning strikes.
One last beep is heard,
my life ended on this night.

He leans in; can’t hardly hear
No matter; the great-grands dear

The G-G-son responsive to speak
The G-G-pop an antique

Antiques are worth so much
It is good to stay in touch

One’s plans are far behind him
The other’s just touching the rim

The G-G-son responsive to speak
The G-G-pop an antique

Close, still, yet far away, and yet
Life’s quite riveting, you bet

One generation must clutch the torch
It is handed off; a path to forge

Somehow we live in one another
With who we are in astute color

The G-G-son responsive to speak
The G-G-pop an antique

Filipino Roots

What reminds me always of my own identity
being born in the Philippines, a poor nation;
faith and history that nurture my thinking,
their colossal meaning shows how I am doing.

Perhaps an upbringing in my own family culture
can add a vital implication in my behavior
yes, it’s pretty evident as I keep going
with my own certainty in language articulation.

Our constant struggles, miseries and beliefs
provide a perspective that comes with faith;
it’s a way to get plunged into the mainstream
that life in the Philippines has shaped my whole being.

Major hurdles as reflected in various situations,
the core truth of being subject to wrestle with life,
along with the fullness of time and the so-called ‘leb’
a challenge, indeed; the incarnation of my interior sense.

It is an awareness that poverty in most parts of the country
makes me realize that something has to be done so far,
it’s a person’s longing to achieve that goal of going elsewhere
like in the States, UK, Australia, Hong Kong or Malaysia.

That quest for greener pastures and other human aspirations
  employment takes the centerpiece as a redeeming treasure;
like a “chiaroscuro” in the haven of human acquisition
where hope begets hope and where faith begets faith.

Well, seeing the reality of my own people’s struggles
I cannot help but be responsive to what they long for;;
a call from within drawn across the cry of the poor,
my own people, my sibling souls in the right direction.

I’ve developed that attitude of love and compassion
especially to those who’re eclipsed by epic proportion
in their search for peace, justice and Christian thought
with their roots plunged into the depth where we are.

I am moody, clingy and oversensitive.
It's how I show being dependable.
I'm self-absorbed,but responsive.
That's how I dealt life like a whirlwind.

I'm a woman of strength,
But my strength is my weakness.
Sometimes I can't let go of things.
Sometimes I'm overprotective.

I'm an independent human being,
I love extreme challenges.
But when the rain falls to my face,
I rush like waterfalls in stream.

I am loyal to anyone who appreciates me,
I can make everyone feels good and loved.
I'm a friend you can count on round' a clock.
I can listen to any problem 'bout heart.

Though life is sometimes not even,
I still have power to look up.
Then face the new beginning,
With a huge smile that lasts.

The Path of Spring

The path of Spring

I have desired to tour the path of Spring,
Not for any love aside love of my broods.
Call me selfish, so long it’s not my clan‘s string.

I’ll be accommodating to each guest’s ring,
Let their guitar,... their drumbeat but to my herds.
I have desired to tour the path of Spring.

I ‘ll be responsive to all willing to sing,
If they’ll be ready to implant holy moods.
Call me selfish, so long it’s not my clan’s string.

Let’s assume Easter-time is a bird with wing,
I’ll allow it in, to sip, for my abounds.
I have desired to tour the path of Spring.

Leave me when it’s even’ of Spring-tide to swing--
Will enjoy this moment with bests of my dudes.
Call me selfish, so long it’s not my clan’s string.

Not easily forget will the Seed-time ding,
If truly I will stick to these charts in roads.
I have desired to tour the path of Spring,
Call me selfish, so long it’s not my clan’s string.

Ten Commandments

Thou art enjoined to enjoyment,
Exhorted to exultation.
Thy responsibility is to be responsive,
and impishness be thy imperative.

So cherish thy good cheer,
And be not judicious in jubilation –
Rather exude exuberance,
For to revel is a revelation, and
It is on pain of death that
That thou art commanded to Live!

Remembering Old Time Telephone Service - a Short Story

Remembering Old-Time Telephone Service

By Elton Camp

Only a few decades ago, the wireless telephones that have become so much a part of our lives were inconceivable and remained so until the advent of Star Trek in the 1960s. Seeing the crew of the Enteprise in easy, constant contact struck a responsive cord in the public mind. Nevertheless, few of us even imagined that similar technology would become readily available to individuals in our lifetimes.

Outside of towns, telephones were not at all common in private homes. When I was a child in the 1940s, not a house in our immediate community had a telephone. We all used the one at the crossroads grocery store. It paid the phone company to run a line only because Gilley’s Store was on the main road between two fair-sized cities. The more scattered rural areas had no phone lines and thus service was unavailable.

In 1951, when I was in the sixth grade, we finally got a telephone. It was on an eight party line with all eight homes receiving the ring whenever any house in the group got a call. The rings were coded: one through four long rings and one through four short rings. All calls “rang in” at every house, even if it was midnight or early morning.

Zero privacy could be expected on calls. Distinct clicks announced pick-ups by multiple eavesdroppers. The practice was called “listening in.” Actually, nobody seemed to particularly mind as long as the listeners refrained from commenting on the conversation.

Many of our neighbors didn’t have a phone at all. They came to ask to use ours. Even worse, their incoming calls sometimes came to us. “Can I speak to Ronald,” the caller asked. Ronald lived three houses away. Yet, we were expected to go get him while the caller waited. By current standards, that sounds like an outrageous imposition, but nobody objected. People were more inclined to help each other in those days.

Older folks tend to long for the “good old days,” but I think few would want to go back to that type of telephone service.

Premium Member Talking To Jesus On New Year's Eve

Jesus:
I stand at the door of the New Year, longing to come in
to inner sanctum of your heart that I may live within

Me:
Do not stand outside and knock, the door is open wide
I beg you not to hesitate, come make your home inside

Jesus:
Beloved, how can that be when sin stands in the way
Allow me to clear it all so we can commune and pray

Me:
Please, clean up my heart of all that displeases you
I want to surrender myself to taste your love so true

Jesus:
Then claim ME Master of your life, and I'll complete this task
Listen closely to my voice, and do just what I ask

Your eyes open now to see time slipping through your hand
Soon I will come again to take you to Promised Land

Is the longing of your heart safety under my wings?
Then give yourself now to me, not matter what life brings

Don't you know I need you so to be forever mine
When nothing you hold back, I will gift you life sublime

I love you more than my own life, died your love to win
You break my heart when you hold back, clinging to your sin

Me:
I wander far away from you, though to my heart you're dear
At this time when New Year starts, I feel your presence near

So it is, I make this vow, to make you my desire
Ignite with your Spirit, Lord, so I can blaze with fire

I proclaim, in holy Name, to make a brand new start
of a life in which You are sole Sovereign of my heart....

Eileen Manassian

I wrote this as a responsive prayer for a church service we had in Nicosia during which we brought in the New Year as a community of believers. I've embellished it and changed the response from All to Me. There is so much that God wants to bless us with through Christ...we just have our hearts full of so many things that we can't receive it all. I know there is much for me to ponder on tonight....Wishing you every blessing...
