A tortoise-shell sky on a slate afternoon matched the deep charcoal mood of a storm Silence, profound, was as sharp as a thorn We walked in the shadows, then the trail parted ways Regret on our shoes, while the teak-sodden trees wailed with distress in the turbulent haze Shaking their heads, they were bending their limbs watching worlds come to an end... Wanting us back calling us back, ... and hoping we'd try once again. _________________________________________ 7/8/17

This is really beautiful Carrie. Not the break up part, just the incredible way you have expressed. Perhaps someday I may write one as lovely. Congratulations!

If all breakups were this beautiful, people would spend their lives breaking up instead of falling in love:) I love this one, Mrs Carrie:)

I love 'tortoise shell sky' and 'teak-sodden trees' They are so fresh and vibrant, and the verse so graceful. Beautifully done. I'm jealous.
