My Parting Gifts…
Goodbye, my son, my only king.
You are my love, your name I sing.
My wish was more to be with you,
to be with you, and see you through.
It is my fate to leave you now.
My dread was this, to tell you how.
I’m going away, place unknown.
The way I lived was not my own.
I am going, and I’ll complain.
Letting you go, it’s all my pain.
I am with you, with morning dawn.
Kissing your shadow until it’s gone.
My parting gifts to you, my son,
To live your life the way is fun.
Surrender to the thing you love;
what measures love grows above.
To get knowledge to find out why;
What is this life to you and I?
Me and you both, we are oneness.
There is no fear to feel darkness.
I am going without goodbye,
Remember me the way I fly.

For: AJ
As the last sun sets
and life ebbs away,
ugly words and deeds
flash across his mind
and he feels ashamed.
Bitter tears flow
into the mire
of squandered time
he can't redeem.
His eyes dim
as he begs
forgiveness.
God hears -
At last
Peace.

how i dream
sweet soul mate
of the moment
when i will join you
~
when my work here
will be done
and i’ll have given
all that i could give
only then in peace
most willingly
i’ll leave all behind
to find my wings
over my shoulder
give but a quick glance
and with content heart
blow one final kiss
~
goodbye
mother earth
hello universe

The Angels have come
to take me away
The only hug I can give
are the words I write today
In my shaking hand
They've placed a golden pen
So I ponder my past
my here now and then
What words of wisdom
do I have to impart?
At this moment
I wish to express my whole heart
When you find your soul is aching
and you're far from okay
The best gift I can offer
is to learn how to pray
For nothing is as bad
as often it seems
Although life has tearful moments
you must cling to your dreams
Cry when you need to
don't keep emotions trapped inside
Happiness needs growing space
It's blocked by what we hide
Let tears cleanse your spirit
loss and love makes you whole
Don't avoid your sadness
it strengthens the soul
Nothing is forever
so take many chances
Each stage in your life
is a collection of dances
Breathe in every moment
until your very last breath
Because not truly living
is a sad sort of death!
I’ve never played a hole in one,
that doesn’t worry me.
I’ve never sailed around the world,
its glories for to see.
I’m not a self-made millionaire,
that doesn’t worry me.
I have no need for fancy cars
or staying in chic hotels.
I have no wish to fly to Mars
or mingle with the stars.
I have no stately country pile,
that doesn’t worry me.
Our lives we’ve lived in simple style,
together you and me.
Some sixty years have come and gone
since we walked down the aisle,
and now, with nodding age, I see
that someday we must part,
but that’s not going to worry me.
It will simply break my heart.
Waves shore-bound break in a calm jade translucence
Our time together fades into tranquil eternal bliss
Like a cork bobbing, thrown about
upon the waves by frenzy spurred
my train of thought zoomed in and out,
I tried to focus: last words, slurred,
so near…so far…I swirled in doubt.

The Parting
Exodus 14
We stand sweating and thirsty by the shore
At the setting of Ra
A setting we’ve always anticipated
Bringing a glimpse of beauty to each day of toil
Beauty now eclipsed by a plumage of fire
Baking our scarred backs
Reflected heat scorching past us
To turn the red waters aflame
Red mixing with yellow
Glistening and churning
What Gehenna must look like
For it was the beginning of the end when Moses came
Since his God awakened from prolonged slumber
Awakened no doubt by the prayers of devout widows
Widows who still believe the stories about Joseph
And safe-keep his bones
But there’s no denying recent events
I thought we hated the Egyptians
But not compared to Moses’s God
And now what’s left of them are here
We hear their horses neighing, their muffled screams of insults and threats
All brought here by the same whirlwind of destiny
That besets us both
And now it is night
The reds and the yellows fade to black
Vibrant colors swept away by wind
And such a wind
Spraying the salt into our faces
Immersing us, maddening us further with thirst
Hour after hour after cursed hour
Ra returns at last
Revealing a scene we will never forget
We face a gauntlet of dry ground
The sea blown aside by relentless gales
The ground covered with clinging seaweed, craggy rocks, and freshly-dead fish
Shrieking seagulls are feasting and swarming like locusts
Holy smoke it is impressive
We stand agape for a moment
Then into this valley the old step first
Slow progress, stumbling, dodging, climbing
Walking through collateral damage
Frequently looking back
Expecting to be overrun by our oppressors
Ra sets again
We all have crossed
We turn and face the sea, now filling again
Swirling with them, horses and men
Gasping for air, dying one by one
Our tears unexpectedly cover the ground
Mourning a common humanity, a shared sorrow
And we feel again the heat on our backs
Heat from the endless desert, from an unknown fate
But O God
Still we thirst
I was with her at School,
but She got lost in a crowed.
I remained there at School,
With Tear drops on the ground.
Tararaah...Tararaah...
Rain drops on the ground.
In the rain I was standing like a Fool,
In the rain I was standing like a Mule!
My mind was telling me to go Home,
My heart was telling me to put that on Hold!
The wind was cold, I called and the Phone was droped.
Ttwaaah...On the ground, the Phone was droped.
I picked it, still ringing, I Heard her
singing,
"My Pride, My Joy, My Everything!"
As I was listening, the phone stoped
ringing.
Dwaaah! The lightning and Roses on my
feet.
Damn! I'v been day dreaming,
She is not coming, I'v been thinking!
This should be our Parting,
Cause Today She's partying and not
knowing that I still fall for Her!

A parting shot
Baristas bang to level the grounds
Constant caffeinated sounds
Murmured speak of 'where to next'?
Lonely figures sit and text
Gluten-free on plates piled high
Condensing people passing by
Foreign tongues that click and slur
Counterpoint a song from Blur
Buy 'to go' to cut the cost
By patronage the past has lost
Dusty corners, crumbs they've missed
Pierced lip and tattooed wrist
How strange our habits, then and now
That beg the questions when? and how?
Suspended nylons now replaced
By skin-tight leggings trimmed and laced
Time has changed the way we think
Of what we eat and what we drink
Like poetry that used to rhyme
Now lost in Jabberwocky slime.
from the limpid pools
of your eyes, sad streams run down
through your hollowed cheeks —
quivering, shaking, breaking
every fibre of your heart .
when you smile at me
I watch the curve of your lips
as they part to speak-
then I heed the sad whispers
of a torn, grief-stricken heart.
my heart is burning
at the thought of a farewell.
we are just pilgrims~
meeting to part in this world
heading to an unknown spot.
I remember, not long after we met,
playing the parts of free-spirited hearts,
adlibbing lines without rehearsing.
Absurd as it sounds, 'twas quite profound
that tensile strength of our tapestry threads
became so quickly woven together...
without eyes meeting nor voices heard.
We meshed as if delightfully dancing,
swaying like palms in a balmy breeze.
Our steps were always in perfect sync.
We were Fred and Ginger, turquoise and silver,
Darcy and Elizabeth without pride and prejudice.
I imagined his touch and kisses with bated breath
until the day he went away... emotionally.
In realms where daylight and darkness merge,
that shadowed place where docile dreams
and nefarious nightmares converge,
he was lost to me... Love's tragedy.
Our Utopian haven became a dystopian desert,
a desolate domain where stoic silence rules
over fools who choose to hold on to hope.
The nib of a pen, his tool of seduction
His dark verses seduced my hungry soul
and lighthearted lyrics were welcomed humor.
I sighed over his poetic rhymes of garden roses.
I suppose the fault was as much mine as his
for flirtation came easily in moments of desire.
My heart yielded without repent to be with him
and longed to smell the scent of his garden beds..
‘Twas more than a mere whim
My yearning burned for him like wildfire.
Suddenly, his flame was extinguished
as if what we'd shared had never been.
I had become addicted to his alchemy.
Combustibly enamored with explosive thoughts
because my greed and indulgent need of him
no longer fed my famished heart.
I was a prisoner of emotion, tangled within his web
of silken threads, longing once more to feel
his passionate embrace, but no trace of him was left.
What we vowed we felt was intoxicating.
I wanted him to make me that part of him
that didn't allow him to breathe without me...
but it was not to be.
I savor what we shared; that aching aura of love.
The months we dared expose our hearts.
I reread his poems and think of them as elegies ~
memories that may one day fade away
like sad melodies of haunting love songs
that unearth melancholy on dark, dreary days.
The flowers of love
That you gave to me
Have blossomed, have blossomed
And under the flaming sky
And in the impalpable sunlight
Pieces of me
Percolated from far edges of the universe
And together merged into love.
For when I say
That I love
The meaning is this:
That my heart is fire.
That my mouth is parched.
That my hands are full of bruises.
That my eyes burn holes in the walls.
Love me.
Love me like cloud loves lightning
Love me like tenderness loves intensity
Love me like galaxy loves the quasar
Love me like orchid loves rain.
Feel my fire
Running through you
Feel my fire
Without end or beginning
Feel my fire
As I burn for you
Feel my fire
Feel my fire.
We can't be together
But I burn for you
You love me from afar
But I burn for you
There are miles between us
But I burn for you
But I burn for you day and night.
The flowers of love
Can be seen
Sometimes in meadows
Sometimes in vases
And sometimes near people's gravestones
And sometimes someone would water them
Hoping to keep them around for a while.
So do not mind me
No, do not mind me
As I water
The flowers
Of love
That you gave to me
With something extraordinary
With something red and viscous
With something that carries nutrients
With the very blood
Of
My
Heart.
A tortoise-shell sky on a slate afternoon
matched the deep charcoal mood of a storm
Silence, profound, was as sharp as a thorn
We walked in the shadows, then the trail parted ways
Regret on our shoes, while the teak-sodden trees
wailed with distress in the turbulent haze
Shaking their heads, they were bending their limbs
watching worlds come to an end...
Wanting us back
calling us back, ...
and hoping we'd try once again.

The time has come for me to say goodbye forever
I am not brilliant at expressing my emotions
But in the words of ‘Sealion Dion’ ….
‘I will always love you’
If you check in the filing cabinet
You will find my portfolio of shares
I have kept the Woolworth's certificate it may be valuable
They may resurface one day ….
That’s the wonder of Woolies!
If you ever need a new sofa…. don’t forget these immortal words
